Hey there! If you are pregnant or you plan on becoming pregnant soon, you're going to want
to stick around because I have yet another pregnancy update for you. This time it's about
transitioning into the third trimester, so I'll be covering weeks 26 to 28 in pregnancy. Coming up!
Hello beautiful mama or mama-to-be! Welcome to my channel. If you happen to be new here,
thank you for being here. My name is Nicole. I'm an intentional parenting coach. I'm a licensed
pediatric occupational therapist, and of course I'm a mama to a four-year-old beautiful son
and soon-to-be second babe. Not sure if it's a boy or a girl. And the whole point of this
YouTube channel is to make motherhood a little bit easier on you. I want it to be more joy-filled,
less stressful, and ultimately a place where you feel like you can expand and grow and just become
an overall better person for yourself and for your child. And I'm sharing tips, tools, strategies,
and my own personal experiences to help you do just that. If that sounds like something you're
into, please do me a favor and hit the subscribe button. Alright guys, I'm so happy I am in the
third trimester. On one hand, it went by extremely fast because I've been trying to keep up with a
four-year-old full-time, but on the other hand, I think this is where it really feels like it
starts to slow down, right? Things get a bit more challenging. So there's a few things I want to
share with you guys at this stage in pregnancy. So not a whole lot has changed if you caught my
last pregnancy update, but definitely around this time you're going to notice that your sleep is
most likely going to decrease. I'm up multiple times throughout the night now either to adjust
a pillow because I have some sort of ache or pain or because I have to pee two to three times in the
morning. The third trimester gets to be a little bit more of a challenge in terms of getting a full
night's sleep. So it's just preparing you for the lovely early days of a newborn, you know?
Breathe it in, my friend, breathe it in. So the next big thing that I've noticed around this time
is that I typically get about three to four hours a day of like solid energy where I am able to play
with my four-year-old, get some stuff done, or just be like focused and able to move through the
tasks that are on my list. And after that point, my body goes into conservation mode. And I would
just suggest that like the less you resist that, the better off you will be. It can be frustrating,
especially when you are used to going and going and having all of this energy, and then suddenly
your body really wants you or is indicating that we need to pull back. Like we're doing a lot over
a beautiful nudge or preparation for the new season that's coming. There is going to be a
slowdown when we bring this new life into our world. And the sooner we can embrace that, I think
the easier the transition will be for us to become new mamas. So I am transitioning, I am responding
to my body, and I am working with my body instead of fighting my body because it's so important to
take care of the only one we have, right? Especially while it is growing life. So listen
to your body. There might be changes in your energy levels, especially around this time.
Okay. I've mentioned this before, but especially like every baby is different, but this baby
especially not only moves a lot throughout the day, but like so strong, like so strong. I do
not remember Kai's movements being this like, wow, I was taken aback by all of that. So
really funny quick story. This child turns up at night. That's how Kai was too. They party at night
and semi-sleep during the day. But I was lying on my side last night. We were getting ready for bed
and my husband was drifting off to sleep. And this child just went ham and was like punching,
kicking, moving, like jostling my entire body. And my husband goes, did you feel that earthquake?
There was an earthquake. And I'm like, no, that's your child turning up. He was in disbelief. He's
like, no, it was an earthquake. I'm like, it definitely wasn't. It was definitely your child
turning up. So this is another potential factor in your lack of sleep. Maybe your baby goes ham
in the middle of the night. And in terms of medical updates. So at 28 weeks, my doctor wants
to see me back in for a growth ultrasound. So this will be my third ultrasound with this kiddo.
I had one when I first went in. So that had to have been around eight weeks or so. I had one,
I guess it was my fourth, technically. I had one when I first went in around eight weeks. I had one
at 13 weeks and then I had one at 20 weeks. So I assume this will be the last one. This is 28 weeks
just to make sure baby is not restricted. Every, I don't think this child is having a party in here,
but they just want to verify it's all good. It's also around this time that you'll probably do
your glucose test to check for gestational diabetes. So if you happen to be with Kaiser,
like I am, they want you to do it twice. So I did it around 13, 14 weeks and I get to do it again.
It doesn't bother me so much as long as that beverage is cold. They give me the orange flavor.
It is extremely sugary. You just suck it down, wait the 30 minutes or whatever. They draw your
blood and then you're done. Drink water, hang out for the rest of the day. It does make you feel
weird, obviously, because it's just like a rush of sugar into your bloodstream, but it's, it's
pretty painless. All right. And as always, I like to leave you guys with a hot tip. Okay. So this
is a tip I want to share with you. I actually haven't tried this yet, but this came from one
of my lovely subscribers who wrote in to me to tell me this and I think it's genius and I can't
wait to try it. So we are in the middle of summer. Okay. And third trimester, middle of summer,
not the best combination. Boob sweat is a real thing, especially when you're wearing bras. Like
it's, it's not fun, right? She shared with me that if you use one of the kids fever,
forehead strips, I didn't even know there were such a thing. It is actually cooling strips for
kids. If they have a fever, it just attaches to their forehead. If we utilize that, apparently
that helps with boob sweat. So I'm excited to order some on Amazon. I'll check some out and
I can link some options for you below if that's something you're into because boob sweat isn't
cute. Nobody wants that. So I'm excited to try that one. You guys will have to let me know if
you know about that or if you've tried it and it worked for you. If you have any other hot tips,
feel free to drop them in the comments below. I know other mamas would be incredibly grateful.
All right, my friends, before we wrap this up, I always like to give a little belly shot. So
this is me actually just prior to 28 weeks. So I don't know if I look a whole lot different than
the last video, but this is me at almost 28 weeks. Thank you so much for hanging out with me
and I will catch you in the next video.
