André's latest painful run of losses in a very painful season had come to an end with
a draw at home to Nice last time out.
They remain 10 points shy of 19th-placed Ajaccio, a winner since September, and even the most
loyal of the SCO faithful wouldn't have been overly optimistic regarding the prospect of
a visit from an in-form Lille side.
LOSC had won their previous two matches against Toulouse and Lorient and had only lost once
since January.
Turn that run of form and move the visitors into the final European spot.
So they, unsurprisingly, started brightly.
Angel Gomez was the first to try his luck, a former United youngster letting fly from
range, but Paul Bernardoni equaled to the effort.
Jonathan David soon after also failed to make it 20 goals this term when Bernardoni spilled
another Gomez effort into his path.
Bernardoni made amends soon after when Gomez and David combined for another chance, making
a good double save from the latter.
The goalkeeper was then on his toes again, paring away an Alexandro header.
He was goalless at the break, though not for the want of Lille trying.
LOSC had won just one of their last eight top-flight meetings with Les Dogues, having
won five of their first seven since their return to the top flight in 2015.
They began to grow into the game after the restart.
Adrian Unu should have done better and a blaze off target when he was slipped through by
Bentaleb.
Bentaleb then took matters into his own hands soon after, forcing a good save from Bernardoni's
opposite number, Lucas Chevalier, with a volley.
This goes new coach Alexandre Dujeux watching on from the sidelines.
Bentaleb Unu then combined again, the latter's header also saved by the Lille shot-stopper.
Not bothered by the sun in his eyes, wearing a cap, doing the job.
At the other end, a Bernardoni-David battle went another round.
Once again, the keeper coming out on top, despite a well-struck half-volley from the
Canada international.
Bernardoni's five saves against Lille, it's his second-best tally of the season, being
only done better against Troyes.
Unge would make the most of his heroics, Khalid Sabanovic introduced late on and making the
difference, poking home at the back post after Chevalier had parried Unu's shot.
In the right place, at the right time.
Not the prettiest goal, but they all count.
After such a long wait for a win, Moscow fans won't worry too much about how the goal comes.
One more piece of assured goalkeeping from Bernardoni, and that would be that.
Unge win a Ligue 1 Uber Eats game for the first time since 18th September 2022, winning
a run of 21 games without success in the top flight, the longest in their history, giving
them perhaps the slightest glimmer of hope heading into the final stretch.
Moscow, meanwhile, remain in the top five, but drop back from those above them.
