Thought of the day:
I'm grateful to be home but already miss my pal Chad Plante. I got to spend the week with him while his wife was away for her legal practice.

I've spent countless hours with this guy in the shop and riding these motorcycles over the years but this last week had to be the most memorable. I'm guessing like most men, we don't take time to dream together. This week it was a part of the recovery process. Not much else we could do. You see, Chad can only whisper partial sentences. But let me tell you, it's him! He told me he's in there but his words are trapped as he would grab his throat.
Being absolutely untrained in what to do here, brotherly instinct took over. I just started replaying past times with him to getting that memory box jogging. I'd get a nod here, a yes there, a color verification and so on. Made sure he wasn't falling asleep like a student...😊
I would go to the rental house at night and probably do what his wife Rosanne Lienhard Plante does...breakdown like a baby. That house became a prison of loneliness and sorrow. Helplessness to describe it best. You see, when your a "fixer" you scream inside when it's not working! I would watch YouTube videos on "how to help" the TBI patient. I've watched more motivational videos this week than ever.
What came next was a gift from above. After not sleeping for four nights. My body finally was forced to get a real nights sleep. The gift was a dream giving me the advice I'd been telling Chad to do all week. "Envision the healing" let yourself see you healed. Watch this video to hear what that dream looked like.

You will see that many of the tips and procedures used are universal for skill sets "every mechanic should know" and that the biggest value to my videos is the teaching of these skills that are not found in a service manual.
I often get asked this question:
Q: How does one learn these skill sets "every mechanic should know" if they are not found in a manual?
A: NUMBER 1.....GET DIRTY and start wrenching.
-Ask questions
-Find a seasoned craftsman to mentor under
-Tech schools can significantly speed this time up
-Research, read, watch YouTube videos
Tip: You will never learn it all from one source or in a short time period. No matter what craft you are trying to master, YOU must be dedicated and put the time in. THERE IS NO BETTER WAY TO LEARN THAN DOING! I will say it again, you must actually do the work to master it. You cannot just watch or read about it and master anything.
You want to be a master bike builder, mechanic, welder, nurse, carpenter or you fill in the blank?
-Don't take for granted opportunities to learn deeper
-Be humble and seek advice
-Be intentional with your learning plan
-Don't blame a school, job or your parents for not giving you ever answer, go get it!
