Most Beautiful Hindu Temple In The World? // Episode 199
I only had one day in Yogyakarta unfortunately but still had the chance to explore Karaton (Princes Palace) and get to Prambanan temple - which is apparently the tallest and most beautiful Hindu temple in the world! While it was beautiful... I'm not sure how you can judge which is 'the most' beautiful. Great day nonetheless! And sorry about the microphone problems...

You just get hit?
Yeah, right on my side.
Are you alright?
Yeah, it's just a bruise.
It's getting fast.
Yeah, pretty fast.
Good morning and welcome to Jogja, Jogja Karta.
I'm here, guess what, I just met my sister this morning.
Hello!
And Jacob's here.
And actually Tay's still on the press trip with Wonderful Indonesia.
And we just met her here today in Jogja.
So we're just taking a few photos this morning of these lovely houses.
And then we're going to explore Jogja today.
You just get hit?
Yeah, right on my side.
Are you alright?
Yeah, it's just a bruise.
It's getting fast.
Yeah, pretty fast.
It's okay.
That's not going to help it.
Yeah, it's okay.
All good?
Yeah, it's okay.
Yeah, it's fine.
Thank you.
Okay.
If it was hurt.
Yeah.
So Tay was just crossing the road and got hit a little bit by a bike.
It was full on hit by a bike.
Was it?
Yeah, it hit me like, went straight into the other side.
Oh no.
But yeah, the guys just started checking if she's okay by pulling her arm really hard.
And if you weren't hurt before, you might be now.
Well that's the first time I've been hit by anything, a moving vehicle, so that's a first.
Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Have an amazing time.
Wherever other part of the world we end up in.
Yeah.
Bye bye.
Take care.
Enjoy.
And that is the press trip for Wonderful Indonesia.
You can go and search all of their stuff on hashtag trip of wonders, and that's what my
sister's working with as well.
It was a good chance this morning just to catch up with her quickly, and then she's got another
week for Indonesia.
Whereas I'm leaving tomorrow.
This is going to be the last day in Indonesia.
Well, no, the penultimate day.
Tomorrow is the last day in Indonesia.
I'm so sorry that you've got to spend it with me, man.
That's quite all right.
Can't have it perfect.
But yeah, I also just managed to upgrade my microphone.
Tay had a new video mic go, and mine was broken.
I don't know if you've heard in the last couple of videos, but there's been a lot of
wind, and some of it's been inaudible.
So I just exchanged it with her.
Yeah.
Wow.
Can we trip?
Look at that.
Courtesy of Tay's travels.
Yeah.
There you go.
Nice.
Follow me on Instagram.
Right now, we're heading to Keraton in Jogja, which is the princess palace, I think.
Give you more information in a minute.
Well, this is Keraton, the princess palace in Jogja.
And one thing I can't really get across right now is how hot it is.
It's only 9.30 in the morning, and it is swelteringly hot.
I don't want to get burnt again.
Actually, this is Keraton.
We went to the wrong place to start with, because it looks like the front of it should
be it, but it's not.
We're here at this time because there's a gamelan show to see, which is...
Gamelan.
Yeah.
Show to see, which is like traditional music of Indonesia.
So we're going to go watch that now.
So Jacob is a musician.
What did you think of your first gamelan show?
Very interesting.
Yeah, it was good.
I learned a lot.
There you have it.
Yeah, me too.
Selfie.
That's good.
Thanks.
Is it good?
You're welcome, man.
Right, we just got out of Keraton.
No, we're still in Keraton, the princess palace, but we've come to the cafe here.
And look what I got.
This looks like beer.
It's not beer.
Well, it's called Javanese beer, and it's made with secang wood, lime, turmeric, cloves,
ginger, and then it just says et cetera on the menu.
So, lots of other stuff that combines to make this some sort of detoxy drink.
Let's try it.
It's nice.
It does taste a bit like an ale as well.
It's good, though.
Refreshing.
And a bit spicy.
We've got a couple of salads as well, to be healthy.
It's kind of like gado gado fruit.
We've got a white English pale-skinned guy here, and a white English ginger pale-skinned guy here.
Neither of us are built to fight the heat.
We're hugging the shade where we can, but it is really hot today.
I do not want to get burnt again.
Water, water, water, water, water, water, water.
Because we're white, and we're hot.
We've just jumped into the bus station because we're going to head to Prambanan,
one of the temples and one of the main things to see here.
You can get a tour there as well, but we've decided to go on a bit more of an adventure
and jump on the bus.
I don't know if it'll be more of an adventure or more of an inconvenience, but let's find out.
One, one, one, one.
One?
Yeah.
45 minutes later, we've arrived near to Prambanan.
That way.
As with any more touristy place like this, as soon as we got off the bus,
there were people offering us taxis and ojeks to get to here.
Told us it was two kilometres, but five minute walk, and we're here.
So sometimes it pays to have a quick search beforehand.
Or use Google Maps, or maps.me, I guess.
So we're inside Prambanan now.
We just paid for our entry, which by the way, foreigner price was 225,000.
Domestic is 30,000.
Yeah.
But anyway, we're inside Prambanan right now,
and once you're here, you're gonna pay it either way, I think.
But seems like quite a lot.
And now we're gonna go and explore around the complex.
So this is Prambanan Temple.
It's a Hindu temple that was built in the 9th century AD,
and the pamphlet also just told me
that it's the tallest and most beautiful Hindu temple in the world.
So let's go and have a look inside.
I think the beautiful part is pretty subjective, but it looks good.
I'm gonna try and show you around.
Okay, firstly I'm gonna say it is nice here.
The temples are beautiful.
But look at the amount of people.
I think I might have come at the wrong time.
We came in the afternoon, about three-ish,
and it's just people everywhere.
I was trying to get a good photo,
and it's proving near to impossible because of the amount of people here.
But still worth seeing, I think.
Well, that's it for here, because it's just about to start raining.
But well worth seeing.
I think come at a time when there's less people,
maybe earlier in the morning, but still well worth seeing.
This is one of two temples to see in Jogja, Prambanan and Borobudur.
But I won't be going to Borobudur, and I'll tell you why later.
Borobudur
Which unfortunately means that I won't be able to do
any of the other stuff here that you can do in Jogja,
like Borobudur, which is one of the most iconic places in Java.
Look it up, it's amazing sunrise there, and I have done it before.
I went there a year and a half ago, so I'm not really missing out on it.
I'm glad that I got the chance to come to Jogja and show you guys a little bit,
but I have been here before, just before I started this channel.
There's also lots of other stuff you could do here in Jogja
that I'm not going to have the chance,
because I need to leave tomorrow.
I'm flying in the morning, and if you want to find out why,
then you'll have to watch tomorrow's video.
Because right now, I'm just going to say again,
thank you for watching, and this is my life.
