This is my gear for travel vlogging in 2017. I started off with a point and shoot camera and have slowly built up my camera bag. You don't need all of this stuff to become a travel vlogger but this equipment is what I now use to create my travel videos. You could start out with just a camera phone and that would be enough! Thanks for watching and I can't wait for the rest of 2017!
I am always searching for new music, if you would like me to feature and credit one of your tracks - please contact me on Facebook or via email. Thanks!

Travel has changed my life and I have no plans on stopping any time soon.
That's why I am now running this video blog showing you how to travel the world continuously
FAQ:
How did you learn to edit? I taught myself. I downloaded Premiere Pro and began to figure out how to use it through trial and error. My videos were pretty bad at first but eventually, and with the help of many tutorials, you start to figure out what works.
What work are you doing? I started off running this video blog while doing freelance web design and video editing to supplement my travelling lifestyle. I now rely solely on this blog to generate revenue through advertising, affiliate links and sponsorship opportunities.
How do you meet the people in your videos? Hostels, guesthouses and conversations! You meet people so easily while travelling. Just open yourself up and you will meet all sorts of amazing people. ' Where do you live? Right now, I travel the world continuously and so do not have a permanent base anywhere.
Any more questions, please post in the comments below!
Good morning and welcome back to another episode.
Today I'm going to be talking entirely about gear and everything I'm going to be using
for 2017 to travel vlog.
If you're not interested in gear and you're not interested in photography or video making
then you can go ahead and skip this video but I'm going to jump right into it and show
you what I'm going to be using.
So right now I'm filming this on a Canon 700D with a Rode VideoMic Go and a GorillaPod
as a tripod and this is what I've been using for the whole of 2016 and it's done really
well for me.
I've loved it.
The camera's light.
Oh yeah, I've also got a 10-18mm Canon lens on there which is my go-to choice so far but
I'm upgrading this.
This is a Canon 80D so this is going to be the main vlogging camera for 2017 and I hope
you notice a step up in quality because it should be.
This has a much better sensor.
It can film 60fps.
The 700D can just do 30fps at 1080p.
It is an all-round better camera.
It's heavier and I have enjoyed having this light camera but this is just going to be
a big step up, I hope.
It comes with the 18-135mm lens, this bad boy, and you get massive zoom on that.
I don't know when I'll be using the full zoom on this that much but it is nice to have that
option.
Up until now I've just had the 10-18mm and the 18-55mm.
I'm also going to carry on using the 10-18mm by the way.
I'm going to take that off of this camera and use it with the 80D.
Hopefully this is charged.
I really should have thought about charging it before I did this video but whatever.
It is definitely not charged so I'm going to carry on doing the rest of this video with
this camera instead and start using it from the next video.
But I'm really excited about this.
For photography it's going to be a lot better.
I'm not something I want to step up my game in this year but for video I think I can do
a lot more with this camera.
If you are just starting out then the 700D would be a great choice for a travel vlogging
camera.
It's been great for me this year, last year.
Work that on charge over here.
It does help a little bit though because it means I can show you all of my camera gear
that I'm going to be using this year using my 700D.
I'm going to stop using this as it goes forward for the rest of the year because I'll get
much better quality from the 80D.
So this is my gear.
Actually that's my gear including everything but the GorillaPod, the mic and this camera
and lens.
So I'm going to switch over to my phone quickly to show you everything together.
Actually I decided to film this on my sister's camera but this is everything I have.
Right and on with the show.
I don't really know how to do this so you can see it clearly so I'm doing it from the
floor.
Bluetooth speaker, power bank, second power bank, DJI Phantom 4 drone.
I just bought that like a month ago and I love it.
I was thinking about getting the Mavic Pro but this has much better quality.
It's a bit more of a mission to carry around but I've just ordered a drone backpack to
put it in which should make all that okay.
Which brings me to the backpack.
This is a Manfrotto Advanced Travel Backpack which I thought would be okay but I've now
found out the drone doesn't fit.
So now I need the D1 drone backpack which was actually mentioned and recommended by
Christian LeBlanc as well so thank you for that.
18-55mm lens.
Like we said earlier, 18-135mm lens for my new ATD.
Deadcat for my Rode VideoMic Go.
Really useful.
It blocks out all the wind and I've been wanting one of these for a while.
Cover for my G7X Mark II which has been sold as the perfect vlogging camera and I love
it to be honest.
The quality on this is amazing.
Sometimes the quality I get on that is better than the stuff I get on the 700D.
We have my laptop.
I've had that for a year and a half now and it still does video editing for me perfectly.
It's 8GB of RAM.
I think it cost me like $400 Australian dollars when I was in Australia.
Yeah, it's just kept going.
I have my GoPro Hero 4 Black and my old GoPro Hero 3 Black which I just keep as a backup.
I don't know if you can see but there's, I mean you definitely can't see, there's a little
spot on the lens, on the inside of the lens, so it doesn't get perfect video but I still
keep it and use it.
Wireless mouse, a lifesaver if you're going to be editing and other than that, just GoPro
accessories, Bobby Gopal and a GoPro chest harness.
Wait, external hard drives, essential.
I've already been through another two of them.
If you're going to keep your videos while you're travel vlogging, you will build up
a lot of data and it's up to you whether you try and upload it to a cloud or anything but
depending on where you are, the internet might make that difficult.
If you're travelling around Asia or other places that the internet isn't always perfect,
you need external hard drives to back up your stuff.
And that is pretty much it.
Yeah, that's my gear for 2017.
I'm going to be backpacking a lot of it so I need to figure out a way to carry it.
Hopefully that new backpack arrives today.
So just in the way of proof, my ATD now goes in there and my drone goes in there.
That's why I need a new GorillaPod.
I've had this one for like, I don't know, a year and the longer you have it, the more
it starts to bend and your camera falls over but I'm going to get a new one of them as
well because the ATD is heavier and I think I need the metal one rather than the plastic
one I have now.
What other information can I give you of value?
One last thing.
I forgot to mention it.
This in the middle of all of that is my old S120.
This is what I started vlogging on a year and a half ago.
This is the only equipment I had when I started travel vlogging.
It doesn't even work anymore so if I turn it on, that's what happens and then it's lens
error.
I just kept it because it was what I started out with and it still filmed okay video.
It's still good enough to put up onto YouTube but that's all I had and it was a couple hundred
dollars two years ago and that's what I started the whole channel on.
All of this I've just picked up on the way as I've tried to get better at vlogging, as
I've tried to step up the quality and reinvest any money I've made.
You do not need all of this to be able to make a video and put it on YouTube.
You don't even need that camera.
You could probably do it on your phone.
So many people's phones now are easily capable of taking HD video that would still look good
on YouTube.
That's what I started out on.
That's what you could start out on.
All this stuff will make the quality higher but it's not 100% necessary.
That being said, I am really happy I have all of that now and I can't wait to get some
more shots of cool places with the drone, with the ATD and I'm just really excited about
some of the content that I'm going to get to create with all of this for you.
A few of you requested this video so I just wanted to make it quickly.
I probably ended up talking quite a lot but I wanted to make the video anyway and yeah,
that's it.
That's all of the stuff I'm using.
I'm going to include all of the links to all of that gear in the description below.
If you're interested, have a look and you can find out more information about each.
But for now, I'll just say that I'm really excited about the future, really excited to
test out the ATD once I get it charged.
And for now, thank you for watching and this is my life.
Wait, the last thing I have which I can tell you about during this little outro scene where
you can subscribe or click on this video.
I also have my passport which is completely full which means I need to renew my passport.
I'm going to be going to London tomorrow to do that.
I'll film it, let you know about it.
Check back then.
Thank you for watching.
This is my life.
