It is time for the action, which will be started by Nottingham Forest in yellow and blue today.
The reverse fixture belonged to Nottingham Forest, thanks to Te Uwu Owenyi's unanswered goal at the city ground.
But 25 trips to Anfield have come and gone without success for Forest,
since they celebrated a 2-0 top flight victory here in February 1969.
Lost 18 of those 25 encounters.
Today, many expect it to be another tough one, but you never know.
It's only a tough start for their number nine.
That was an awkward fall for Owenyi.
It looked like he just slipped and then over-extended his knee a little tiny bit.
So that'll be one to keep our eye on, but this is a dangerous position so early on in the game.
It's all about putting the right quality in the box now for Nottingham Forest.
Penty trying to break free in the middle.
It's rescued somewhat by Philippe.
But on one side, to Robertson on the other.
Fancy fighting for it, Van Dijk was closest, Fabinho couldn't quite find the angle to throw the boot at it.
Super ball to pick out Robertson, it was Alexander-Arnold who found his fellow full-back.
Nottingham Forest were in trouble for a moment there.
Oh, it's just drilled like a two iron, wasn't it? Perfect head height, making sure that it gives Robertson a chance.
Van Dijk is there!
And so is Kylian Navas, flying through his hair to deny Liverpool the opener.
We know the quality of Trent Alexander-Arnold,
and Scott McKenna gets the wrong side of Virgil van Dijk,
he can see the number 4 on his back, which means he's out of position.
Van Dijk gets his header, but credit to Navas,
we said he'd have to be at his best today,
and that's the first save of note from him, and it's a great save.
In for Liverpool once again, and somehow it found its way all the way across.
And they'll go again from the other side.
There's a real battle at the front between, I think it's Loddy and Diogo Jota,
the tussling between them, the grappling each other,
and it just flicks off the foot of Aguanyi out for another corner for Liverpool.
Ten minutes to the break, comes from Robertson, Van Dijk up there,
there was a hand up there as well, Henderson moves it on, Salah tries to bend it,
it wouldn't dip enough to turn into a meaningful shot,
and it didn't quite find anyone else in the middle either.
Van Dijk wins the initial header, there will be a VAR check on this,
just to see what the hand position is of Diakate, who goes up with Van Dijk.
Not sure whether Mohamed Salah's looking for the back post or not,
I think he's looking for his team-mate,
and this is the one they're looking at with Diakate.
It was a mixture, wasn't it?
It's very difficult, isn't it?
Looks like it hits his back and then onto his arm.
Trent Alexander-Arnold over this again.
Best opportunities for Liverpool have come from set-pieces.
You feel that with him stood over the ball,
he can put it in the right areas,
you've got the players big enough to go and attack it.
And from Alexander-Arnold, Jota's there!
Wrong side of the net from his point of view,
as Nottingham Forest players and fans held their breath.
It's a corner which will be taken by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Jovan Dijk in the mix.
Liverpool the lead, their persistence pays off,
it's a brilliant start to the second half,
and the goals are flowing again for Diogo Jota.
How often do we say in the first half that a set-piece
from Liverpool could cause Nottingham Forest problems,
and it has very early in the second half,
and it comes from the quality of Trent Alexander-Arnold again,
it's such a delightful ball, it allows,
or it causes problems at the back for Nottingham Forest,
it pushes onto the chest of Neokate,
and then Fabinho answers with a header across goal,
and a simple header for Diogo Jota,
but just look at him, he's on his toes,
he's always allowed to the situation,
and he gets in front of the defender, Lodi,
who is on his heels, he doesn't sense the danger,
and he just gets in front of him.
Three goals in two games from Diogo Jota answers the critics.
Gone so long without a goal, 32 games indeed,
and then three in the space of two outings,
start of the second half.
Karte, down for Gibbs-White, who looks for the swift response from Nottingham Forest.
They almost answer back immediately with their own set-piece, Nottingham Forest.
Dyke not convincing with the header, under pressure from Nia Karte.
What a strike from Gibbs-White, been low in confidence in the last couple of weeks,
hasn't really affected games but caught that one beautifully.
Both would clearly be desperate to get involved.
Gibbs-White, Nico Williams, deflection!
And the scrap for survival takes another twist,
as Nottingham Forest fields.
And it's the former Liverpool youngster who fires it home.
Nico Williams makes a point not to celebrate, but drags his side level.
They might not need Jesse Lingard and Brendan Johnson,
because straight away they're back in the game.
It comes from a simple throw-in down the side,
it's inside and Liverpool find themselves outnumbered.
Andrew Robertson, he just can't quite get across,
it's a nick off him, it wrong-foots Alisson.
It's not the greatest of strikes by Nico Williams,
but that probably helps it, and it wrong-foots Alisson.
Finds its way into the top corner via a deflection.
We've got a game on our hands now.
Wouldn't you just know it, grew up at the club, has come back to Anfield with a bang.
Waddington Forest have come here with expectation having lost their last three games, no win in 10, only one point in their last six.
Dotta with lots of space.
Where did the Nottingham Forest defence go to?
They were waiting for a flag that never came,
and Diogo Jota just helped himself.
Well, my initial thought straight away was he's onside
because it's a disjointed line from Nottingham Forest.
Some dropped, some held.
Diogo Jota just held his calm, and it's a brilliant finish.
He's well onside.
De Bley just left to his own devices in the box,
takes it down, really in chest control.
And then it's about can you compose yourself?
Takes it on the knee and then finds that bottom corner.
Just the turn of fortunes for him in confidence,
it's just staggering, but it's there for all to see.
Quality never leaves him, he's a poacher,
and he's got quality when he gets time and space.
And Nottingham Forest have it all to do again.
Konate, stepping out neatly, looking for Jota, who goes for it!
Navas denies him a hat-trick.
That's all we've seen speaking about for the game,
Konate stepping out into that area, and what a delightful pass it is.
Jota, his eyes on the ball the whole way,
he'll know that Navas would be coming off his line fractionally,
tries to loop it over his head, but credit to Navas,
he's aware of the situation, just retreats and manages to push it over his bar.
Brennan Johnson still waits on the touchline.
in the Acate, keeps Reutel, hits it!
Attingen Forest!
Deep in trouble, doing everything to find a way.
He kept his eye on it, he drilled in it.
Three quarters of the game gone, Forrest a level.
We knew they'd want to set it up, and they set it up well.
They said it won't be about the first ball,
it'd be about the second ball, keeping it alive.
And that's exactly what Nottingham Forrest do.
As it comes in, Virgil van Dijk, he deals with the first one,
but it's not this one that matters, it's this.
It's the ball from Morgan Gibbs-White.
The strike is just perfect, catches it,
slight deflection off Canate, who hangs a leg out.
Then off Trent Alexander-Arnold, that beats Alisson in the bottom corner.
I have to say, that's far too easy from a Liverpool point of view
to concede a goal, or two goals from throw-ins now.
Plenty of dangerous-looking set plays in the first half,
we just didn't get any goals from them.
From Alexander-Arnold!
And Mo Salah continues to take his place alongside some Liverpool greats.
It's a strike that draws him level 6th in the all-time scoring charts for the club with Robbie Fowler.
And it edges the Reds ahead against Forest again.
It's quite incredible, isn't it? Liverpool scoring off set-pieces.
I'm sure it'll go to VAR, they will look to see whether he's onside or not, as every goal does.
But the ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold, he looks onside at the back post, he's being held,
it doesn't matter, he's clinical Mohamed Salah, he's strong, he wants it more,
he gets in points at Freuler, and this game in the space of two minutes has changed again.
Well, he fired that one home as the debate goes on as to whether he was on or offside.
The check continues.
Nottingham Forest convinced that they should have a free kick here.
Yeah, well, they're looking at offside and it's Niyokate in the middle,
who's with Kanate and it's his foot that's playing.
Mohamed Salah on, early onside Mohamed Salah.
Goal is given.
I'm going to say it again, not again.
Here comes Kante's throw, looking to cause more chaos in the Liverpool box.
On from Gibbs-White.
From Worrell, off!
Almost very special from Aouni.
What a moment that could have been for Nottingham Forest.
It's incredible.
The sense around the stadium was this was going to be dangerous.
You could feel the Liverpool fans knowing that they're not comfortable
from these throw-ins and lovely technique from Aguanyi.
He's just a fraction of putting it in under the crossbar,
but it's such a dangerous weapon for Nottingham Forest.
Forest for now have everyone back, then they'll look to try and get forward.
In from Robertson, Nunez to the header.
We're a few in the middle who may have got in each other's way.
Oh, should he do better?
Darwin Nunez, he loses his man, just gets a slight glance on it.
I think he should. I think he should be hitting the target at least.
Pushed away by Robertson.
In from Johnson it goes, the header from Mangala.
Easy pickings for Alisson.
That's positive from Nottingham Forest, isn't it?
Just not even looking where they're putting it,
just put it into an area, get men in the box, go and attack it.
Karnate stands off Mangala, free header,
always difficult from that range really to get.
Alexander-Arnold, given away.
There are plenty in yellow and blue looking to break,
including Gibbs-White, and Johnson as well.
Van Dijk stepping in, Mangala takes on the strike,
and it wouldn't spin enough for him.
He chooses the wrong option, Mangala.
Liverpool are living very, very dangerously here.
Poor pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold,
and Gibbs-White almost slotting it through to Brennan Johnson.
Van Dijk dealt with that situation,
but they've got five attacking players on the pitch now,
Nottingham Forest.
They're being brave, they're going after Liverpool,
they're trying to get that point that they think they can get.
still could be a twist in this game. Four minutes of the added time to play.
Down goes Henderson.
Darwin skipping away here, going for the cheeky chip.
He wasn't too far away in the end.
I think it's a cross.
I just think he gets it wrong.
Danilo slips, it allows him to go forward.
You see him there, just having a little look at Diaz and Salah at the back post
and tries to dink it towards the back.
Miss hits it.
You can see from his face, he knows it's the wrong ball.
In from Gibbs White, helped on by Worrell and Johnson's there, but up and over it goes.
I wonder what type of ball Morgan Gibbs-White would try and put into the area.
He just mishits it ever so slightly but Joe Worrell does so well at the front post to
adjust his feet, get a little glance on it with his head.
from Robertson offside against Henderson.
Not game over yet, although the maturity
perhaps inside Anfield think that's game over.
Tamar trying to make their way back to their seats.
the added five minutes.
And we will play no more.
Liverpool continue their climb up the table
as Nottingham Forest's relegation concerns deepen.
So near and yet so far for Forest
in terms of taking something away from Anfield.
They went toe to toe with Liverpool all the way to the end,
but ultimately without reward.
While they still have every chance
of surviving in the Premier League,
they'll be frustrated in some way
to not take anything away
from a really good encounter between these two sides.
