It's finally time to see Kaieteur Falls! After starting the day at the Rewa Eco lodge, we got a river boat upstream to the local 'airport'. Next it was time to jump on our chartered prop plane and head towards the largest single-drop waterfall in the world - Kaieteur Falls!
This was an incredible trip to one of the least visited countries in the world. From exploring the Amazon basin, to finding a harpies eagle nest, to staying in community eco lodges and finally flying to Kaiteur Falls - Guyana is a country to add your list.

Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon. That's why I am now running this video blog showing you how I travel the world continuously.
if you made it this far then let me know in the comments below!
Good morning and welcome back to Guyana. I'm at the Riwa Eco Lodge right now
deep in the heart of the jungle and this should be a pretty good video. It's the last video from
Guyana but I think it's probably going to be one of the best because I'm doing something that
I've wanted to do for a long time and it's one of the main most epic things to do here in Guyana
and maybe in South America, maybe the world, I don't know but we're going to see. First of all
we need to go and jump on a boat and travel about an hour and a half down the river to the airport
and then we're going to get going. I think today I'm going to use every mode of transport imaginable
just to get there. We're heading to a waterfall called Kaitor Falls that you can only get to by
flying in and we've chartered a plane to get there which is pretty cool in itself but you're
going to see. Yesterday here we went out on the boat and managed to find this. We just got in a
boat for an hour and a half and now we're looking for the Goliath bird-eating spider, a huge
tarantula here. Hopefully we're going to find it. So what I have here is the bird eating.
I mean once you feel comfortable and relaxed you should be okay and I think this one looks
pretty calm. What do the legs do? It gives you like an allergic reaction, some rash, it irritates
your skin but you also have two fangs that he can bite you with. They can give you a nasty bite
so let me pick it up. That old one. Wow okay that is really cool but you couldn't pay me
$10,000. Wait maybe $10,000. You couldn't pay me $1,000 to hold it because like although it's
cool I've got no interest in getting bitten or stung by the needles right here. I'm not even
that terrified of tarantulas to be fair. I can get close to it I just don't want to hold it. Anyway
side track but that's really cool and now fully rested it's time to get on the boat. This is Sid
he's the resident Agouti. Sid! Sidney. Sidney Agouti MacArthur James. Okay he's stopped. Bye bye.
How cool is this? That is our boarding terminal. That is the terminal I guess
and here is the runway. The plane isn't here yet so we're still gonna wait for it to like
see some skid marks here where it's gonna land and come along this runway. We're gonna throw
our baggage on and jump on. I've never done anything like this before this is very cool.
I'm standing on the runway right now which is basically a field and it's gonna be here soon.
There's also some goats I think there in the distance so we might need to clear them or
they'll probably get out of the way pretty quick. I think this just shows how remote we actually are
like this is it's just a field and to get out of here you do need to charter your own plane. There's
scheduled flights that come in here which is very cool something I've never done before.
We even did a hike here a couple days ago and you could just see forever that there was just
no one anywhere just endless jungle and you got a real sense of how out in the thick of it we are
ah they are actually sheep which we're clearing off the runway
so far we've been waiting for about 40 minutes which means the plane
is very late the only thing we can do is wait because there's no signal here whatsoever
obviously no wi-fi so can't really find out the status of it we just wait and fingers crossed
it turns up. I just heard the record for waiting here was it was meant to come at 9am and eventually
came at 5pm so fingers crossed we're not breaking that record today. All right Kiran's off to find
help. The last time I'm going to see you guys. There's a village about 10 minutes away where
we can get signal and call through to the airport plane. Kiran the guide has just gone to go to that
village and see if see what's going on and also get some snacks just in case we're here all day
two hours later here it is
just one hour 30 late in the end but it is here which is the main thing
so we need to go get on let's go okay here we go
okay we're on the way oh hey guys
nice of you to join us anyone need a ride? I think you're going to be on board after
we've got a full bottle for you guys thank you very much
we've been sipping on the local fly wine instead
all right the team has arrived hey guys let's see you have this next up kaiter falls
when we get to kaiter i'll circle the fall so you can guys can take pictures on one side
and do the same on the other side before landing
when we get there just remain seated until we open the doors also okay thank you
we are here at kaiter falls that was cool yeah so the flyby is one part of it and we're going
to get to fly past it again on the way out but we also get to hike towards it and get
a bit of a closer view but that was very epic you know it's 232 meters tall which is i think
four almost five times the size of niagara falls and it's the largest
single drop waterfall in the world just to give you a sense of the scale of what i'm looking at
wow
look at the size of this
did you do this
so we're trying to get the drone up we actually have permission to fly here because it's with
guyana tourism but because the airport is so close dgi is blocking us from being able to fly it as
soon as you get it up it comes straight back down which i've never seen before but we're
that close to the airport so you can't fly the drone at all
second viewpoint here we are
that is pretty incredible and one of the other cool things about it is you can only fly in like
there are other flights coming in from georgetown but the only way to get here really without a
traveling over land for about five days is to fly in and out and there's no other like you know
there's no people selling things this is like properly out in nature and a proper expedition
to get here really cool absolutely mind-blowing i think scott person do you know what did you
did you feel the reaction when you first saw it out the window
unbelievable was that uh yeah definitely a must do bit of a bucket list south america bucket list
yeah for sure man like um i didn't even put it on for the camera like looking out of the window
it was just kind of like whoa i think i said mamma mia which is kind of weird
okay and this is what we call the danger view we don't actually but this is the edge right here
okay so you can't really make this out but i was being told
earlier that the swifts will use behind the waterfall as their nest so what they'll do is
they'll go really up high and then dive down to make it through the running water and get to the
other side and they reach like 100 kilometers an hour and then go straight through and then that's
how they get to their nest which is being protected by the waterfall it's really cool to see it's very
to make out on the camera though
of the falls yeah i love them i think uh at like victoria falls it's too busy
as as someone who hasn't been to either i've never been to victoria falls or iguazu
but i do think this is epic and you've been to both i have country dropping though
but i mean that's nice to know because like one of the main things about this place is that you
can only really fly in so obviously there's hardly any tourists and it's completely natural
that's very cool well there you go what an end to this week it's been an incredible week getting
out into the nature and getting properly into a really remote part of one of the least visited
countries in the world into a place that probably not that many people have been tourists or
otherwise and then getting to finish up with this i'm not going to finish the video just yet because
we still have the flight out and i think that might be just as special but i just wanted to
do this little bit here before we now go jump on the plane for sunset
