She has rocked the tennis community and won four Grand Slams at 24.
Here is one of the world's best tennis seeds, Naomi Osaka.
The trickiest Japanese player quickly rose to fame when she won her first Grand Slam
after beating the legendary Serena Williams in 2018.
However, to some, it was not talent but pure luck.
But to Naomi, it was more than that.
In today's video, we will get to know more of the people behind Naomi's success,
who all have made a significant contribution to her tennis journey
Naomi's parents, Tamaki Osaka and Leonard Francois, the untold story.
Meet the future of WTA's amazing parents, Tamaki Osaka and Leonard Francois.
Naomi's mother, Tamaki Osaka, was initially from Nimuro, Hokkaido, Japan,
while her father, Leonard Francois, was from Jacmel, Haiti.
Tamaki and Leonard first laid eyes on each other when Leonard first visited Japan as a college student.
The two fell in love as if Cupid intentionally aimed and released his love arrow toward the two.
However, because of Tamaki's race and her family's belief about people of color,
their romantic relationship was full of twists and turns.
Back in the days, the Japanese followed strict racial purity rules,
and Tamaki followed Japan's norms, guidelines, and principles about foreigners,
particularly with the black.
Plus, Tamaki's father had already planned to arrange a marriage for their daughter to a Japanese man.
Because of this, Tamaki hid their relationship from her family for years until she couldn't anymore.
Her love towards Leonard changed her perspective about blacks,
and her love towards him gives her the strength to open up to her family.
The truth outraged her father for the disgrace she had brought to the family.
They all cut ties with Tamaki. It's as if they all disowned her.
This led her to move to Osaka with Leonard.
Before they migrated to Long Island, New York,
the interracial couple lived in Japan until Naomi was just three years old.
The couple worked hand in hand to develop their daughter's skills in tennis.
Leonard started training her children when they were around four and three years old.
But guess who inspired Leonard to train their daughters in tennis?
The Williams!
When Leonard watched the French Open in 1999, he was inspired by the Williams sisters.
He thought of honing his two girls' skills by following Richard Williams' training style
to his daughters Venus and Serena.
He decided to do the same to Mari and Naomi.
Leonard spent most of his days coaching and training the girls,
while his wife, Tamaki, worked hard to put food on the table.
The two girls grew up loving outdoor sports and becoming tennis stars.
Naomi's sister, Mari Osaka
Mari Osaka was born in Japan on April 3rd, 1996.
Though they lived in Japan for a couple of years,
the 5 feet 11 inches tennis star completed her basic education
from Elmont-Alden Terrace Primary School.
She then spent her high school in Florida at Broward Virtual Middle High School.
After graduating high school, her parents enrolled her at Florida Tennis SBT Academy
and the Pro World Tennis Academy with her sister, Naomi Osaka.
Their father intentionally enrolled them in the academies
for them to get international exposure.
The academies did not disappoint Leonard.
The academies honed the two to become one of the best seed sisters.
Following Venus and Serena Williams' footsteps
Mari started playing tennis at an early age and won local tournaments.
In September 2012, Mari also placed as runner-up at Amelia Island.
She was also runner-up at Goyang, South Korea in May 2017,
in Denain, France in July 2017, and in Florence, US in October 2018.
She was the first one to step into the international tennis arena.
She had her WTA professional debut in 2014 at the Bank of the West Classic Tournament.
Naomi continued to compete and chase her dreams of becoming one of the top-seeded tennis stars.
However, it seemed that luck must not be on her side.
She hasn't bagged any international title yet,
and the hopes that she will become WTA's number one seed has gone
as she retired last March 9, 2021 due to her injuries.
Mari left the court with a 2018 career high of 280th and a $1 million net worth.
She then notifies her fans and followers through an Instagram post.
I am retired from playing tennis.
It was a journey which I didn't enjoy ultimately,
but I'm grateful for all the memories and support I've gained
and received over the years from the sport.
I'm moving on now, so you can look forward to new fun projects upcoming in the future.
When Naomi was asked how she would describe her sister,
she said that Mari was her biggest support and the hardest enemy.
They have been facing and playing against each other since they were kids,
but their little rivalry creates the cutest bond
And just recently, the sisters supported UNICEF Japan's project
and launched fashionable face masks to support the fight against the global pandemic.
Mari introduced fashionable accessories to raise awareness and prevention against COVID-19.
Now we are down to Naomi's one of the most influential people in her life.
Before getting a suitable break in the music industry,
Cordae used to work as a waiter at Friday's and Texas Roadhouse.
Though he hated the work so much, Cordae endured it as he worked his way up as a rapper.
The rapper of African-American descent graduated high school
at Westlake High School in Waldorf in 2015.
After graduating, he enrolled at Towson University,
but unfortunately dropped out and followed his dream.
His passion and hard work produced a desirable result.
The talented rapper slowly made a name in the music industry
and gained fame after releasing a cover version of Eminem's song My Name Is.
Cordae gradually gets the people's attention after responding to Jermaine Lamar Cole's 1985.
The American rapper who has won the people's heart has over 2 million followers on his Instagram.
Cordae is a multi-talented, Grammy-nominated rapper-singer-songwriter
who has the birth name of Cordae Amari Dunston,

He then moved to Suitland, Maryland to pursue his dream of becoming an international rapper.
His passion for hip-hop paved the way for the music industry
as he became part of the YBN Collective in 2018, which was later disbanded.
In one of his interviews, Cordae revealed that he looked up to famous rappers
like Kanye West, Jay-Z, and Mac Miller to name a few.
After the group disbanded, he changed his name from YBN Cordae to Cordae
and focused on his singles.
He then released the Lost Boy album, which sold around 25,000 copies.
Because of his album's success, which peaked at number 6 on the Billboard Top Rap Albums chart,
Cordae received a Grammys Best Rap Album and Grammys Best Rap Song nominations.
Some of the notable songs that he made include
My Name Is, Location Ships, Fighting Temptations, What's Life, Have Mercy,

Now, if you're wondering how Naomi Osaka and Cordae met, we too are wondering just like you.
There was only a little information about their relationship,
but we are sure that the two were officially dating on July 19th, 2019.
Cordae, knowing no other tennis star but Serena Williams,
approached Naomi during a Clippers game.
They then start to get to know each other and later have their IG debut as couples in 2019.
This was backed by one of Cordae's posts that says

Thanks to his booming career and sponsors like Samsung and Disney,
the Grammy-nominated rapper also partnered with Disney Dreamers and ESPN, The Undefeated,
to give out scholarships to a select few youths
who attended the Historically Black Colleges and Universities, HBCUs.
His songs Liberated, Music for the Movement Vol. 3, and What's Life
remind everyone what is essential in life.
And it's not the material things that you have but your loved ones,
dreams, goals, and most importantly, your life.
All four people who have contributed to Naomi's success share the same common denominator.
