Good morning, everyone. We just woken up on day two of our Alaska trip, and it's a bit
Misty it's pretty much raining all night. I slept like all night the sleeping bags
We have are amazing mm-hmm like for a first campy night's sleep. I was happy yeah
It's so misty and foggy this today. You can't even see the glacier. We're gonna be on soon like that's the glacier
I know that looks like clouds, but there is a glacier there, and then that's all the mist. There's Jess
See now we're just gonna go get some breakfast and then in about 45 minutes to an hour
We are gonna be picked up by bus and taken up to the glacier
All right, so we are now heading over across the bridge because apparently this is a parking lot for the town
It's not just campers that are here, and they park here and then walk across to what they call a town
I think it's literally population 70 people, and there's a pub and maybe a little marketplace
But yeah, then we're gonna jump into another bus, and they are gonna take us up to the glacier
Well, they're gonna take us to the base. I think we have to hike up
It's a two-mile hike once we're on the glacier you're going ice climbing
And I'm gonna go and actually hike the glacier just so we can check out things yeah
And then I think you're not coming back to like 530 a long day for you, and it's 830 right now
Mmm, and that's the base camp we are at it's raining at the moment
And I assume as soon as we get up the mountains gonna start turning into snow
Which is always fun to to watch snow falling?
So I'm guessing this is the ice picks that we have to use
Dig into the ice
Are you nervous?
You are? I'm not strong, and that's what I'm nervous about because I have no upper body strength
Yeah
Show us your Bradley
Copper that's been left
About a 40 minute to an hour hike up the glacier before we start
Start ice climbing so this town
If you remember yesterday, we showed you the train this town was founded on like a copper mill copper mine, and that's
Pretty much the mine that's now shut down, and that's where they loaded up the trains
Goodbye Jess
This might be the last time we see each other
Are you nervous? No, I'm excited now. Yeah, yeah, have fun. I'll see you in a while
The bears don't really digest that and they eat thousands and thousands of these berries in a single day
This is what eating too much food in Utah does to you so on it
the views are very
Very beautiful day
Wow, that was just incredible walking past that waterfall hard to see if it's cold yet
Even though the glacier is right there because we are walking and sweating so we're heating up a lot
But I assume the minute that we stop and we have to change our normal shoes into our hiking boots and when we're not moving
It's gonna start getting cold
All right, and there's the glacier and all that is glacier as well
It's just rock above it at the moment, that's pretty much what we're gonna be hiking on
We now have our crampons on we're walking on the glacier so you can see we got these spikes
So we can dig into the into the ice
We've climbed to the top of the glacier
It's getting a little bit chilly, yeah, but not too chilly, but now we've found our practice wall
That we are gonna practice before we go into a cavern and climb out
This is a waterfall just here with some fresh mountain fresh glacier water and apparently is fresh and delicious
What's it like?
Okay, let's give some a try. Oh that is good. It's freezing cold as well. The ice looks so beautiful
Nothing's better than hot chocolate on an ice cold glacier
Oh
Yes, I just finished my climb such an incredible experience, I'm so happy I did that it was tough though
I will say that but I
Never thought I'd do that and never thought I'd ice climb here in Alaska, and I'm so glad I did attitude on the list
It's incredible
I
Look up here harder than a look but incredible
Did you do it? What was it hard so hard? How are your arms? No, they're fine
Yeah
It's good though, how's it good it's like when I was up there all the water ice falls in your hands
Yeah
I
Okay, guys I couldn't talk to you much today because I had the big DSLR camera that Stephen's filming on right now
Stephen's back by the way
I
filmed a lot that I couldn't talk much because it was very hard on top of a glacier to hold the camera in front of
Me and make sure it's focused and try and talk so I couldn't really talk
But I try to show you as much as we could it was incredible walking on the glacier
I'm walking looking down the big holes. I don't even know what they're called Milan's
Milan's Milan's. Yeah, that's when all the water comes in and then
Hey guys, so just got back from the ice climb just take took all my clothes off because everything was drenched
So yeah, we got to ice climb as you saw. I hope I got some good footage
But when we went down the Milan, it was one of the most incredible experiences
I've ever done like I think that tops skydiving is number one, but this easily comes in at number two. Was it scary it
Was scary
I don't think you could have done it Jess because you literally you just do it and you just back up and then he lets
You down like 20 30. Oh my goodness
And then you just stop and he's like look around and I looked around and you just see water coming in
You can't even see the bottom of the chasm. Oh my gosh. My heart was pumping
I had so much adrenaline inside of me
It was insane like and then when I got to the top I had to sit down
Because I was just too much adrenaline because it was so amazing. I'm so glad I did that but
but our
camera is
Officially dead day two in the wilderness and we're not gonna see a Best Buy for
13 days
So, yeah, unfortunately it
It got smacked on the side of the Milan show them
I mean you can't really tell but it's been smacked and then I guess you can turn the camera on and show you them
They're quality
So it's been smacked and then because it was drenched because it just it turned so bad like it was so wet down there
It just like water leaked in it. Can you see that's so blurry like you can't I can't even see you
It's so blurry through there. So it's just officially dead. So it means that for the rest of this trip
We're gonna have to film on this big DSLR
And then when we get back, we're just gonna have to buy a camera again. Yeah, we're just gonna buy a camera
So officially Mr. Squiggle is dead
Yeah, Mr. Squiggle is gone. No longer we have to buy a new camera and hopefully the audio
That's the only thing I'm worried about with this camera. Like I love the quality but the audio
Yeah, I think we've done it before and the audio was okay
But I guess now it's time for dinner because you are starving
I haven't eaten since breakfast because we made sandwiches and left them off the glacier
Yeah, we got to the glacier at 9 a.m. And it is currently like 6 6 45 Wow
And I haven't eaten since 8 because that's but you would recommend people to go ice climbing again. Oh my good
Incredible. Yeah
Amazing ready for dinner
Warm and back up. I'm trying to get all the water off Stephen's shoes
They're steaming. There's fog all out there and
Finally, it stopped raining. It's been raining all day
It's so spooky it's so steamy. Well not steamy foggy. Oh, yeah, we just had some dinner
We had like a really nice pasta ravioli. Yeah tomato base was delish
I'm so much better now. Yeah
And now we are just going to go brush our teeth and then head to bed
Yeah, everyone's like two days of wet and then in the wet for nine hours. Uh-huh. Everyone's dead. All right guys
Good night. We start 830 tomorrow and we are heading to another like wilderness kind of camp
