(Premier League 2022/2023): Highlights Southampton - Brighton

Southampton and Brighton and Hove Albion the grand return is here at St Mary's Stadium. So the restart begins with Southampton 19th and Brighton 7th. South Coast team has been swept along by very different currents at the moment. You mentioned before about akin to a daydream Chris isn't it to come back into the domestic season. Here's Matoma and still Matoma gliding and denied by Bozunu. Faisedo, Lallana, now Solimarch and the flick towards goal goes underneath Bozunu and Adam Lallana the former Southampton man scores against his old club but it shouldn't have beaten Bozunu and all will know it. Good patient build-up once again Lallana right in the center of your picture there just rolls out of Solimarch then meanders into the box completely unmarked. Ward-Prowse and just wide of the post didn't need the touch from Sanchez but he was stretching. Hester Pinyan is busting a gut to try and get up alongside him and the ball comes the way of the Ecuadorian and March is waiting and he's forced in Brighton second. Isn't it it takes it on to his teammates shins if anything Veltman doing the carrying this time March has taken it off him still Solimarch the ball's big return in December it's March and Brighton this forward thinking team have a simply stunning third at St Mary's. One thing you know he's always going to come in on his left foot one thing that's not 100 percent certain is he's going to do that when he does that gives the goalkeeper absolutely no chance look at that that's why we watch football that's what it means to him. Now March as the rain falls at St Mary's just wide of the post I thought that was nailed on for a fourth from Matoma. He actually had a couple of games in charge after Sammy Hupia left his position as manager back in 2014 and one of them was a Boxing Day game against Reading which he drew 2-2. Here's a dozy and that's a penalty this free-flowing willingness to get forward it's such a tough one isn't it the ball's bobbling off his feet I was just lauding Pascal Gros it was that ripple of positivity from the St Mary's crowd a card for Robert Sanchez for a word out of turn so from the penalty spot Ward-Prowse Sanchez saves it Ward-Prowse scores the follow-up doesn't have salvation Prowse because it's a fantastic save by Sanchez however it's a good stop it's not a fantastic save I'll correct myself pushes it straight back into James Ward-Prowse's another bruising day for Southampton new manager same story
