FAQ:
What equipment do you use? I have a Canon 700D, a Canon Powershot S120 and a GoPro Hero 3+ Black. I edit on my Acer 8GB RAM laptop.
How did you learn to edit? Mainly I taught myself. I downloaded Premiere Pro and began to figure out how to use it through trial and error. Eventually, and with the help of many tutorials, you start to figure out what works.
What work are you doing? Right now I am running my video blog while doing freelance web design to supplement my travelling.
How do you meet the people in your videos? Hostels, guesthouses and conversations! You meet people so easily while travelling. Just open yourself up and you will meet all sorts of amazing people.
Any more questions, please post in the comments below!
We've just arrived to the border town of Nong Khai, we need to go across the border now
to Lao.
So we're going to find out how to do that.
So we've just got a train ticket to cross the border and now we need to go through immigration on the Thai side
then jump on the train and then go through immigration on the Lao side, I think.
Right, just filling out our forms now for a visa on arrival to Lao.
So we do have a problem, there's a bit of a concern.
You have to pay for the visa arrival in cash, we haven't bought enough cash and there's no ATMs.
So I'm not quite sure what we're going to do at the moment.
At the moment we can't pay for the visa.
Okay, we were just struggling then, we weren't going to be allowed through because we don't take card.
So we had to jump on the train and go back and get money out.
So these lovely gentlemen just lent us the money.
Yeah, thank you so much guys, honestly.
And now we're going to go on the bus to Vientiane and then get money out and pay it back.
Yeah, bye, thank you so much.
Bye, take care, good trip.
Well thank God for those three guys from India.
We were in a bit of a pickle at the border.
They overheard us, we would have had to turn around and go back to Thailand
because we didn't have money for the visa.
But they paid for our visa and I've just got money out now and paid them back.
And now we're here in Laos, in Vientiane.
So now we're going to spend one day and one night here.
So we need to find a room.
So we just checked into a room and had a quick change of clothes, shovel bags down.
But now we've come straight out because we are starving, haven't had any food yet.
Quick FYI, that room was 140,000 kip, which is 70,000 each.
And that's just about £6.
It's 12,000 kip to the pound and I just got out 1.5 million kip.
So I'm a millionaire.
But now I'm going to go blow it all on a sandwich somewhere.
What do you think Kai? How hungry are you?
Nice traditional Laos breakfast.
No.
Well, just had a nice traditional Laos English breakfast.
And we're actually in the centre of the capital of Laos right now.
And it's so empty.
All the streets are really chilled.
Everyone is really chilled.
I am really tired.
I'm not sure exactly what the plan is yet.
We're going to pop back to the hostel first and figure out what we're doing with the day.
So I always see a lot of travel bloggers show me their luxury accommodation.
And this is ours.
Twin beds.
A TV.
A fan.
Oh, we have a fan and AC. That's actually pretty luxury.
And flowers.
Right.
So while I have a spare bit of time,
I want to show you something that I've wanted to show you for the last couple of months
and haven't been able to yet.
If any of you are familiar with Casey Neistat's vlogs,
then he does a segment called Mail Time
where he gets sent things from random companies and he shows it to the camera.
Well, a couple of months ago I was emailed by a company from China
saying they wanted to send me some things that I could use on my venture.
So they did.
But they sent it to my home address in the UK.
So this is a bit of an impossible mail time.
This stuff has been sent from China back to England.
It was then taken from England by Kai,
put into his bag, flown back to Bangkok.
It's now crossed the border into Laos
and just before I go back to China,
now I can show you what they sent me.
So first of all,
a Bluetooth travel speaker,
which I've already used.
And it was really useful.
I've actually been wanting one for a while,
but I knew I had one coming.
So Bluetooth, thank you for that.
A selfie stick.
I shouldn't go travelling without a selfie stick.
Apparently.
What's this?
Oh, a power bank.
To charge my phone and charge my stuff on the go.
Another battery to charge my stuff on the go.
And a third power bank.
And it turns out this isn't just a power bank.
It's an all-weather power bank with a tough body
with a reliable ingress protection rating of IP67.
Cool, this is actually really handy as well.
It's like an all-weather power bank.
That's pretty good.
So who sent me this?
This was all from...
Let me adjust the focus.
There you go.
Easiac.
Come on, Canon.
Okay, finally in focus.
So yeah, thank you for that.
Thank you, Easiac.
Still going to make my life a bit easier.
And there you go.
That's it.
My impossible mail time.
Cool, well, a bit of a plan for the day.
We just got ATP to rent a bicycle for the day.
So we just grabbed one.
I'm going to explore around Vietnam.
Cycling down the street in Laos.
Nice.
The Mekong.
Ah, yeah.
We've been biking for a bit.
These sandwiches are amazing.
Lao baguettes.
There we go.
Oh, Lao baguette.
I don't understand what this shop's selling.
So we've ended up spending most of the day in the hostel
planning what we're going to be doing in China video-wise
and also editing what we've done so far in Bangkok.
But now we've come out of the hostel.
It's about 7, and we're going to go to the night market
and grab some food.
Check it out.
Any sunglasses you want for 15,000,
which is about £1.25.
All right, good try.
Check this out.
A whole squid on a stick.
How much are these?
How much is one?
10,000.
How is it? How's your cuttlefish?
Really tasty.
Nice.
Yeah, it's good.
It's like a harder calamari.
And spicy.
Okay, so just enjoyed a cuttlefish.
Pretty sure that's the first time I've had cuttlefish like that.
Anyway, I'm sure.
But there's not that much food here in the night market.
There's nowhere to sit,
so we're going to head somewhere else and grab some dinner.
Well, that's it for today.
Nice dinner, but now really tired,
and we have to be up early anyway
because we're moving on straight away.
It's just one night here,
and then we're moving again in the morning.
So check back for that.
But for now, welcome to Laos,
and thanks for watching,
and this is my life.
