Picked up the rental car. First turkey road trip. I'm navigating so we'll see if we get anywhere near
where we're really excited to go today. Jeff's not going to talk. He's focusing on the road.
We're driving through the mountains right now and there was a little pull off here on the side of
the road so we decided to stop. These views back behind us are insane. So about an hour into our
road trip and a warning light has come on on the dash of the car. We have no idea what it is.
We're trying to look it up in the owner's manual which is all Turkish. So we're going to give the
car rental company a call and see what we got to do here. Hi there. We rented a car from you
this morning and we are in the middle of nowhere and a warning light has come on to the dashboard
Yeah I have no idea what this warning light is supposed to mean.
Okay so we'll just pull over then I'll check the manual see if I can figure out what the dash light
means and give you a call back then. Okay thank you. So we looked in the manual and it turns out
that we are low on some kind of diesel additive which we need to add in close to the back gas
tank. So we're going to see if we can't find a gas station and some lovely attendant to help us get
this additive in the tank. Thank you. Just leaving the gas station the attendant put in like a whole
big 10 liter jug of something called AdBlue which is supposed to stop the diesel admissions.
It cost us about 120 lira and the light has gone off and we're back on our way.
We've made it to the hotel. We're going to go run out and grab a bite to eat right now
but when we get back we're going to show you something here in Pamukkale that's
very cool. We just finished our lunch went back to the hotel room put our bathing suits on because
now we're going to go check and see if we can't get ourselves into these cool thermal pools.
Well we've made it inside. I think we still have a ways to go before we see anything though.
So we just each paid 110 lira each to get in. Apparently we have to pay 100 lira more each to
get to the pools and we can see kind of along the ridge line there there are a ton of people
here right now which we didn't expect because it's already October but it is what it is. Once you get
onto this white travertine part you've got to take your shoes off so we're walking around barefoot now.
Oh look there's people paragliding. 100 feet inside the park we're already seeing the pools.
I was told these are thermal pools. Didn't feel that thermal. So we've just been walking up this
hill and as we come there have been like multiple terraces of these thermal pools. They seem to be
getting warmer as we go on the way up and we're about close to the top right now and check this
out behind me. We're now standing in the ancient city of Hierapolis. Hierapolis was actually built
on the hill on top of where the thermal pools that you just saw were. There's also more thermal pools
which we're going to show you as we keep going along here.
When we started this travel journey and when we started this channel I promise you it was not our
intention to be all amphitheaters all the time. But in Turkey it seems that these are literally
a dime a dozen like you cannot swing a cat without finding a gorgeous amphitheater in Turkey. So
they're everywhere that we go and we have to show them to you. It was not our intention but they're
here and they're gorgeous so there you go. So we're starting to believe that we can't go anywhere
in Turkey without running into ruins of some kind. We came here to see the travertine pools and it
just it's another massive site we're on. It's Ephesus all over again where it's just a massive
site absolutely huge and everywhere we go we're seeing things like this. Right now we're exploring
the ancient city of Hierapolis a little bit. Tons of ruins around this is where you'll find the
Cleopatra pools that Angela mentioned earlier and everywhere you look it's all of this back behind
you. It's ridiculous. Except for this little Cleopatra pool area and we're going to show you
in a bit it kind of looks like an enormous concession stand with an amazing pool in the
middle. So it looks like it makes some really good Instagram shots but it's like
surrounded by a burger stand. Let's go check it out.
We went ahead and paid the 100 lira each to get into the Cleopatra thermal pools.
It is extremely warm. No cameras allowed inside of the pool itself. So Angela is taking a little
bit of footage right now of that. Apparently it has healing properties if you believe in that sort
of thing. A bunch of minerals supposed to heal like skin problems and apparently Cleopatra used to swim in there.
It's just after six right now the sun is setting and we are going to try to make our way out of
here now. We got here around one so we've been here about five hours. We got to see the pools
the Cleopatra pools, the ruins. It's really like a full day out here. I'm a little bit pooped so
we're going to make our way back to the hotel. So to get out of here we have to go all the way back
down to where you see that pool down there. Also in the travertine pools you can't wear your shoes
so shoes in hand here we go. Angela just made a good point. This place would never fly anywhere
in North America. The main reason being just a street drop down. If I take one step back I'm dead.
Some of this is not comfortable. Back in the hotel. We had some food. We are beat. It's been a long
day. We're gonna have a warm shower and pass out. So leave a comment below and like and subscribe
to see what happens next. Bye.
