What did Dylan Dodd do in his
first game that had Brian
Snitker say he's going right
back out there for game two.
Well the best way to impress a
pitching coach or a manager is
to be fearless on the mound and
fill up the strike zone and
that's what he does.
He only had thirty four walks
and one hundred and fifty six
innings in his entire minor
league career.
Top of the second for this game
here at Truist Park.
Jake Cronenworth coming up for
the Padres against the young
left hander Dylan Dodd.
Next one at Cronenworth and
this one is lifted deep to right
field back goes Acuna.
He watches it off the base of
the wall fielded cleanly strong
crowd a second not in time on
an arm by Acuna and good hustle
by Cronenworth and a lead off
double.
So here is Kim last year's
shortstop.
He swings at the first one this
one to the gap and that's going
to get down off the wall.
That's going to bring
Cronenworth in from second back
to back doubles one nothing
Padres.
About that not wasting any time
whatsoever.
The adjustment seems to be
swinging early against Dodds
and Bogaerts just rifled a shot
he's aboard some Bogaerts at
first for Manny Machado Manny
swings at the first one Acuna is
going to have to come hard.
Here he comes.
Oh what a catch by Ronald Acuna
no but dropped it and it's a
fair ball I believe so going to
third base is Bogaerts everybody
froze there it looked like he
had it in fair territory and
then he lost it and as a result
going to third a good hustle is
Bogaerts Nelson Cruz who got the
day off yesterday again plenty
of room between first and second
I'll be shaded up the middle that
ball is ripped and Nelson Cruz
has left the building a three
run home run from the forty two
year old designated hitter can't
make a mistake like that to the
boomstick still got some bad
speed over one hundred and eight
miles an hour top of the fourth
inning in Atlanta Padres with a
four nothing lead on the Braves
this ball is hard off the bat of
Trent Grisham and that one is
gone the Padres continue to
attack Dodd with that first
pitch and they have capitalized
in a major way.
Trent Grisham second time he
hits the ball hard first time
he's able to be rewarded for it.
Manny Machado coming to bat
that's a fair ball down the line
and rounding here's that throw
from Acuna and second base
Manny Machado that's a great
play by Manny Machado with two
outs force Acuna to throw you
out he did lefty to lefty against
Juan Soto Goodwood here deep
right center field and off the
top of the wall for Soto about a
two strike double off Dodd
choked up shortened up was able
to slow down the at bat with that
throw to and be himself Soto
having a good game a single and
a double now and here's Cruz who
homered his last time up and
this one is hooked into left
that's going to get down and it
is a fair ball.
Nelson Cruz picks up another RBI
and it bounces into the stands
for a ground rule double home
run a double four runs batted in
for the boomstick has not been a
day at the beach for that guy
Dylan Dodd he's coming out of
the game looks like the lefty
Lucas Littke is coming in Braves
got a big hole to dig out of six
if a song drove in the first
Padre run of the night with an
RBI double in the second inning
that played in Jake Cronenworth
that's a really good job by Kim
this one is deep at the wall
leaping and it is over the wall
and Eddie Rosario Kim went down
and took this off the ground for
a two run shot and it's eight
nothing looks like he overran it
to the point where he was a
little towards to the left of
the ball when he reaches out
hits right off the end of the
glove here Seth Lugo gave you
good seven innings his first
time out we're in the bottom of
the fifth he's got a commanding
eight nothing leading give you
another seven innings tonight
RC off the end of this bat and
that's through snakes its way
all the way to Trent Grisham in
center field and lead off single
for Orlando RCA hard shot up the
middle RCA turns he'll go to
third Soto's throw comes in and
the eight nine hitters RCA and
Hilliard back to back singles
off Lugo this feels like the
Braves chance if you're going to
do something tonight down eight
zip you do it here with nobody
out top of the order up back up
the middle it goes right past
Lugo Campbell go to third and he
will get Hilliard there Wow
Hassan Kim cuts down Hilliard at
third the one comes in and a
quick dip goes to first now
they're loaded this is this is
an historic potential night for
Nelson Cruz and that one's going
to get down in center field
he's adding to his RBI total he
had four before that at bat he's
got six now he brings in two
more and the Padres have reached
double digits six RBI night for
Nelson Cruz we watch Olsen step
in with two on here three two on
the way to Olsen and that one's
in the left field and that's
going to get down in front of
Soto that's going to bring in
the Braves second run RBI Matt
Olsen and the boomstick still
getting it done and here he is
to lead off the ninth inning
out on that back leg we're going
to get hit it's a good place to
get hit tell his foot that he
ran on the bunion to Adam of the
ninth inning Nabil Chris Matt
worked to scoreless eight back
out there to try and finish this
thing off Padres in front of the
Braves tended to want to swing
and miss Chris Matt strikes him
out that is the second of the
night for Nabil and one away in
the bottom of the ninth inning
Padres two outs away from taking
three out of four here in
Atlanta what a start to this
road trip pitch Olsen grounded
off Chris Matt's glove deflects
to the right side Kim tracks it
down throw to first is in time
and the Braves are down to their
final out in the bottom of the
ninth inning Adrian's and now
steps to the plate for the
Braves the two down and a pop up
here comes Soto if it lands in
his glove that'll do it and the
Padres take three or four from
Atlanta and do it on Sunday
night in decisive fashion thanks
to six RBI from Nelson Cruz and
a couple of hits from Soto 10 to
the final a lot of loud sounds
off the bats of the Padres
tonight except Lugo looking the
very much the part of a good
starting rotation member.
