Hello everyone my name is Angelica and welcome to my channel. I hope you're all doing great.
So today I'm coming to you with three super easy ideas on how you can refresh the look of
your old or unwanted vases. So this video is something between upcycling and thrift flips
because if you like any of these techniques you can just go to charity shop slash thrift shops
and get the glassware of the shape you like or maybe you already have something at your home
what you think needs a little bit of updating. It's all about the shape. If you like the shape
of your glassware we can change the rest of it trust me. So in this video I will show you three
different ideas how you can do it and I also try to do three different styles so hopefully you find
something you like. So without any further ado let's jump right into the first project.
My first project was inspired by the bubble vases from H&M. So I found this glass dish
which used to be a candle. It was important to have something with the straight walls and to
create the bubble effect I'm going to use these glass pebbles which I bought online. I'm sure they
do something similar in plastic and that would work as well. I start with measuring the height
and the circuit of my glass and then the size of my pebbles. They are not perfect round but I still
want to calculate how many of them I need. I want this vase to be evenly covered so I have to know
if I need to leave some gaps between the pebbles. Using hot glue I start attaching pebbles to my
vase. I start from the top edge and go around. Then I create one row going down. I glue one pebble
at a time as hot glue dries out so quick. Once the vase is fully covered with the pebbles I go
around to make sure all of them stick nicely and don't move. I also remove any glue which sticks
out. I take it outside and for the first cover I'm using white primer. It's quite tricky to paint
it as the surface is not even and you want to make sure that each pebble is nicely covered.
Then I'm using antique white paint and spray it all over again. I didn't really like this
color at the end so later on I spray it again with just white gloss paint. I'm really happy
how it turned out. Looks so similar to the one from H&M but saved me lots of money. It was only
price of the pebbles and the price of the spray paint which I already had anyway. Next vase is
super easy to create. I've got this glass vase which was just lying around my house. I'm not the
biggest fan of glass transparent items at the moment so I thought it would be a great idea to
change the look of it as the shape of this vase is quite nice. I want to create more boho look so
the hemp yarn will be perfect for that. Natural colors and materials are also trendy right now.
I'm basically going to cover the whole vase with this rope and to attach it I'm using mod podge.
You can use hot glue if that's easier for you. I've decided to use mod podge which is less messy
than hot glue and even if the yarn gets dirty with the mod podge it will dry transparent so you won't
even notice it. I apply the glue with the brush, small parts at the time. The yarn is thin and the
vase is tall so it's quite time consuming process. When I go around with this yarn I try to pull it
and also glue it very close to the previous row. I left the bottom of the vase empty and on the
top I've added extra row of yarn to cover the edge. Now using white acrylic paint I'm going to
paint about one third of my vase. First I create the line around. You can use some tape to make it
straight but it's quite easy just to go with the yarn as a guide. Hemp yarn absorbs quite a big
amount of this paint so I will probably have to paint it twice. Easy idea if you want to bring
some earthy colors to your room. Very boho style as well. You can use any shape of the vase. Good idea
to update some old unwanted decor and by adding white paint it makes it more interesting piece.
For my last and favorite project I will be using some baking clay. I've got four different colors
white, antique pink, black and beige. I actually wasn't buying any extra colors for this project
as I thought they go really well together. I also got this beige glazed ceramic vase which you might
recognize from my previous videos. I really like its shape and color so I'm going to keep it how
it is. I'm going to create the little rainbow shades which will go around my vase. I've seen
this idea before and I really wanted to try it myself. I took small pieces of clay of each color.
I start with knotting and then rolling it. I use fingertips and the whole hand to make sure it
rolls evenly to this kind of long tube. I do the same with all four colors. My vase is quite small
so I want my rainbows to be small as well. I start with the black color and I create like a little
arch. Then I'm going with my next color which is beige and create another arch on the top of the
black one. Then I do the same with the pink and white. I try to make sure each piece got the same
thickness. Then I just slightly tap them together and using knife I cut the bottom part in straight
line. With the baking clay it's so easy to attach separate pieces together. You don't need cars or
water like with the air dry clay. Then I repeat the process to create more of these shapes.
I really enjoy doing it and I think they look super cute. Once I finish I've collected all small
bits of clay and put the same colors together. I would never throw away even the smallest piece
of clay. I took my baking tray and placed kitchen foil on it. Then I move all my rainbows on this
tray putting them in the final position. The way you place them on the tray the way they come out
after baking. I take another piece of kitchen foil and place this on the top of my tray. I don't touch
the clay. I'm just kind of making the protecting roof for them. I place them to the oven for 30
minutes at 110 Celsius degrees. But check if your clay got the same recommendation as it might vary
depending on the brand. After baking and cooling down they are nice and hard. I take my vase and
to attach the rainbows I'm going to use super glue. You can use hot glue but I thought it will be more
secure with the super glue. Because of its flat shape I only put drop of the glue in the middle
section. I hold it down for a few seconds till the glue starts working. I'm going with one row of two
rainbows and one row of one rainbow. But of course you can customize it whichever way you want.
I'm super happy how it turned out. I think the little rainbows are so cute and I'm glad I've
tried it out. I also like how these four colors go together. So let me know in the comment section
which vase from this video is your favorite one. And if you are going to use any of these techniques
in your projects. I'm really happy how they all turned out. I always like to update the old items
especially when I do it on the budget like I've done in this video. So if you enjoyed
