Genting Palace at Resort World in Las Vegas has a Lunar New Year buffet every lunar new year and this year, I was lucky enough to get in. On the buffet, there is lobster, crab, and everything in between, one of the best Las Vegas buffet experiences ever!
Genting Palace: Address: 3000 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109, United States
Good morning, it's Mike Chen. I'm heading off to Thailand tonight.
I haven't been there in years.
This is going to be a pretty incredible trip.
I'm going to Thailand, Sri Lanka.
Never been there before.
But before that, the video you're about to see was filmed in Las Vegas
a couple of weeks ago.
This might just be my all time favorite Las Vegas buffet.
Right now, I'm going to go get a workout.
And I just want to give a big thank you and shout out to the sponsor of this video.
And this new sponsor is actually helping me with my workout, Copilot.
So what Copilot is, it's a fitness coach app,
and it provides personalized workouts tailored to your goals
and most importantly, your available equipment, which is great
because today I have access to a full gym, but tomorrow, probably just dumbbells.
Some days, maybe just a jump rope I take with me or maybe nothing at all.
And what's great is that you get accountability and support from a real person.
My coach's name is Mike.
So I met with him.
He asked me what my fitness goals are, my schedule.
I explained to him that I was on the road a lot of time,
that I usually don't have access to a full on gym.
So he changes up the workout based on where I am and what's available to me.
And I've been trying it out for the past couple of weeks now.
And I got to say, there's a lot of accountability
because Mike will text me asking how my workout is, if anything needs to be adjusted.
So it's really easy to stay consistent with your workouts.
And over 75% of Copilot clients continue to work out after 100 days,
which means Copilot clients are nine times more successful at sticking to their goals.
And best of all, through my Apple Watch, my coach can see my movements,
make sure they're correct, make sure I'm going at the right pace.
It's really flexible and just the best way to reach your fitness goals.
Like I told you guys before, I never endorse something I don't actually use or love.
This app really does keep you on track, keeps you motivated.
And a lot of the workouts in there, I don't usually do myself.
So it keeps things interesting.
So if you want to give it a try, go to my link down below.
You'll get 14 days free with your own expert fitness and health coach.
All right, I'm going to go for breakfast and pack and enjoy the video.
Good morning, it's Mike Chang here in Resort World in Las Vegas.
The reason I stopped by Vegas this time is because every single year during Lunar New Year,
Genting Palace has an all-you-can-eat dim sum buffet that doesn't just include dim sum.
It's also Peking duck, a carving station, there's seafood.
They only do this once a year for a couple of weeks.
And a huge shout out to my friend, Phila, for getting me in here.
By the way, happy belated Lunar New Year to everybody.
Happy year of the rabbit and let's go check out this buffet.
Wow, this spread is ridiculous.
There's king crab, lobster, giant prawns.
There's a Peking duck station.
Peking duck here usually goes for 184 ducks.
So definitely gonna load up on that.
There's roast pig, there's sushi station, there's prime rib.
And best of all, no time limit.
Let's eat.
Round one.
Lobster, king crab, giant prawns.
There's a green goddess sauce.
I don't know what that is.
I'm excited to try it.
Chilled Ming lobster.
Inside there's a claw, there's the tail.
Splash of lemon juice.
First bite.
This is the best quality lobster I've had in Las Vegas.
The meat is so sweet.
Obviously, Las Vegas, you're not gonna get lobster that's swimming around
right before it goes down on your plate.
But this, oh, the meat is just out of this world.
Sweet and scrumptious.
The goddess sauce, I think it's a avocado-based dressing.
But the green sauce is creamy.
It makes the seafood much more interesting.
Chilled king crab.
You don't see this a lot on buffets anymore.
That might just be sweeter than the lobster.
They also bring you drawn butter to the table.
So in case you prefer that.
That crab is so deliciously chilled.
I just started eating.
I'm already sad that this buffet only happens once a year.
Prawn, just smother that in the green goddess sauce.
That tastes absolutely divine.
Just like the crab and lobster, it's so sweet.
The tea's also excellent, by the way.
This place is such a classy, quality restaurant.
Like everything here, even the butter.
That is really good butter.
As soon as you start eating the seafood,
the servers are so attentive.
They bring over wet towels so you can wipe your hands with.
And also, there's a sushi station where there is some pre-made rolls
where you can have the chef put together a plate of sashimi for you.
Look at this.
There's shrimp, there's tuna, there's salmon, there's tamago,
there's red snapper, there's sea bass.
That's a melt-in-your-mouth cut of tuna.
That salmon too.
Deliciously fatty.
I love the tuna, but that salmon might be the best thing here.
All right, gotta go for some Peking duck.
Next round, all from the meat carving station, Peking duck.
They actually put pigeon up here.
What's interesting is they have these cuts of roast pig
where they just cut the crispy skin part off for you.
That pork is so nice.
That loud crunch from the skin makes a statement.
That piece of skin is definitely airier.
The crunch is a little more subtle.
The flavor of the roast pig is amazing.
You taste the smokiness with the subtle sweetness,
the yummy fat mixing in with the meat as you chew.
Out of 10 out of 10 flavor on the roast pig.
Soy sauce pigeon.
The pigeon is tender.
That soy sauce base sauce, a little sweet, so much umami.
Scallion chicken.
This is one of my favorite things from Hong Kong style roasted meats.
I love dipping it into the scallion ginger sauce.
Oh, that chicken is so tender.
When I first moved to Boston and I finally had access to all this roast meats,
I just got a whole roast chicken today.
That is a really good Peking duck.
Little layer of fat right underneath that melt in your mouth crispy skin.
Dip it in a little bit of hoisin sauce.
The lean meat is tender.
For Peking duck, the skin of course is the most important part.
And that thing, this has such a nice subtle crunchy texture.
Then it kind of melts like a thin sheet of marshmallow on your tongue,
leaving that yummy duck fat all over your taste buds.
Definitely need another round of that.
Next round, got a bowl of pumpkin pork soup.
Very mild, light pumpkin flavor.
A slight bit herby.
Now this thing has been stewed for a while.
The meat, look at this, fall off the bone tender.
This is a very healing bowl of soup.
I'm not usually huge into congee, but here they have golden oyster congee.
I think some nori in here, some peanuts.
Wow, this is good.
I'm gonna have to go back and get a giant bowl of this.
The texture is so smooth.
I put some dried fish and black bean sauce on top as well,
and this is the golden oyster.
The texture is really soft,
and that's the thing that's releasing that nice brining flavor into the congee.
Look at this.
This is the truffle lobster dim sum.
It just looks exquisite.
See-through, mochi-esque wrapper.
You can see the pieces of truffle on top.
Looks like there's some greens in here as well.
This is so nice.
Inside the dim sum, the lobster meat is mixed together with the greens.
Outside wrapper, nice and chewy.
I mean, this thing is sweet, it's earthy.
Of course, having that awesome aroma from the shaved truffle on top.
That's a 10 out of 10 dumpling right there.
We're also nice enough to bring out a couple dishes from the kitchen,
and this one is their stir-fried XO prawn.
XO, of course, a very popular sauce,
typically used for stir-frying in Chinese cooking.
In here, I see they mixed in some chilies, I see garlic in here,
asparagus on the bottom,
and an edible, almost like a fried noodle bowl.
That sauce is so good.
It's spicy, it's garlicky,
ton of umami flavor just covered in that delicious, sweet, plump, snappy giant prawn.
Trace that with the crunchy asparagus.
This is a flavor bomb of a sauce,
and these are perfect ingredients to be covered by.
Another dish they send out, stir-fried A5 Wagyu.
Check out this basket.
This basket is made with really thin, fried, crispy noodles.
Some mushrooms in here, some peppers.
I've had A5 Wagyu a lot of different ways, never stir-fried.
This is extraordinary.
Of course, melts in your mouth,
and the sauce is so peppery and smoky.
Slight bit of sweetness.
I'm gonna take a little bit of the crispy noodles on the side.
Wow, that's like the ultimate Japanese A5 Wagyu fusion dish right here.
Got some of the cooked dishes.
There's Hong Kong-style fried rice with a bunch of different preserved meats in here.
Xinzhou chow fun, so this is a curry from a chili,
roasted pork bun, pork belly with abalone,
and piece of braised fish with cheese on top.
Oh, that fish is so nice.
Beautifully flaky with a nice mild flavor.
I'm a big fan whenever my seafood is covered in cheese.
This preserved meat fried rice is amazing.
There's some mushrooms in here, Chinese sausage,
a little dry shrimp.
That actually goes perfect with the fish.
The abalone is nice and tender from a chili.
Tons of good curry flavor.
And that is a sweet, fluffy, yummy barbecue pork bun.
I forgot about this table that's sitting out there
that's full of just a mousse gouche.
And this is a persimmon carpaccio,
which is really interesting because this is usually tomato.
And of course, this being Lunar New Year,
persimmon is such an important fruit,
at least for the Chinese for the Lunar New Year celebration,
because it's gold and Chinese people,
they like a lot of gold.
Sweet with popping pomegranate seed,
with deliciously creamy ricotta,
creamy goat cheese,
that on its own is already so good.
Covered in nuts and dried fruits.
I love how so many of these little dishes
are using snacks and food items
that typically eaten during the Lunar New Year,
like persimmon, nuts, fruits, tuna tartare.
And the crab salad.
This thing is like 99% crab.
Quite delicious, meaty crab in the salad.
Wow.
I think there's only two sections now
I haven't eaten at.
Let's go get some prime rib.
Corn lobster chowder.
Look at this giant chunk of lobster.
You get the sweetness from the corn
and the sweetness from the lobster.
You can definitely taste that umami from the shellfish
infused into the stew.
Every single bite,
you get a little pop of sweetness from the corn.
You can really taste also the char of the corn as well.
Prime rib is good too.
Dessert looks really, really good.
We got some homemade chocolate in here,
some tarts, a little chocolate cake,
some mousse.
Look at this tiger blood truffle pop.
Is Charlie Sheen working?
This definitely looks like the most festive dessert item.
White chocolate shell,
I think like a raspberry mousse on the inside.
The dessert,
just like all the other food items here on this buffet,
exquisite.
I really like the super decadent fudgy chocolate cake.
This one,
a little tapioca pearls with some toasted coconut,
kiwi and pineapple.
Creamy, refreshing, milky.
That's what I love.
I love this.
Tastes like the cross between a cheesecake
and a key lime pie.
Also,
their house-made chocolate,
whatever raspberry wines just put in my mouth,
I wish I had a box of those.
Oh, I've been here for about an hour.
Tried pretty much every single item on the buffet.
I think I'm good.
This buffet started with the shellfish.
It's definitely the best lobster and crab I've ever had in Las Vegas.
I would say this is one of my favorite Vegas buffet experiences.
I feel like not only because the food is quality,
like pretty much all the food items is exquisite.
The taste of quality,
the taste of work,
the dedication that's put into it,
but also how welcoming everybody is.
By the time we got to the door,
the sitting downs,
all the servers,
everybody we met,
extremely nice,
so hospitable.
Another reason I feel like I like it so much
is because it's a lot of the food items,
a lot of the ingredients used,
are things that you would see on a typical Chinese New Year feast.
So the whole thing definitely gives off a very festive vibe,
which I love.
Best things here,
obviously seafood,
amazing lobster,
king crab,
ridiculously good.
The green garlic sauce with a splash of lemon,
perfect pairing with the shellfish.
Love the congee,
love the rose pig.
Peking duck is good,
the dim sum items are exquisite.
And I didn't know this about Las Vegas,
I didn't know every single Lunar New Year that
a lot of different buffets will have a Lunar New Year themed buffet.
But after this year,
I'm definitely making this a tradition of mine.
Who would have thought,
Lunar New Year,
come celebrate it in Vegas.
Or maybe everyone had that idea except for me.
And like I mentioned,
this buffet is not a regular thing for this restaurant,
but definitely come here just to try out the food.
It's pretty awesome.
And of course,
I'll put information for this place down below.
Thank you all so much for watching.
Again, happy year of the rabbit.
Wishing everybody health, prosperity, and happiness in this new year.
So until we eat again,
see you later.
