So here's Jordan Lyles 32 years
old he took the loss against the
Twins as the Royals were shut
out.
So righties were five for 12
but lefties were 0 for nine and
had trouble with his four seam
fastball stayed with the
fastball and tied him up just
enough and Nate Eaton makes the
play in center field one out.
So that'll bring up Vladimir
Guerrero Jr. who continues to
have a great start to the
season and he just flares it
into right field.
That was a good pitch by Lyles
a slider down off the outside
corner low and let he just took
it the other way for a base
hit.
So now Dalton Varsho up into the
three spot and he lines one down
the right field line a fair ball
Guerrero is on his way to third
Varsho into second with yet
another hit now six for his last
nine and the Blue Jays are in
business here in the top of the
first and the Royals will play
with the infield in on Matt
Chapman and he drills a ball to
the left field and it is off the
wall Guerrero into score Varsho
coming in behind him a two run
double for Matt Chapman as he
has given the Blue Jays an early
two to nothing lead and making
his second start of the regular
season is Kevin Gossman.
Kevin Gossman had a good outing
his first time out on game two
in St. Louis.
He gave up three runs but they
were all unearned runs and there
it is a fastball at the knees
for strike three called and
they're a good splitter to get
him and back to back strikeouts
for Gossman to start his day.
Salvador Perez swings at the
first pitch fly ball to shallow
center easy play for Kevin
Kiermaier and a very nice first
inning for Kevin Gossman.
Kevin Kiermaier is three out of
eight against the Royals and
Lyle's got a piece of that
slowed it down but it's still
into center and Kiermaier is
accelerating into second and in
there with a hustle double.
Never assuming anything comes
out of the box anticipating
getting the second base and
headfirst.
So it puts a runner in scoring
position for Bo Bichette one to
Bichette serves it in a line out
to right field it's down for a
base hit Prado comes up throwing
Kiermaier is around third on his
way to the plate he'll score.
It's an RBI single for Bo
Bichette and the Blue Jays have
a three nothing lead.
It just is so much better as a
hitter to hit with a guy at
second Kiermaier set it all up
with two outs.
Here is Hunter Dozier the third
baseman this afternoon for the
Royals leading it off against
Kevin Gossman who has set down
the first six batters he has
faced in order and a swing and a
miss.
Gossman takes care of him on
three pitches.
Kevin's got it working so far
today.
The splitter has been very good
diving late.
There is one away in the bottom
of the third brings up Nick
Prado Prado Lace is in right
center field down into the gap
a base hit right on cue Nick
Prado serves one up a one out
single that's Prado's first hit
at the big league level this
year.
Here's Bobby Wood Jr. with
Prado at first base and two
down and he swings at the first
pitch and pops it up.
Belt into foul territory has
room and makes the catch and
that is that Kevin Vigio who was
called out on strikes his first
time up and a high fly ball well
hit to right Prado back.
At the wall it is gone way off
the back wall of the Royals
bullpen.
First home run of the season for
Kevin Vigio makes it a four to
nothing game.
Boy he put a good swing on that
one one hundred and four miles
an hour four hundred feet into
the back of the bullpen in right
field.
It's the first man here in this
fifth inning brings up Vlad
Junior Vladimir Guerrero Junior
launches one to left center
field and it's gone.
His second in as many games and
it is now a five to nothing
lead.
And look at how far that one
went.
Easy swing and he's certainly not
trying to hit it four hundred
and thirty six feet but because
he's in such a good spot right
now the ball jumps off his back
four innings one hit one runner
he has set down twelve of thirteen
Royals one to check swing at a
slider down in the dirt.
Did he go.
Yes.
It's going around strikeout
number five for Gaussman one to
splitter swing and a miss three
straight strikeouts give him six
on the ball game two down here
in the fifth Dozier is on with a
two out walk and now Nick Prado
who has the Royals only hit with
a single in the right center
field.
How about that.
Ninety five on the corner
nothing but fastballs seven
strikeouts for Kevin Gaussman
Laddie's saved it first Bichette
over to second.
So two men on for Dalton Varsh
who is one for three and he
sends one to left field and
that's going to drop for a base
hit the shed around third on his
way home.
It's an RBI single for Varsha
Guerrero stops at second.
It is six to nothing.
Gaussman is through six innings
two hits two walks and he is
struck out seven Olivarez rips
it back of the middle Bichette
to his left can't get their base
hit in the center field and
Edward Olivarez starts the
inning with a single brings up
Michael Massey now Massey lines
it into right center field.
That's his first hit but he's
hit the ball hard twice and the
royals have two on with nobody
out six plus in the shutout bid
today for Kevin Gaussman he'll
depart with the book open
runners at first and second
Anthony Bass will take over for
the Blue Jays and a swing and a
miss he makes quick work of
Dozier.
He's got a great slider so it'll
be runners at first and third
with two down.
Here's Nate Eaton and he got
him.
What a job by Anthony Bass
getting three outs and stranding
a couple of runners the top of
the order.
Bobby Witt solid single his last
time up belted to left field.
That ball needs to straighten up
it will and it's gone.
So the royals busted the shutout
as Lowe pitched the ball hit it
high and deep.
The only question was would it
stay fair.
It did.
I've straight have reached MJ
Melendez walk Salvador Perez
single Asquintino and Olivarez
have RBI hits and now Fran
Milroy is going to pinch hit
with a chance to tie it infield
is back or the Blue Jays they'll
concede a run to get an out
slider top to third Chapman
looks the runner back and makes
the play one down fifth pitcher
of the game third pitcher here
in the eighth inning is Jimmy
Garcia opportunity for Dozier to
redeem himself and a swing and a
miss a big second out.
So the Blue Jays are one pitch
away from giving up three runs
and feeling good about the
inning.
And he does he strikes out
Prado a great job by Jimmy
Garcia to shut this down.
And now it's MJ Melendez over
two with a couple of walks as
the royals are down to their
final out.
And there it is Adam Simmer gets
it done as he strikes out
Melendez retires the side in
order picks up the save.
