Let's roll in the Bronx.
We are underway at Yankee
Stadium.
Ward sticks one toward the
right field corner long run for
Aaron judge that is going to be
a fair ball as it one hops the
fence in right field.
Ward digs for second and makes
it with a lead off double really
like seeing that swing there for
Taylor Ward has been kind of in
that pull mode of late has been
off it as far as his timing at
the plate that's a good late
swing on that trying to drive it
the other way in this ballpark.
It's always a good thing as a
right handed batter to let the
baseball get a little bit
deeper to get that carry to
right field.
Interesting that with Shohei
taking the field before the game
today taking batting practice on
the field here at Yankee
Stadium.
There's a lot of media here
following Shohei and he gave
them a little rub today by going
out on the field pregame.
Oh Tony Rips one toward the gap
in right center.
This one is deep and this one is
gone.
So hey Tony puts on the show in
the Bronx.
It's a two run homer in the top
of the first and it's Ohtani who
strikes first in this series at
Yankee Stadium one to sixteen
point seven miles per hour exit
velocity gets out seventh home
run in two plus years for
Shohei Ohtani gets the Yankees
and wow you talk about a crush
Cotter right center and that's
out in a hurry Rizzo off to a
great start for homers nine
Rivi's OPS approaching one
fly ball left field and the
third base hit Ward can't make
the play that's going to go into
the corner Rizzo's been around
second.
He's thinking about third but
Ward recovers gets it in.
It's a two on double for Rizzo.
That's a problem when you dive
as a corner outfielder.
There's nobody to help you if it
gets by.
And this is just one of those
Dunker hits kind of slaps it the
other way.
Ward not able to get to it and
made his mind up.
He was going to go for it once
it's by you.
Very lucky that it hit the side
wall there kept Rizzo from going
to third up your first at bat of
the year just being called up
again for as a base is loaded to
out no pressure line drive left
side Neto with a backhand throws
to third and out at third is
Rizzo.
We have a he is one of a kind.
I mean there's something that
you just don't see is phenomenal
whether or not enough words.
I don't know.
Got eight home runs and 18 games
against the Yankees and oh yeah
he pitches to here's the payoff
swing and a miss Ohtani down on
strikes.
So in the end we have three
down to nothing.
Angels Mike Trout will lead off
the fourth inning Trout single
through the left side of the
infield in the first.
Mike Trout's got a base hit down
the left field line.
That was another rocketed ball
hundred eight point five and
under seven Trout family happy.
So he's at second that'll bring
up Rendon Rendon.
He's going to line drive base
hit to right.
Judge has a good arm.
Trout's being waved to him
anyway.
Judge's throw is on the way.
It's up the line Trout safe and
the Angels take a three nothing
lead on a base hit by Anthony
Rendon.
Bill Hasselman taking that shot
against Aaron Judge who has 40
career outfielder says thirty
five from right field Aaron
Judge.
He got behind it and the throw
you see a trout it's up to third
baseline and drop this turn on
the afterburners.
He's so good as far as cutting
the angle of the bag and that
straight line towards home plate
and it turns it on slides in
third run of the game.
So Hunter Renfroe down the line
another base hit a fair ball for
Renfroe Rendon's on his way to
third left fielder Hicks Dixon
out of the corner.
They're going to challenge Hicks
as well.
Rendon heads home.
He's safe throw gets away behind
home plate Renfroe's at third.
The Angels have a four to
nothing lead another RBI for
Renfroe is 16th and Bill
Hasselman waving his arms around
as both Trout and Rendon score
on back to back.
Yeah he's feeling pretty good.
The Renfroes single double and
taking a shot and Rendon even
though he's not the fastest
runner on the team he's a really
really good base runner that
reputation even when he's with
the Washington Nationals.
Everyone told me he's a great
base runner.
New York's got the bases loaded
and Andrew Wentz inherits a top
spot with Anthony Volpe the young
shortstop do up three to a
walk to a force in a run.
Yankees are on the board it's
four one Angels.
So here's judge he's open to so
far tonight crowd definitely
back into this game for one
Angel over the fourth makes the
play two runners tag for Hicks
scoring is Higashioka.
So it's an RBI a sack fly for
judges for two angels.
Tell you what obviously it's a
hit or you're happy to get a run
in.
And Aaron just missed this ball.
I mean let head there.
Everything just did not quite
square it up.
It did get the job done for his
ninth RBI of the year.
First batter up for the Angels
will be Shohei Ohtani.
Now it's catches interference
again.
That's showing it called it out
right away.
How many times have we seen that
over the last four or five days.
It's incredible.
Here's Rendon RBI base hitting a
run scored in the fourth runner
goes throw to second and a
skips in the center field.
Ohtani takes off for third.
He'll make it there easily.
It's another stolen base allowed
by the Yankees now 13 out of 13.
And for Shohei it's his first
stolen base this year.
Rendon it's a high drive left
center field on the run.
Connor Falefa has a play.
He makes the catch.
But Shohei Ohtani will score and
another good at bat in an RBI
spot for Anthony Rendon.
It's his ninth run batted in as
the Angels lead five to Jose
Quijada.
We'll try to close this out.
Six games has not allowed a run
two for two and saves.
So here's Hicks he's over one
with two walks strike three
Hicks down looking two way.
And that'll bring up Anthony
Volpe Volpe strikes out
swinging say good night to the
Yankees.
The Angels win the opener here at
the Yankee Stadium.
Jose Quijada works a one two
three bottom of the ninth.
The Angels bullpen was superb
and game one of this series
belongs to the Halos in a five
to win over the Yankees all
started with a two run rocket
out of the ballpark for Shohei
Ohtani mentioned a bullpen was
outstanding Anthony Rendon
clutch Hunter Renfro solid and
clutch and Mike Trout big game
but always good to win this
first game of a three game set
here in New York.
