Salvador Vidal i Dura
(Cervera, 19 February 1818 - Cervera, 12 September 1883)
Was a catalan ecclesiastical, organist and composer. He started his musical studies in Cervera with Cristòfol Farré and Cristòfol Montiu in theory and with Fr. Jose in organ. At the age of 17 he was appointed organist and chapel teacher in Sallent but shortly after he moved to Huesca. From there he travelled to Rome some years later. In 1843, and already officially consecrated, he returned to Cervera where he assumed an assistant post of the organist Joan Pont, a violinist, with whom he closely collaborated in the preparation of the famous 'Maitines del Santíssim Misteri de Cervera'. Also there he worked as assistant of the chapel master Cristòfol Farré. In 1851 he replaced Joan Pont as organist, and in 1862 he also replaced Cristòfol Farré as a chapel master. Since then, he spent thirty years of musical career in Cervera, where he wrote dozens of works, most of them religious. Salvador Vidal i Dura died in Cervera in September 1883.

Joan Pont i Cos
(Cervera, 21 November 1813 - Igualada, 4 October 1885)
Was a catalan organist and chapel master. He received his first music lessons from Cristòfol Ferré, an excellent violinist and chapel teacher in the parish of Cervera, and Cristòfol Montiu. He also sang as a choir of the Cervera chapel and, at the age of 9, due his tiple voice, he was promoted to sing in the choir of the New Cathedral in Lleida. There he also studied organ, and at the age of 19 he assumed an organist post in the church of Santa Coloma de Queralt. He also worked for a short period in Olesa de Montserrat (Barcelona), before returning to his hometown to assume a chapel master post of Santa Maria in 1836, replacing his old teacher Cristòfol Farré. In 1837 he assumed the organist post of the Cerverina church, post he held until 1851. This year he travelled to Igualada, city where he assumed an organist and chapel master post in the Basilica of Santa Maria and where he remained until his death in 1885. #ClassicalMusic
