Hey guys!
It's almost Christmas.
It's the Friday before Christmas.
I just wanted to do, ignore my dog, I just wanted to do another really casual video where
we sit down and just hang out.
So I thought I would re-pop my Silver Sword Philodendron and my Peperomia Hoffmannii
that I just unboxed yesterday from stevesleaves.com.
I think I'm going to put my Peperomia in this little head planter.
I think it looks really cute.
Let's see.
Do you think that it looks cute?
I do.
It looks like a head of hair, like dreadlocks or something.
I used to have a pink Syngonium in here but I actually moved it to a different pot because
it just wasn't happy in this deep of a container.
So this is where we're going to put little Hoffmannii here.
Of course I'm wearing a white sweater again, a white crew neck again.
Why do I always do this?
My brain is kind of all over the place so I'm off work today.
Thank the Lord I needed this day off to recoup from the holidays and retail.
So I've already filmed two videos today.
I filmed a nail video today.
I posted about a giveaway I'm holding on my Nails by Harley G Instagram.
I've done a bunch of stuff for the plant haul.
I'm going to my mom's.
We have to go do some shopping and then also film a video together.
And at 7 I have a Christmas party at my best friend's house.
I'm really excited.
I think it's going to be fun and I'm also going to give her her Christmas present, which
is a plant.
So by the time I post this video she will have already gotten it.
I don't think she watches my videos, at least I hope not, but I got her ficus, the ones
that grow really fast and it's the variegated version.
That was like a dust cloud.
Then wanting a tree and I wish I could afford to get her a giant like fiddle leaf fig but
I think this ficus will be better for her house.
And then also the care is really, really easy compared to a fiddle leaf fig so I just thought
it would be a better option for her and of course I don't have one of these so I took
some cuttings.
Does that make me bad?
Do you guys do that?
Do you give plants to people and then take cuttings of them?
I don't know.
I think a plant is a really good gift to give somebody.
Like I'm going to give my manager a pilea peperomoides for Christmas.
My manager works.
She's the best manager.
So I have this filled about to here with soil.
Can you even see what I'm doing?
I have it filled about here.
I'm going to set that aside.
Oh gosh.
Peperomia really scare me.
I've never really had luck with them.
I know it's weird.
A lot of people love them.
So if you're one that does well with peperomias, please, please help a sister out and leave
a comment about how you care for them.
I know they're all a little bit different but I really don't want to kill this guy.
Like I'm desperate to make the peperomia work.
I don't know why I don't do really well with succulent plants.
Other than succulents themselves, like the thicker leafed plants, I don't, like we're
not compatible, you know, but I really want this one to work.
What's your favorite kind of plant?
Like I do really well with philodendrons because they're easy, but I'm really trying to branch
out lately.
I've killed so many peperomia in my day, which I'm kind of embarrassed to admit, but it is
what it is.
And I'm just, so this is a really moist plant.
I recently watered it.
I always do this.
So I'm just going to try and remove as much soil as possible without damaging the roots.
I feel like peperomia, I don't know if this is accurate, but in my experience, they don't
like their roots to be bothered mostly because compared to some other plants, their root
systems seem really fragile and like thin kind of a lot of other plants like this size
would have some thick ass roots.
My peperomias don't for some reason.
I don't know.
Please help me.
There's so many cool peperomia on the market.
I've recently mastered calathea, which I'm really proud about.
That was one of my goals was to have calathea plants happy and my newest calathea plants
and the new growth on my older calathea plants are very happy.
So now that I have the calathea down, I think peperomia is my new goal.
So please help a sister out all you genius plant people just kind of trying to remove
some of this moist soil so my plant doesn't die.
I think I overwatered my peperomia plants and I don't know if I've had bad luck with
them because I've ordered from Hertz and they're just bad or what.
This plant was from stevesleafs.com.
I just posted an unboxing yesterday.
So this plant, I know I probably should wait to repot it, but the soil is so, so moist.
Do you guys like eggnog?
I love eggnog.
Oh my gosh.
I have so much stuff to do today.
So the party is at seven.
It's now like 1.30.
I'm going to my mom's at about three.
I have to go get two white elephant gifts, which I don't know what to get.
And I know other than Andalee, I know nobody else going other than my husband.
So I don't know if it's going to be weird or what, um, but like, obviously I want to
bring a plant as the white elephant, but I also don't want to like submit a plant to
that kind of suffering, if you know what I mean, of people who don't really care about
them.
Okay.
Now that I have most of the soil off, I'm going to try and get potted in here.
Oh my gosh.
I love it.
And then when they grow, it's going to be so cute.
Okay.
These are my favorite kinds of videos to film.
These and plant shopping vlogs are my two favorites.
But what are your favorites to watch?
I love our little plant community here.
I think, especially for beginners where we don't know enough individually, but collectively
we know enough, um, to help each other out.
I really, really appreciate all of your guys' knowledge.
You're so much smarter than me.
You all should be making the YouTube videos, not me.
Ah!
I'm going to cry.
We all start somewhere and we all know nothing in the beginning.
I think 2019 is going to be a really cool year.
I feel like emotional right now because 2018 was such a good year and I can't even imagine
where 20...
Oh my gosh.
I'm like my freaking mom.
Are you kidding me?
I don't know.
I think it's just going to be a really cool year.
I can feel it.
Why am I crying?
I need to chill.
I don't know.
I just kind of get emotional this time of year because everybody is so nice and giving
and loving and I know a lot of people really struggle this time of year and I'm so lucky
to be in the situation I'm in.
Ah!
I'm such a boob.
Oh my gosh.
My 2019 goals are to be more conscious of my choices I'm making in every single aspect
possible.
So what I'm eating, I do...
I am a vegetarian so I don't eat meat but I've been working to become vegan because
I don't want anybody to suffer from my existence, to put it in the most basic way possible.
I don't know why I'm getting into all of this right now but...
So I want to be more conscious of not only using plastics and things like that but also
what I eat, what I put into my body.
I want it to be healthy food.
I've made such a difference in my lifestyle choices in 2018 and I just want to further
that and do... be the best I can be as I think we all should be the best we can be and have
as little impact on other beings' lives in a negative way as possible because you know
what?
Little differences add up to be big differences and I'm not trying to push anybody to be vegan
or vegetarian because I know it is a big lifestyle change.
So don't think that I'm like a, that I think that we were raised to be a certain way and
it really...
If it's going to be a change that actually happens and sticks, it has to be a personal
choice and I don't think anybody can really persuade another person to be like that because
it is such a big difficult change to make.
Oh my gosh, look at her.
She's so beautiful.
She was before but especially with this pepperomia, oh my gosh.
This was a good choice.
I really love the way this looks.
Oh my gosh.
You are so lovely, friend.
And then I'm going to repot my silver sword philodendron into this terracotta pot.
I'm making such a huge mess but it's fine.
It is what it is.
This is an easy plant to take care of but it is a difficult one to find.
I actually got this one off of ariambotanicals.com.
It is one of my favorite houseplant websites right now.
Oh, these roots aren't very substantial.
It's okay.
It's stillbetterthanhurts.com.
No tea, no shade.
And I'm going to put new soil on the top.
I really like the look of this silver sword in this terracotta, this like grayish brown
terracotta.
I think it looks really nice.
I like the contrast.
It's really beautiful.
Whoops.
And then again, tap the sides so that everything sticks in there.
This isn't as delicate of a plant as that pepperomia so it's a lot easier to repot.
Why can't I talk today?
It's the holiday season setting in and I'm going to put some of the soil on top.
I don't know if I'm making this up.
I don't think I am but I don't know.
In my mind, I can feel the difference between like a nutrient-rich soil as opposed to just
kind of filler soil, if that makes sense.
There definitely is a tangible difference in my opinion.
Oh my gosh, you are so beautiful, little philodendron.
I love you so much.
So there is my philodendron.
I know I just repotted two plants for this video and it was a super casual video but
thank you so much for stopping here and clicking on the video and then also providing feedback.
So many of you respond to things I ask in the video and I genuinely really appreciate
it.
I have a lot of fun stuff coming this week and next week and I'm really excited to see
where we end up this next year.
Thank you so much for watching.
I will see you in my next one.
Fa la la la la.
La la la la.
