After bunch of failures, NASA & Boeing is scheduled to fly Crews on Starliner

After years of delays and bunch of catastrophe failures, Boeing and NASA are finally moving forward with the first crewed test flight of the Starliner spacecraft in mid to late April.
And luckily, so far, preparations for this CST-100 Starliner vehicle to the International Space Station remain on schedule.
However, are Boeing and NASA really confident about the safety of astronauts in this flight?
Can Starliner catch up with SpaceX?
All this and more in today’s episode of Great SpaceX!
Starliner, built under the same NASA program as SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule but with more money, is years behind schedule and has suffered a series of high-profile setbacks, including an uncrewed test flight in 2019 that was cut short before reaching the International Space Station. That mission was eventually redone and completed last May.
Meanwhile, SpaceX has flown seven crewed missions to the ISS and is set to launch its eighth later this month.
Despite Dragon's success, Nasa doesn't want to put all its eggs in one basket!
Boeing's participation has been still essential for NASA, both in fostering competition and in securing congressional funding. The NASA administrator at the time the development contracts were awarded in 2014, Charles Bolden, confirmed this during an interview in 2020. He said Congress would not have funded the commercial crew program had Boeing not bid alongside SpaceX.
"Boeing was a dream," Bolden shared. "I call them a champion in being willing to accept the risk for a program whose business case didn't close back then. And I'll be blunt. I don't know whether the business case closes today."

So, hope that the next Starliner mission will succeed. Those failures are too enough!
The Crew Flight Test (CFT) mission will send NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams to the station on an eight-day mission, launching from Cape Canaveral and landing at White Sands, New Mexico. The mission, following a successful uncrewed flight to the ISS last May, is intended to be the final major test of the vehicle before NASA certifies it for use on ISS crew rotation missions.
In a call with reporters, Steve Stich, NASA commercial crew program manager, said the NASA and Boeing teams have completed about 80% of the work needed for the mission. He described the next major milestone as a decision in early March to fuel the Starliner spacecraft, which Boeing wants to do within 60 days of launch.
