dollars over the last 15 years but what's been harder than doing that and
that hasn't been easy I assure you what's been hard is seeing all the kids
you can't help. It's not just about literacy at the Agassi Prep School.
Here children are encouraged to follow and emulate the lives and thoughts of some of
history's greatest men. A few of whom have had great influence on Agassi himself.
Andre this is a very special area for you I mean when we looked at this you
obviously first with your picture here and what Winston Churchill said all these
sayings mean a lot to you. Well they do and it means a lot to these kids at this
stage of their life this is the middle school and when you're in middle school
you start to ask real questions and you need to give them real direction as to
what their future can look like and I wanted to think about people that have
changed the world that these people who have changed the world are actually real
people just like you and they started just like you in many cases and what
they've done is unparalleled you know and I mean I picture of me's up because
I'm here a lot and so they can see me and as a result of the work that I've
done they have this school but then they can see what all the people that have
inspired me and what they've done for so many more and not to forget you know
these these quotes are powerful. Wonderful. This man this man and impacted
my life even though I met him only one time you know talk about somebody who
lives his values talk about somebody who never took any shortcuts for what he
stands for and what he is trying to accomplish and who he is is mesmerizing
to me and and this quote is incredible for to be free is not merely to cast off
one's change but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedoms of
and then of course we have Gandhi what what inspired you to have Mahatma Gandhi
up here well I mean he said he has said many things and that have changed the
way we look at ourselves I loved this quote from him we must become the change
we want to see you know we stop talking about it and start living it we have to
become what we believe everything else should be
meanwhile Steffi Graf founded children for tomorrow in 1998 to help mentally and
emotionally traumatized children who have been victims of violence and war
I learned to be myself
I learned to find my way
project in Hamburg children for tomorrow you got started in 98 this is almost
even before you had quit the game it was yeah no I you know through tennis I
would come a lot through Hamburg where there was one of the big tournaments and
I have still some some good friends and gotten to know these doctors that work
at the University in Eppendorf and they you know talked a lot about what they
were doing dealing with dealing and treating traumatized children traumatized
through war persecution and violence when you look at a war-torn area you
know you see the devastation you see the physical you see the visible wounds but
you don't really you don't look often at what really goes through on inside
people live in there the children that grew up in these environments so you
know being intimately involved in understanding what their work was and
the difficulties they had and making people aware of the research that they
were doing and the work that they were doing I became involved and since then
we've opened up projects in Cape Town, Uganda, Eritrea, Kosovo, we've started
projects all over and unfortunately there's a constant need for it. Does it feel like
I mean would that feel like real business to you? It seems more like a
philanthropic effort to be able to educate different parts of the country.
It's a passion you know I mean you know what if you look at the things that have
changed the world they're from people who are passionate about what they do
and the difference it will make to society so I don't I don't differentiate
that you know I mean what I did on the tennis court was was an ability to
affect people for a couple hours I mean you change their lives you give them a
break from their lives you entertain them you give them a memory they can
keep a moment they can share with their family this is this is a lot of
value in people's lives but now post tennis I believe we have a platform to
to impact you know not just hundreds of thousands of lives but to impact
generations so is it is it a passion of philanthropy unquestionably but is there
business associated with it that's the only way to do it but anytime you're
passionate about business you can make real social change. Both of you together
or individually have not visited my country India and you have millions of
fans in our part of the world. You know there's a few trips that we've been
talking about now that our kids are old enough that we want them to experience
with us and India has been clearly one of them that we've talked a lot about so
take us take us. And I love the food I love the food and I want to see the
culture and the people and it's place one of the few places that we haven't
been that we just we want to come to. Well we would love to have you there and
I'd be delighted to show you around look forward to doing that in the very near
future thank you so much for joining us on dimensions it's very special to have
you both with us and we certainly hope you make that visit to India and more
than anything else it's talking to you have been a real delight and getting to
know you even better it's just what we all expected of the two of you thank you
so much. Thank you. From my perspective you know one of the things that Pete was
greatest at was making you less but I think his greatest ability was to kind
of lull you into this sense that you know that you don't have to do something
special today he would hold serve you would hold serve he would play very
ordinary for 35 minutes 40 minutes and then for 30 seconds he would do something
spectacular and the set was over with so when I played against him I was always
