Welcome to my allotment diaries. Once again, join me as I massacre some weeds, navigate a wheelbarrow through a blackberry bush and try not to impale myself on a fork.

Welcome back to another riveting allotment vlog, bloody freezing today but I'm here because
commitment. Look at my neighbour's plot, I wanted to show you this, I hope he doesn't mind.
This is my neighbour's allotment plot, isn't it beautiful, the raised beds, blue shed,
it's amazing. This is my inspiration every time I walk to my plot. I do wonder if my plot will
ever look like that, probably not. So just thought I'd come and check on it today really because I
think it's quite good to just keep up with it every now and then and just make sure it doesn't,
oh for god's sake bloody ground sheet again. I've put rocks on it and everything, what's wrong with
it? What's wrong with you? Bloody ground sheets. Yeah so I thought I would just do a little
overview of it, just come and check up on it and make sure that it's looking all right and
no sign of the fox yet. So my tulips are coming up, have a look at these,
there they are, can you see them? So it's going to focus, yeah there they are, got some tulips,
got some more coming up over there. Basically I planted tulips in this whole section here,
about a hundred of them, we've got about four coming up but you know what,
it's progress, it's all progress. Obviously everything's pretty frozen over today which
looks really pretty but I'm not sure what I can do exactly, I'm not sure if I should
have covered these up as well because they're like frozen now but it's all progress people,
it's all progress, don't worry about it okay, I'm not worried, you shouldn't be worried.
Right this is the area that I'm starting to try and clear here, basically I'm kind of working
sections, I can't see my camera because the camera's still running, right I'm trying to
work in sections so I've sort of, that section down there is obviously done, then I've got the
ground sheet over that bit, that's all been dug over, that's done, now I'm sort of working onto
this section here. The only good thing about it being all frozen over is that it's not
really muddy because normally I'm absolutely bloody caked in mud,
so that's quite nice that it's not muddy today and it looks really really pretty
and I don't know if you can hear but all I can hear is birds, just hundreds of birds which is
so nice, um yeah, all right I'm gonna get stuck in and see if I can clear any of this crap.
I learnt a lesson that when it's frozen over like this digging
it's not a good idea, so I'm gonna just try and clear some of it
instead. My initial thoughts were this ain't gonna work but actually once you break through the ice
look at the progress I've made, look, dug all that out, right, look at this, roots, so once you like
break through the initial ice bit actually you can really dig a lot so I'm doing all right,
I'm gonna, I'll film this bit, I'll show you, show you what I'm doing people, I'm not completely useless,
I don't know if you can see me there, right, okay, come on, take that Barbara, stay out,
see, easy, look at this, actual soil, I have found soil, yeah I just wanted to say
I know I'm crap at this so if you're coming here like expecting to see someone who's like
gonna give you advice and show you what to do in allotment like that's not me, this is my first
ever allotment, I don't really know what I'm doing, you know, I just, I've seen pictures of allotments
and what they look like, I've seen my neighbour's allotments, I'm just trying to replicate it and
it's been a bit of a garden massacre to be honest at the moment, just hacking away at everything
but I just wanted to come on and say I know like I'm swearing a lot and I look really stressed but
I do love it here and there's something about being here that just makes me feel
so calm and like everything's going to be okay and I've got shit going on in my life right now
but when I come here and hear the birds and it's frosty and I can just dig and clear shit and
do little jobs it just frees me of all that and I just feel like nothing else matters
you know except digging and I just get so swept away in it all, it's just great and I just want
to say that if you are thinking about starting an allotment or starting a vegetable patch in
your garden or even just doing your garden, do it yourself, just do it because I don't know what the
you know I'm just hacking away at shit all day long like I don't know if this is going to work,
I don't know if anything I've planted is going to grow, that's not the point, the point is I'm doing
it myself and I'm trying and it's trial and error and it feels so good to dig and garden
and I'd really recommend it to anyone out there who's feeling stressed or anxious particularly
if you're feeling stressed or anxious to get outdoors and just get gardening, just do a patch
anything because it is just changing my life being here and I just wanted to say it because
I know I look really stressed and I'm swearing and I'm like falling over my fork and stuff and
it's probably not looking like the most peaceful day of the allotment but I just want to say it is
honestly just go get one, you'll never regret it, never. Anyway I'm going to call it a day here
because I've got to get home because I've got to sort stuff out for the kids but I just want to
show you this bit that I've done because I thought I wouldn't be able to dig like I said but look at
this and look at that for a day's work that was all you know brambles like that it looked like
that all these big brambles really thick ones coming out and look I've cleared it and yeah
it probably needs clearing a couple more times but I'm pretty proud of that. So I'm getting through
it and yeah anyway hope you enjoyed this vlog if you did subscribe to my channel I'll be putting
lots more allotment diaries up and see you next time guys any advice as well below of what I
should be doing would be really helpful so yeah see you next time guys bye
