We've got a brand new series we want to bring you it's called
bake me happy and healthy and kick things off come on our
favorite. Yeah, I read to OK and when she's not cooking
she's enjoying the good life in her new series called Bobby and
Giada in Italy we wish we could. Discovery plus where the
2 of them follow we on and eating and drinking and cooking
a Strava gone OK boondoggle job. I mean I'm sorry what are
you about what the heck is this about I'm going to say is I'm
so grateful that we had this trip since now I've gotten
nowhere for a year just like everybody else and I don't know
what I get to Italy again so thank goodness. I had this
trip to tell us about this trip. He Bobby's a good friend
of yours talk about what y'all saw oh my God here comes your
cat. You know, I you know what it is the minute she sees food
or smells food, it. So I try to keep her off the set, but it
makes it very difficult to get your cat like pasta is it like
Garfield. Well, the thing is she likes cheese and this cheese
and that's right so she smells that she's now she's telling
the camera.
And she's just you know anyway, so we had a blast, yes, I've
been friends for I don't know maybe over 15 years and you
know, he's a huge fan of Italy huge and I think that's where
our friendship sort of connected and he was just like
we really need to do a trip together in Italy and shoot it
and I said you just want a free vacation is that what's
happening here.
I think you know what I just really think of the great for
people to see the 2 different perspectives I was obviously
born there my mother was there and I and he's someone new to
to Italy and I think that the the way that we both see the
country, the people, the food would be make a great show and
lo and behold we did it now you all when you have someone when
you travel. You know the real them so it's Bobby. What is he
really like
you know. I will I'm not going to lie and tell you I didn't
have my trepidations about it. I did but we actually had a
blast now I will say we took you know we also spent some
time separated because he would go to a flour mill and he would
do things on his own I would go learn. You know how to make
fresh the cost and do my own thing so we did spend days
where we were separate.
Thank goodness, any relationship, it's good to have
some breaks from each other.
Okay, yeah, you're making something that I think we all
are going to want to create this is some pasta with roasted
vegetables.
Yeah, so you guys have a big week right so I thought I would
do my big hit me with a roasted vegetables, so it's slightly
healthier because it's all that you there's no need since it's
January, but it's also super decadent and that so what I did
it here is I just chopped up some veggies carrots, I'm sorry
not care. Squash red bell peppers and
onion and mushrooms and you sort of just chop them up
together put them on the baking sheet and I put a little bit of
herb de Provence over the top and up to Provence is really
just a dry or mix.
They say it's French because of the runs but really can be
Italian it can be anything and different stores so different
mixtures, but basically time rosemary lavender sometimes
fennel things like that salt and I just kind of talk it all
together I already did the olive oil, I just put some
olive oil over the top and we pop in a 450 degree oven for
about 15 minutes.
And we're going to do that and throw it in the oven right now
since we have time.
And then
we have
they pop out like you feel like kids would even like that.
Yeah, because they're super flavorful and you know you
could just
you can just pick whatever vegetables, your kids like for
instance, my daughter's not a big mushroom thing right so I
would probably leave the muscles out at broccoli or
cauliflower anything that they might be really it doesn't
matter right then you pre cook your pasta so I've already
cooked my pin and I kind of undercooked them a little bit
of a little bit of a fight that they're going to continue to
cook in the oven now for another 25 minutes, this has
been a debate here. She doesn't like crunching on my
pasta to her we have we have to do it that way right. I love it
well then take nobody likes it like that.
So if you put this all the way you're going to be.
It's going to be so I mean if you like it.
Yeah, it should be all that did the idea is that this the past
that regularly and just a regular path that finishes to
cook in whatever sauce, it is that the whole idea all right
to make sense and yet and then what and you can make your own
thoughts if you have time and if you don't you can use jar,
whatever your favorite chart thought that then I take all
that I don't want to hear. And the great thing about this
guy that you can prep all of this in advance, I like to put
the paper on that this is not helpful.
Yeah,
the cat will clean everything and I have that there's 2 dogs
here too so they can clean it perfect. He and then here we go
with the chief. Yeah.
Lots of cheese, you guys know if I'm Tina it's a nice soft
cheese, it's from the north of Italy. It's got a nice sort of
mellow it got more for the month that and that but it's
definitely not as pungent as a career, one of those that you
could substitute with those out that a little bit of smoke
about that and that a little bit. We like to say more to
have a job. Yeah, I guess we are kind of run out of time.
Do you bake it.
You bake it for 25 minutes at 450 degrees would you like to
see what it looks like please.
In the meantime, I just want to say
that 2 episodes are in Rome of this show and 2 episodes are in
Tuscany oh my God, I got to tell you yeah, it was
I can't I can't figure out which one was my favorite,
but I think Tuscany may have beat it out only because I
haven't spent much time there and it was just
while drinking wine in a vineyard. Yeah, honestly next
time you do a show like this can you invite. Yeah, Bobby
this show got made because of Bob. I would have been there
either. And dispensable it's a body's got to come.
Awesome, it's good seeing you again honey, we'll see you
soon.
For that guy. For this recipe go to today dot com slash.
And that's the way to really learn about the country is to
immerse yourself in the culture and that's just what our pal
Bobby Flay did when he spent 6 weeks and Italy and lucky
Bobby, you know, it's tour guide was job job in the
Laurentiis who was born in Rome and you too can go along for
the adventure. They have a new show it's called Bobby and
jotted Italy, yeah, and you can find it on discovery plus chow
by the how are you how are you guys doing so.
So happy to talk to you today. Yeah, John I have that time.
One last year and we spent about a month there and
you know, luckily, you know because we're we're we're part
of this the discovery family. They wanted to to help watch
discovery plus with with the show that we spent. We did we
did 4 episodes. 2 in Rome and 2 in Tuscany wanted to do you
2 in the city to the country that is it.
I know place like it, I'm just so upset that it will be out
middle of a restaurant.
As he's in Las Vegas and they call it out about the about
those. Oh that's a way you and John are very close so what did
you learn about her.
And we'll tell you what you learned about you because we
had her on last week and we we asked, but what did you learn
about her that you didn't know.
Well the thing that I love about John in Italy is that she
had she's so much more relaxed when she's in her in her
hometown, especially in a place like she grew up.
And I don't know if you've ever met her mother, but my favorite
people in the world. It's like it's like you got out of
steroids and so I just I love I love the I love it because he's
just so relaxed, we've always got to know smile here and you
you know she's she's going to make you said she's an amazing
tour guide, you know giving me all the place like well is a
great because I love the place so much.
Well, she said you are messy. She said it was good that you
guys are on opposite opposite cities most of the time that
it was great.
This dish, I know you're obsessed with it and I just
read about it this morning and I decided I'm going to make it
for football on Sunday, tell us what you're cooking.
I think that's really perfect. And let's face it anything
that you know she's yeah, we can get something to me it's
like it's the greatest. So this is so simple so that they
can kind of dish, it's a car she's some fun team, she's
with you a little bit not and that's a and that's pretty
cheap if you want to which is likely to be or you can
definitely use the American South she's as well and what
you do is you mix those 3 ingredients in a bowl and then
I put it in a little as well which is like a person where
there's some you can put it in the up to the table which is
really cheap.
And that's a part of the job, you know right, yeah, it's
great some part of the job on top.
And then some breadcrumbs just for a little bit of crush on
there as well and then we just put it out for like 6 or 7
minutes.
It really takes no time at all and then as soon as it comes
out serve it it from in the same container right to the
table and what I like to do is give it a little brightness is
just going to be a little bit of what is that and there's a
fresher that's a fresher even a year and then you start with
like a toast and bread or chips, you know obviously
generally the game, you know any kind of work that he did
but I you know just be sort of the it's high sensibility at a
little close to you know, we'll tell you the perfect, it's so
simple just a few really looks yummy, I've seen it with some
tomato sauce to have you ever seen it that way.
Yeah, I I what I do is I think like almost like a vinaigrette
with sun-dried tomatoes so it's not right to me to get a
blended with a little bit of
you know you get that like that sweet acidity and just kind of
like this up the creaminess of the car.
She's all right in case and I'm all in you know what Sunday
it's a day all right, Bobby good to see you honey.
