Inside a $2.4 Million OFF GRID Vacation Rental!

Okay guys, this checked in episode is going to be a little different from the other ones because rather than interviewing a host, I'm actually staying at this one for three nights. I want to bring you along with me and show you what it's like to actually stay in one of these. So we're not interviewing a host in this one because this one functions a little differently. This is on a platform called Wander. Wander has vacation rentals all over the country on their own platform, which has a lot of added benefits to it. And we'll get into all of those, but first let's take a tour of this 3,000 square foot off-grid modern home located on top of a mountain. So this house is at a really high elevation. I can actually see a cloud, like we're in a cloud right now and the clouds burn off and you can see the view, which is pretty incredible because you know, we're 5,000 feet above sea level. This property sits on 21 acres and they actually have hiking trails within the property, which is pretty cool. Let's start with the outside kind of entryway. So walking into the property, there is a front door up on this deck or you can enter through the garage. But they built a massive deck that really extends the living space. They have a really comfy couch out here and it's just the perfect spot to grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. You'll notice everything about this house is, it's just a massive house. Super big open concept, living area, dining area, all of that. So the couch looks really nice, but it's also very comfortable because you're able to move it back like this. You might be like, wait, where's the TV? There's gotta be a TV, right? And there is, but they didn't want to block the view. So they got this really high end projector. This is a super nice projector. It pops up when you want to use it and then when you're done, it goes back down so that there's no TV blocking the view and it's really bright even during the daytime. I don't know if you can tell just how big this house is. It is like so much space. It's 3,000 square feet. They've got a really nice dining area over here. A lot of the furniture is from Rove Concepts, which is like a really cool modern site. I'll try and link anything if I can find it, but I love the furniture they picked. I think it's really cool. So the kitchen actually used to be bright red and the Wander renovation team came in and made it, I think, a little more universally appealing. They have this super cool waterfall granite all around this giant island. Something cool about Wander's is they come stocked with a few items. So you've got some sparkling water, some sodas in the fridge, and then also some snacks. And these are all free of charge, which is so nice. It's all a really open concept so you can be making food and hanging out with everybody in the living room. All right, let's get into the rest of the house. This house has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms. And then over on this wall is my favorite feature of this house. So over here they have this really nice wood slatted wall, but this wall is extra cool because check this out. It has a hidden door. So- Monica's staying in this room. This is like the primary bedroom in here. But if you want to see this, you'll have to go watch Monica's video. So link below. So you guys will have to go check out Monica's video after this one to see the primary bedroom. But we've got a few more things to check out in my video. Welcome to my room at the Wander. This one has a king size bed and it's not even the biggest bedroom. We've got floor to ceiling windows with soaring views of San Diego County. And then over here we've got a workstation so that you can get work done. Really nice Herman Miller chair. They've got fast Wi-Fi monitors you can hook up to, a nice webcam with like 4K video quality. So if you need to get work done while you're here, you totally can. Each of the bedrooms has one of these workstations and it's really nice if you need to get some work done because you can plug into the huge monitor. You've also got a microphone. If I need to do voiceovers, that's what I'm using it for, but it's good for calls if you need to do a call. And then something else that's really cool is they have an eight sleep. So if you don't know what this is, it basically is a type of mattress or mattress pad that can heat or cool your bed. So at this property, every single room has one of these, which is so cool because everyone can get the temperature they want and sleep really well. I love that they have amenities like this. You really don't find this in other short-term rentals and it was fun to be able to actually test out the eight sleep. And then over here is one of the bathrooms. You've got a nice shower. Everything feels really nice and updated. Also, this light automatically turns on when you walk in. So if you were to go in here when it's dark, it's nice that it's kind of like a night light, you know, like you don't have to turn the lights fully on. I just thought that was kind of cool. And to finish the upstairs tour, we have the third bedroom, which is a little smaller, but still super modern and cozy. It has a really cool corner window and it has the same amenities like the eight sleep and a workstation with a monitor. So this property also has a really nice gym area. You might remember in the last Wander tour I did, that one also had a gym in the garage. It's got the same amenities. You've got a peloton, an air got a rower, a treadmill, and a set of weights. And this one, you can actually open up these doors and be kind of outside, which is so cool. This is something that Wander does that's different from other rentals is incorporates a nice little gym area. So you can focus on your full health and wellness. And just like the projector, everything is already signed in. So you don't need to have a peloton account or anything like that. And just like the last Wander property, this one also comes with a Tesla Model Y. This is probably one of my favorite features of booking a Wander property. You don't have to deal with the hassle of going to rent a car. It's already at the house and each property has a Tesla. So they're really fun to drive. Now let's take a look at the outside. Something that's really unique about this property is that it's actually off grid. One thing you'll notice about this property is they have a bunch of solar panels. So they have solar panels on the roof and then they also have some more solar panels out on the side yard area because this property is actually completely off grid. It's really cool because obviously it saves on costs for them, but it's also better for the environment. I just thought it was really cool that they incorporated this. It allows for them to do this really more remote Wander location because I mean, it would be really hard to get electricity from the grid up here. So they have a really big turf area out here where you can play games. They have spike ball, can jam, a bunch of different yard games, corn hole, all those things. And then they also have a little putting green over here so you can practice your golf game. And I'm pretty sure there's a golf course nearby if you're an actual golfer and you want to go golfing. And then there's some more fun amenities in this backyard area. We're going on the hiking trail. Yeah, you can see this trail goes quite a ways. And the whole time you get like the great valley view. So if working out in the gym isn't really your thing, check out the hike. So if you guys aren't familiar with Wander, I'll explain how it works a little bit more. Wander owns all of the vacation rentals on their platform. It's the quality of a luxury hotel with the space of a vacation rental. So you get the best of both worlds, really. And I just like that the quality is consistent. You know what you're getting. They always have really nice workspaces, fast internet. It's luxurious. And they have Teslas. All the Wander properties are also smart homes. So you can download the Wander app and control everything from it. So you can turn the lights on and off, unlock the door. You can connect to the Sonos. And then also in the app, you've got the home manual, Wi-Fi passwords, everything that you really need. But should there be anything that you can't figure out, they also have a concierge that you can text. And it goes right to your iMessage, which is really convenient. Another great thing about Wander is they have transparent pricing. So there's not going to be an extra service fee or a bunch of random fees. There is still a cleaning fee, but they cap it at $75 per bedroom, and then they pay the rest. So the cleaning fee is never going to be this exorbitant amount. And of course, you have to pay taxes, but there's no getting around that with a hotel or a vacation rental. But the important thing is you're not paying an extra service fee that you would on a vacation rental platform because they have their own platform. So you do save a little bit by doing that. I also thought it was cool that you can seamlessly split a booking with friends in the app. So you don't have to Venmo each other or anything. You can just all pay for your share in the app. I know a lot of my viewers are interested in investing.
