Europa League Round of 16 kicks off with two high profile matches

Soccer fans are gearing up for the Europa League round of 16. The first round of matches in the highly anticipated tournament kicks off today. One of the teams to watch is Arsenal. The leaders of the Premier League are taking on Sporting CP. And later, another Premier League powerhouse, Manchester United, will face Real Betis. We're joined by Alexis Guerreras. He is a comedian and the co-host of Morning Footy on the new CBS Sports Golazo Network, which is launching on April 11th. Good to see you. Thanks for joining us. Just to start, Arsenal. Oh, this is exciting. This is exciting. We're excited to have you. Yeah. Arsenal is in the midst of a strong season in the Premier League. What do you expect is their game plan in their matchup today? That's a great question, and if I could answer that in the way that it might be true, I think I'm in line to be the next coach, because it's very difficult. As you guys may know a little bit, this competition runs adjacent to the actual soccer league that they play in, which is the Premier League. So you have to really be really strategic. Do you start your, every one of your starters, do you let some of them rest and let some of the younger players, maybe some of the backups get some minutes? And will that slow the momentum down in the Premier League where there are only five points ahead of a very, very, very strong team named Manchester City? It's very difficult. So even I'm interested to see, but I think we will see maybe one or two backups, possibly the American Matt Turner in goal. All right. So you're talking about momentum. I guess that works both ways. Manchester United is coming off a 7-0 loss to Liverpool last weekend, but is still third in the Premier League. So in terms of momentum, and obviously there's a little bit of noise right now, is that going to get in the way of their sort of status as one of the tournament's favorites? I hope so. I'm not a massive fan. I'm a massive Arsenal fan. But in all honesty, I think this is a difficult situation to be in because what, what you may not know is that while they did lose 7-0, they had a very strong run of games with a new coach. It seems that the club has really bought into, and the squad has really bought into his stat believe that Manchester United was back and a massive loss like this. You really have to see how they're going to react. So I think this is going to be one of the bigger games. Rehab at these is an incredible team. They, they're, they're on a nice win streak in La Liga in Spain, and they're coming in very hot and Manchester United is coming in with a little bit of a limp. So let's see what happens. I'm really, really interested to see how Manchester United squad handles this setback. Always such high expectations for ManU. So Alexis, for all the diehard soccer fans, tell us about the new CBS Sports Gonzalo network. It's a colossal, but it is absolutely incredible. It's going to be the first ever, I am part of the first ever soccer morning show in the States. This is absolutely incredible. You couldn't have asked for something cooler to be a part of. There's so many soccer fans that may be listening to this, that know for years, for decades, if you want to find something to watch that is simply talking about it, you have to go and download alternative media, whether it be podcasts or different things now to be able to just flip your, your TV or any of your connected devices and for free, be able to watch a channel that the entire day we'll be talking about your favorite sport that will have original programming that breaks down talking about every single league, not just the leagues that are typically covered on CBS, every league we're going to talk about. If something big happened, like you mentioned, the seven, the loss, we talk about it as something big happened in MLS. We'll talk about it. If something big happened in Fiji, we'll talk about it. You know, this is going to be absolutely incredible. Now I need to research Fiji. You guys, anything goes, Alexis, good as thank you. And you can stream the new CBS Sports Galazo network starting on April 11th.
