Follow along to see what we get up to through the day! I'm adding some extra calcium sources to my diet to aid my bone healing (after a skateboard accident) so here's a typical day of eating for us at the moment. For reference Sarah is running about 40 miles a week due to the lock down (usually 50-60 miles).. I'm not running at all, but usually 80-100 miles per week.
Hello everybody and welcome back to the channel. We've got a really fun and interesting video
for you coming up today because yeah I've done a few of these sort of what I eat in a day quite
videos. Follow me around the day and seeing what we get up to. Well today we've got Sarah on board
as well so you've got two for the price of one. Double the food. Double the food, double the fun,
double the information. But as always guys this is just what we're eating during the day. We're
not saying you've got to do this and if you do this it'll make you an amazing runner or anything
like that. It's just yeah as I say what we get up to. So with anything we do diet related do your
own research and yeah there might be some little tips and tricks here to get a little bit more
fruit and veg in your diet. So yeah Sarah shall we crack on with this? Let's go. Let's go. Let's
get started. Right so guys first thing first it's breakfast time although the camera batteries
weren't charged very much this morning so it's a little bit later. It's about 10 o'clock now
and we're both starving. So Sarah talk everybody through what you're going to be having for your
breakfast today. I'm a bit boring and I have the same breakfast every day so I always have a bagel
with jam on top. And she's a fan of the New York baked bagels. And what else? And then a coffee
which you obviously won't have ever seen in Ben's videos. No don't drink coffee. I haven't got time
for that. I'm like this before food so what would I be like with some coffee as well? Yeah Sarah can
get stuck in with that. Sarah you get you go on your way getting your bagel toasted. And yeah if
you're finding this video a little bit later down the line or something you might not know but I
have I can't get it that high but I'm recovering from a fractured broken fibula in my ankle at the
moment. So trying to get a little bit more calcium into the diet to help with that repair and also
just a little bit more calories throughout the day because I'm working my body's working super hard
to repair that. So we're about four weeks ish coming up to four weeks post surgery that we
had done there. So for my breakfast I'm going to be having some Greek style sort of yogurt,
good protein sauce and good calcium sauce as well. Just a nice dollop, decent portion of the yogurt,
all of that calcium to fix my bones. Or one bone. I've only got one broken bone. And then yeah
strawberries, get those in. Blueberries, the best blueberries, so good. Look how nice they look
in the world. Chuck them in. What else? We're going to be putting some seeds,
seed nuts, sultana, just this packet of stuff. So what do we got? Pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds,
walnuts, pine kernels, almonds, sultanas and sesame seeds. Just chuck that on the top.
Don't have to worry about presentation, it's only me.
Just get this banana in as quick as we can and get that on top. What else are we doing? A few of the
chia seeds. You know me guys, chia seeds pretty much every single meal. We're having some chia
seeds in there. Chia seeds on pizza. Chia seeds on pizza is a good one, yeah. A little bit of
muesli over the top. This muesli, Sarah just said, we got this. I think we got it in Gran Canaria.
In Gran Canaria but we bought it home. No or Spain or somewhere, I don't know. Gran Canaria is Spain.
No but. No but, no but. I'm right, you're wrong. Right and yeah I'm just going to chop up that
kiwi, put that on board and yeah we'll see you at the desk in a bit.
Well guys, I'm going to get this breakfast down looking super nice. Most mornings I sit here,
chill with Kiki. She's just over here on her little perch at my desk, sort out orders
and yeah just check up on our coaching clients and just start work basically. We do pretty much
work a solid sort of nine to five in the flat at our desk running the coaching business essentially
and dealing with all the orders coming in from the websites.
Right guys, so we're here. It's lunchtime finally. I'm getting hungry. I've been doing
all of my exercises, rehab exercises. Sarah, what have you been doing this morning? I've just been
for a run or just come back from a run. Sarah's been for a run and then what did you have after?
I had a shake, like a recovery shake quickly. Little recovery shakes and I haven't had anything
since breakfast. So yeah, let's get cracking on some. So what Sarah is doing today,
how would you describe this Sarah? Just something you're just throwing together?
Yeah, like a lot of our meals that we tend to have, they're not really like a thing. They're
just like loads of ingredients just put together with like a sauce and then like rice. So we'd
normally have this like the night before and then have the leftovers for lunch. So basically
everything's just going into the pan. There's no particular order. I'm just starting with mushrooms.
You don't have to add mushrooms if you don't like them, just whatever you've got
in the fridge. Yeah, and we'll put all the rough sort of ingredients. Me and Sarah,
this is probably just going to be enough for this one meal. I'm really hungry at the moment so we
don't have leftovers for tomorrow, but we'll put all the ingredients on the blog and some
quantities on there as well. So yeah, down below if you want to go and check it out on the website.
So next into the pan, we've got some courgette, about half a courgette. We used the other half
looking really good. We'll get that up on a nice high heat and then some, now we're talking about
some things to help my legs, some calcium type stuff. Broccoli, really, really good calcium
sauce. So yeah, just a nice, what are they called? Like florets or something. Some broccoli into the
pan as well. I'm going to give this a little bit of a stir. Make yourself useful. Right guys, next
onto some tofu. Yeah, really nice. Well, to be honest, it's really rank and horrible, but you
can get these nice marinated tofus that we're seeing in the stores these days and they've got
loads of flavour and it's just a bit of a cheat in a way, but we really like them. So Sarah's just
going to chuck some chunks now in there. And now guys, the final sort of main ingredient,
Sarah's just going to put in some chard. It's like kale. Well, chard, kale, kind of the same
sort of thing. All the greens, really good for your calcium in there. So at the moment, it's
just veg in the pan plus the tofu, but to make it taste a bit nicer, we're going to put some garlic
paste in or like garlic powder and then some soy sauce and some sweet chili sauce. And how long
has all of this been cooking for so far? Like five minutes. So it's super quick and it'll be
done in like two. So yeah, really quick meal. If you are working from home, like a lot of us are at
the moment, something you just get in the kitchen about 10 minutes from start to finish, you've got
a really healthy, nutritious meal. All sizzling up really nicely. I don't know if you can hear that
on the microphones, but oh, getting hungry, getting hungry. Can't wait to get some good food down.
Give that a really good stir. We'll put in a little bit of salt and pepper, not too much salt
because we've already got some from like the soy sauce and the garlic paste has a bit of salt in,
but just a little bit. And the last thing that I'm doing is just one of these packets of, this one's
rice fruity and wheat berries, but you can get in like any form of packet grain. Let's go straight
in. I'm going to mix it up. And then guys, yeah, we're just going to give that a nice good stir,
get all that moisture into the rice and the rice will start absorbing things as it warms up. And
yeah, then just leave that basically for about another minute and a half, absolute tops. And
then we'll serve it up. So super quick dinner, 10 minutes, absolute tops that you can do at home,
feed the family, feed the kids. Well guys, time to get stuck into the lunch. So yeah,
me and Sarah are both obviously working from home. We've both got our desks here,
but just like to have a little bit of a catch up over lunch. Well guys, so it's the middle
of an afternoon and I normally have like a little snack. So today I've got the good old
British tradition, peans on toast and on one of the bits of toast, I've just put some hummus under
there as well. Yeah, just like I normally energy levels are trying to dropping about now. I'd
normally be going out for like the second run of the day or things, but I'm going to be going on
the bike very shortly. So yeah, just kind of getting the energy levels up for that, even though
we don't do much today. But yeah, calories are kind of up at the moment. As I said, I think in
the last video that we did, I'm trying to have a lot more because the body's trying to build extra
bones. It takes a lot out of me and my weight, even though I'm having more calories, my weight
is actually dropping steadily, which is a little bit of a concern, but still trying to get some
more calories down. So snacks, do you have any snacks during the day? If you have any snacks
today, a little bit of apple. Sarah is over here working at her desk, bit of apple and
a shake after a run and now she's getting hungry. So didn't get beans on toast. No,
just cooking for one being selfish supplements and things. So at the moment, yeah, I'm having like
calcium, magnesium and zinc supplement again, obviously to help with my bones. These are kind
of insurance policies for me. I'm trying to get that all naturally from food, the stuff I need,
but I'm just having that as an insurance thing just in case I don't quite hit it during the day.
And also just having a science and sport multivitamin again, just as an insurance.
Well guys, it's evening time and I'm back on the bike. It feels so good to be back on here. The
physio, my physio Scott had a Zoom consultation the other day and hold on, let's interchange gear
a bit. Zoom consultation the other day and yeah, he's given me permission to do 15 minutes a day,
just super easy peddling with the boot on, on the bike. So I'm doing my 15 minutes. Sarah's
doing a core workout down on the floor there. Say hello Sarah. Hi. She's struggling. I'm
struggling. Not really struggling, but very, very happy to be cycling. Right. Let's get
into the kitchen, finish this ride up, get into the kitchen and cook some dinner.
Okay. So it's dinner time. Ben, what are we having for dinner tonight? So it's chili on the cards
tonight. Going to get some beans, some mints, all in the pan, some lovely chili sauce, some
guacamole over the top. On a jacket potato. On a jacket potato tonight. But of course you can have
this on rice. You can put it in like taco. There's so much you can do. You can just put it on nachos.
The world's your oyster, but we don't eat oysters. Anyway. Right. So let's get this.
We're going to prep all the veggies and then we'll see in a bit when we start putting some stuff in
the pan.
Right guys. So let's get this show on the road. So starting out, we've just got some frozen onions
because we're kind of getting through everything that's in our freezer at the moment with the
everything that's going on. So frozen onions and then a little bit of frozen garlic as well.
Super handy to get these things at the supermarket and they taste pretty good as well.
So just going to let that simmer down just with a little bit of oil and yeah, just for a couple
of minutes just to let them brown up nicely. So as we said before, we're having the chili with
jacket potatoes. So we just put them in the microwave just so they cook through and then put
them in the oven for like 10 minutes just to get like crispy. So yeah, very safe there with a massive
Japanese knife. Sarah just picking the potatoes to put them into the microwave for about 10 minutes
or so. Like five on each side. And then finish them off in the oven. Right guys. So next in the pan
we're chucking in some of this meat, the alternative mince, which is like a soy protein type
mince. If you're a meaty set, then obviously chuck in your beef mince, turkey mince, any mince you
want. If you want a bit of a veggie, this stuff's quite good. So check it out. Right now we're going
to start to add some beans into. Sarah's just got some kidney beans here. So yeah, Sarah just give
them a wash. Always wash your beans when they come out of the can. And yeah, then we're going to add
in some tomatoes. Now we have got some pasta. We're running a bit short because like a lot of
the world, it's a little bit harder to get exactly what you want. So we've found an old jar of
pasta sauce here. So we're just going to, we normally put two cans of chopped tomatoes in,
but we'll substitute one of them with that. So in go the beans, can of chopped tomatoes.
And then what are we going to add? Probably about half of this sauce.
And then Sarah, if you want to put a bit of water in there as well to get a bit saucy.
Everything's okay and under control. We're just cheating a little bit as well. Just going to add
in some chilli con carne, spice mix. It's not really cheating. Just got to make things easier.
So get that. Maybe not all of it. That in there. Maybe not all of it. Too late. It's all gone in.
We super. You can tell who normally does the cooking around here. Yeah, me.
So let's give that a really good stir. I think that needs a little bit more water.
A little bit of salt and pepper, tiny bit in there, a little bit more water. And then we're
just going to let that simmer down nicely for about probably about 10 minutes or so just to
get all those flavors going, get them all excited, get them all talking to each other
and making a nice dinner. Meanwhile, we'll get the potato in the oven.
Oh, this is looking good. I'm getting really hungry. So yeah, just going to chuck in some
good old garden peas now. A little bit weird, but as I say, we're using up everything in our flat.
So get some peas in. One of those weirdly quite good protein sources. Looks like a nice little
bit of color in there. Sarah is just washing the spinach. So yeah, I do listen to you because I
don't normally wash my spinach, but we wash it every time now. So yeah, let's get some spinach
in there as well. Of course, great iron, good calcium as well in the spinach. Right, let's get
a lid on that, a lid on me yapping on as well. And then we're going to dish it up and we'll see you
on the sofa in a bit. Right guys, it's dinner time for me and Sarah. Sarah, what do you think of this?
How it tastes? Yeah, but it looks nice. Yeah. And it will taste nice. Get stuck in. Really happy
with that. Yeah. So other things we've had today. So I've also had some like some green
juice and a couple of digestive biscuits. So anything else to declare? Yeah. Confession
time. I think I had three biscuits, some crisps, a small amount. I think that's it. So yeah,
not a lot else. And also after this, I'll then have like a protein shake with some like coconut
milk and stuff and that will be it before bed. So yeah, guys, thank you very much for along.
If you like Sarah's hoodie, that's going to be on the website soon with 100% from all the profit
from every sale we'll donate to the National Emergency Fund, I think it's called. I'll put
all the details down below. So yeah, just trying to raise some money for all our frontline workers
out there. Thank you for all you're doing in keeping this country safe. It's just amazing
and we can't thank you enough. Me and Sarah are very lucky to have the choice to stay at home at
the moment. Not everybody has that. So thank you so, so much. I think, yeah, we are all in slightly
weird, tough times, but there are going to be much better times ahead. And as soon as this is over,
we'll be out running whenever we want and all these races and stuff, it is going to feel amazing.
But get out there, stay safe, run by yourself and stay at home as much as you possibly can. And
that's it. So thanks very much for along guys. Thank you to the Patreon supporters, everybody
that's buying hats and all the merch and stuff off the website as well. And all the plans and the new
240 plan is now available. And Sarah got the new plan coming out soon for hundreds,
hundred Ks and 50 miles. And then we'll get stuck into the 10K plans as well. So thanks
very much for following guys and we'll see you legs in the next one.
