Welcome to this beautiful traditionally built Navajo Hogan located here in Monument Valley.
And the Hogan itself is located right up against this beautiful red cliff side
and you're kind of up on a hill as well so you have a beautiful view of the entire valley.
So the outside of this Hogan is actually built with mud and that helps to keep it
warm in the winter but cool in the summer. Now let's go check out the inside.
So the first thing that really caught my attention with this Hogan is just the
layering of the wood. The technique is so cool and it's unlike anything I've ever seen before.
And all the wood in this Hogan is actually local juniper trees so it's all locally built which is
really cool as well. And the Hogan is a little under 22 feet in diameter and that makes it just
a little under 400 square feet. And the walls in this Hogan are six feet tall so honestly feels
pretty big and spacious in here. So one of our personal favorite parts of this Airbnb was just
this wood burning furnace. It really makes it feel so cozy in here especially at night. And we
even got this clip of just the sound this furnace makes and it's honestly just such a relaxing sound.
I'll play that now. So you also have a really comfy queen-size bed in here which is a really great
feature to have. And the host also provides you with this cute little guest book. And inside this
guest book are some recommendations of places to eat and even what to eat. There's also some
things to do and just how to take care of the place while you're here. And there's also a map
of a really cool private hike that can only be accessed from this land. And now you're also
provided with some games so that you never get bored while you're staying here. And if you come
to the left a little bit there is a dinner table where you can enjoy your meals or play your games.
And then to the left of that we have a bench and now this is where you can come in take off your
shoes and even under this bench is a bunch of blankets that you never get cold while you're here.
And you're also provided with plenty of wood while you're here so you can have a campfire
outside or just keep the wood burning furnace going. And now if we come over here we have a
water jug and then next to the water jug you have a cabinet full of all the things you'd ever need
to cook with. I mean you got things to heat up water and some pans and stuff like that. And then
you also have this gas burning stove which we like to use to make hot chocolate. Something
about drinking hot chocolate in a place like this really just makes it feel so cozy.
Another thing I really liked about this Hogan is the paintings inside. These paintings are
very native and it really added to the overall feel of the stay here. Another really cool feature
is that this Airbnb is solar powered so there's a couple solar panels out back to actually power
this place. And yeah so overall this Hogan is very eco-friendly which is really good for a place like
this. So now that we're outside you probably noticed that there wasn't a bathroom inside so
there's actually a shared bathroom so we can go up these stairs here to the shared bathroom.
So the bathrooms are only located about 100 feet from the Airbnb which isn't too far.
It's actually a really pretty walk as well and it's shared with two other Airbnbs so it really
doesn't ever get crowded or anything. And while you're up here there's also a really fun swing
set that you can check out and if you have kids I'm sure they love this as well. And the views
from the swing set are seriously breathtaking. And that was one of my favorite parts about this stay
is as soon as you open your door you just have this beautiful view. One of the best views that
you can get of Monument Valley. And there's even a little fire put outside so in the evenings you
can come out here and just enjoy the fire and the view and roast some marshmallows with your
friends. And like I was saying overall just one of the best parts of this Airbnb is the location.
You seriously can't beat the views here. So our first day here it was really foggy and really
moody which was really fun. But then the second day we were here was actually just a really nice
sunny day and there was like no clouds so it's really cool to have a contrast of both types of
days here. And overall Monument Valley is just such an incredible place. It's so beautiful and
there's a bunch of just incredible hikes that you can do while you're here. We even stopped on the
highway from the Forrest Gump scene which was really fun. And we're here in the winter so there
weren't like any crowds or anything so we got some cool pictures as well. Anyways guys I hope you
