Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel Golgappa Girl.
I am Pooja and today I am at Churni Road.
This part of South Mumbai is known for two big institutions.
One is well-known Hinduja College and second is Saifi Hospital.
Let me tell you how this area got the name Churni Road.
When the British government raised taxes on people bringing their cattle to Azad Maidan for grazing,
Jamshed Ji bought the grasslands here.
That's why this area got the name Churni Road.
In Marathi, Churni means grazing.
Since this is a Hinduja College, you will find a lot of students here.
Along with that, you will find a lot of street food.
Students here love hogging on the street food.
You get Mumbai street food here but you also get a lot of Surti dishes.
I am so excited for today's video because today we are going to eat Sev Khamni Cold Cocoa.
Along with that, we will eat a lot of Mumbai street food like sandwich.
It's a lovely day today. Let's go eat.
I told you in the intro that you get a lot of Surti food at Churni Road.
We are going to start our day by having Sev Khamni.
We are at Oprah House Sev Khamni which is actually known as Sainath Roxy.
You will get Sev Khamni here and the Sev Khamni here is pretty popular.
Before eating, let me tell you what a localite here was telling me.
I have been eating here for the past 30 years.
The taste is amazing. It's the best thing about Gujarat.
Anyone can try it.
But you are too young so you can always keep on coming here.
Uncle was very enthused and was saying that the Sev Khamni here is beyond class.
It's that good.
This joint is here for more than 22 years and you get this hot plate of Sev Khamni for just 20 rupees.
Let me show you.
Look at this. You get Jain Sev Khamni here.
And Sev Khamni is an integral part of Surti food.
This is made with chana dal and I can't wait to dig in.
Wow!
Tempered with lots of mustard seeds and green chillies. So nice.
This is slightly sweet and salty because of all the sev.
Slightly sour and very crumbly in texture.
The quantity of sev and Sev Khamni is one to one.
Sev Khamni is made by crumbling the Khaman.
Many people add lots of ginger, garlic and green chillies but you get Jain here.
Very nice. Very simple.
Look at this. Some green chillies are popping up as I am eating.
Very good.
So fresh.
Sev is so crispy.
Perfect texture.
Delicious.
If I have to describe this in one word, no actually in two words,
then I will say it's satisfying and very homely.
I have eaten Sev Khamni in Surat as well.
And trust me, this comes close to it.
So if you are in Mumbai and you want to eat proper Surti Sev Khamni,
definitely come here.
It's right next to Churney Road station.
All the details you will find in the description.
The next place we have come to today is Raju Sandwich.
Students of Hinduja College love the sandwiches here.
It's right outside Churney Road station.
And in this area, it's like a mini Khao Gali.
There is so much to eat.
By the way, so many toasts were being made here.
Like in front of me, 30-40 toasts were made like this.
And Masala Toast is famous here.
A classic Mumbai Masala Toast.
Let me show you.
This is the Masala Toast.
It has a potato mixture, some capsicum, onion and tomato.
After toasting it, they have added lots of butter on top.
Green chutney and lots of Sev and Chaat Masala.
Let's take the first bite of this.
Let me show you from inside.
A potato mixture with some spices.
Some capsicum.
I didn't like onion and tomato in my sandwich.
And a layer of cabbage.
Just look at this layer of cabbage.
And let's take the first bite.
Oh wow!
This is so delicious.
It's so flavourful.
I have taken two bites.
And here is the last bite.
This is a little different from the typical Mumbai Toast.
Let me show you why.
First things first, the textures.
The Sev is so crispy and a little salty.
On top, they have added Chaat Masala which is a little sour.
You can taste the butter and chutney.
The chutney is of green chillies and coriander.
And if you look inside, there is no potato mixture.
It's just boiled potatoes with some black pepper.
And a little bit of red chilli powder.
Not spicy.
Some capsicum and lots of cabbage.
There are so many layers.
You can taste some butter.
Then you can bite into some Sev.
Bite into some cabbage.
The soft potato.
The chutney has a perfect amount of spicy and good flavour.
There is cabbage in the USP.
It has a good taste and texture.
Something very different.
Love it.
I can't stop eating this.
It's so good.
By the way, I am feeling very hot.
Summers are just approaching.
And behind me is Patil Juice Centre.
The juices and snacks here are very popular.
Let's go and have something to drink because I am dehydrated.
I am feeling very hot and I need to drink something.
By the way, the shakes and juices here are very popular.
And there is a crowd here.
Let's go and have something.
The most special thing here is the juices.
There is a strawberry juice here.
The second one is Dhoom 3.
Grapes, pomegranate and strawberry.
The third one is Kareena.
Kalingar, strawberry and orange.
These are the fresh juices.
Here is the juice that we have taken.
It's name is very unique.
It's called Kareena.
By the way, the names of the juices and milkshakes here are very unique.
Bell Bottom, Dhoom 3, Krish 3.
I think they are Bollywood fans.
But this is the juice that they have recommended here.
And let me show you.
So first of all, props to the presentation.
They have added strawberries and watermelon.
This is the whole bar of watermelon.
And here we have strawberries even on the straw.
This juice is called Kareena.
It is made with strawberries, watermelon and oranges.
It's the season of watermelons.
The watermelon is super sweet.
Let's have the juice now.
Oh wow!
It's so refreshing, sweet and a little sour.
Every fruit has a different flavour.
The watermelon is sweet.
The strawberries are sweet and a little sour.
And the oranges also have a peculiar taste.
All three fruits have the same taste.
But the strawberries have a slight seedy texture.
The best taste is the taste of watermelon.
So fresh.
I think this is exactly what I needed.
First of all, I thought this would be very thick.
Because they have given a spoon like this.
But the consistency of this is like a juice.
It's not thick.
It's nice, pulpy and thin.
I liked it a lot.
And the best thing is that the quality of the fruits is good.
Fresh and sweet.
You must definitely try this.
You will get this only after getting down from Choney Rock station.
Guys, we were about to leave from here.
But the driver told us to try another popular juice.
It's called Bell Bottom.
At first, I was thinking whether I should drink it or not.
But after seeing the colours, I wanted to try this.
Let me show you.
If you take it from here, it will look like this.
Love the colours.
They gave this just to taste.
So, it has all the berries.
Strawberries, mulberry and blueberry.
It has a layer like this.
Let's taste.
Wow.
Very tasty.
This is actually a little thick.
And you can actually taste blueberry, mulberry, strawberry.
Very sweet.
You can taste all the layers.
Very nice.
Very different.
If you want to drink something sweet, a little thick and a little heavy.
And if you love berries, then you should go for this.
Yummy.
I think the best thing about this is that it has the original sweetness of the fruits.
There is so much to eat here.
And students here are enjoying having lots of street food.
And there is another place here where I saw a lot of students eating pasta.
And it's been a long time since I have eaten street style pasta.
I love the street style pasta that you get in Mumbai.
Very desi.
And this place is called CP Tank Pasta.
I have taken baby corn, red sauce, pasta from here.
This is macaroni pasta.
There is pasta at the bottom and a bed of cheese on top.
Let me show you the pasta first.
This is very hot.
Just look at that.
First I added butter and baby corn.
Then pasta, red sauce, oregano, chilli flakes and then cheese.
Just look at their menu.
You have lots of stuff to try here.
Maggi, pasta, pasta maybe macaroni, penne, whatever you can decide.
It's quite tangy.
But so nice.
It refreshes a lot of memories.
Let me tell you how.
This street style desi pasta.
I first came to Mumbai from Nariman Point near WTC.
And I was studying in college then.
I used to go there a lot of times.
So whenever I eat there, I remember those days.
Now there are so many stalls in Ghatkopar.
There is a pasta joint at every place.
But the taste is quite similar.
It's not like the usual pasta you eat.
It's completely desi.
And the Veeba sauces that you don't eat, they taste the same.
But it's so hot.
These soft macaroni.
Then the taste of butter, cheese.
We don't make quick pasta at home.
It's the same.
But I love it.
So saucy, buttery, cheesy.
I can taste the baby corn.
It's a little spicy because it has red chilli flakes.
But mainly it's tangy.
It tastes like the tangy flavour of a toast.
And there is no cabbage or capsicum.
Do you love street style pasta?
Let me know in the comments below.
You will find a lot of fast food joints in Churni Road.
And we have come to one such fast food joint which is quite popular.
It's called Say Cheese.
This place was set up in 2006.
And they have a lot of options on their menu.
There are Romali rolls.
Their sandwiches are quite popular.
And recently they have come up with these pocket naans.
It's a naan made of refined flour.
They cut it in half and put stuffing inside.
You get a lot of options in this as well.
I have taken a paneer tikka masala naan pocket.
This is a naan made of refined flour.
They cut it in half and put a paneer tikka inside.
Then some coleslaw, salad and three types of sauces.
Green chutney, mayonnaise and cheese sauce.
It's going to be very messy to eat this.
But let's try.
Look at that.
Wow!
Not what I was expecting.
First things first.
The patty inside is very crispy.
I love the coleslaw salad.
There is a nice crunchy flavour of cabbage.
Then the sauce is yummy.
It's obviously very cheesy.
There is a nice flavour of mayonnaise.
I don't like the paneer that much.
And there is sweet corn.
The paneer tikka has a nice flavour of paneer.
It has spices like cumin powder and garam masala.
Sweet corn and cabbage.
Very nice.
It's not spicy at all.
It's quite cheesy actually.
This green chutney is made of mint.
It has a nice flavour of mayonnaise.
Overall, maida, paneer, sweet corn and cabbage.
Mayonnaise, cheese and mint.
You will get a nice taste in this order.
Nice.
This dish reminds me of Jethalali.
We are having Jalebi Fafda in Churni Road.
At this place called Panch Ratna Jalebi House.
This place was set up in 1992.
Since then, people here love Gujarati snacks.
You get kachori, jalebi fafda, masala, khakhra etc.
Just look at this.
There is piping hot jalebi, fafda, papaya and some green chillies.
Just look at this.
So crispy.
So let's eat all of this together.
Let's have some jalebi with some fafda.
And some of this papaya.
Let's eat.
It feels like my today's video has been a success.
We have had such delicious food.
And this tops everything.
Fafda is very crispy.
It's made of chickpea flour.
It has a nice flavour of black pepper and carom seeds.
It's crispy.
But as you bite into it, it becomes a little chalky.
Jalebi.
I don't know if you can hear it.
But it's very crispy.
When you take jalebi in your hand, you won't get a sugar syrup.
But the moment you bite into it, you will get a sugar syrup in your mouth.
And this papaya.
Too good.
I'm actually very shocked.
I'm in Mumbai.
And I'm having jalebi fafda.
Which is equal to what I had in Ahmedabad.
Love it.
Panchatna Jalebi House was established in 1993.
It's the first jalebi house on Tata Road in Charni Road.
And it's next to Roxy Cinema.
And here, the famous desi ghee jalebi is made.
And papdi.
Fafda and kachori.
There's also farsan.
And spices.
This Hinduja College Lane at Charni Road Station at 7 in the evening.
It's actually a food street.
Just look at this.
So many stalls.
And there's a stall here called Krishna Dugdapan.
Where you get cold cocoa.
Yet another item that I tried in Surat.
And you get that here too.
It's like a mini Gujarat.
There are so many options.
Before drinking this, let me also show you.
There's this place called Videshi Locha.
They had locho, which is like a surti dish.
And we wanted to try that.
But their machine was broken today.
So we were not able to try locho.
But if you want to try locho, you can go there and try it.
So I'm going to drink cold cocoa here.
Which is like a thick chocolate drink.
Which I drank in Surat a few years ago.
And now I'm having it here.
Let's have this.
It's definitely not my favourite.
There's a lot of powder in this.
The one I drank in Surat had the taste of chocolate compound.
It was so cold.
This is just a sweet powder.
And there are lumps too.
I think it's okay. It's not the best.
If you want to try this, you can.
Otherwise, it's not the best.
I have to tell you.
People here are very, very sweet.
We were just leaving from here.
When he told us to taste this kaju-anji shake.
So this kaju-anji shake is for Rs. 20.
And this I actually liked.
So that's why I asked Naveen to start the camera.
Because I wanted to tell you not to try cold cocoa here.
But definitely try this kaju-anji shake.
It's really good.
And with this, we have come to the end of today's video.

I'm so excited for today's video.
Because today we are going to eat...
Sorry, again.
Just some...
Just some information.
Just some...
What do you call it? Fact.
It's very satisfying.
The next place we have come to today is Raju College.
Students of Hinduja...
I said Raju College.
Before shifting to BKC, this is the diamond market.
And behind me is Patil Juice Centre.
Is it good?
There's a bit of masala in this.
