FAQ:
What equipment do you use? I have a Canon 700D, a Canon Powershot S120 and a GoPro Hero 3+ Black. I edit on my Acer 8GB RAM laptop.
How did you learn to edit? Mainly I taught myself. I downloaded Premiere Pro and began to figure out how to use it through trial and error. Eventually, and with the help of many tutorials, you start to figure out what works.
What work are you doing? Right now I am running my video blog while doing freelance web design to supplement my travelling.
How do you meet the people in your videos? Hostels, guesthouses and conversations! You meet people so easily while travelling. Just open yourself up and you will meet all sorts of amazing people.
Any more questions, please post in the comments below!
Good morning. So, right, I'm back in Ubud. My friends left yesterday and I came up this
morning and now I'm back here. So, what's next? I said before that I am going to start
doing daily vlogging again, which I am, so this is the beginning of that. But, it's been
so hectic for the last month. So, it's been great that my friends have been out here,
but for the last month we've been all over the place and, I don't know, doing far too
much and spending far too much. So, one of the main questions I get is how can you afford
travelling? People see these videos but they don't understand the finances. So, what I'm
going to do, while I'm daily vlogging this for the next month, is I'm going to be spending
minimal amount. I'm going to be showing you how possible it is to do it on a budget. So,
I'm going to be spending a maximum of £10 a day. I'm not sure exactly what that is in
dollars, but that will pop up on the screen now. And that's all I'm going to spend and
that's all I'm going to be doing. So, yeah, big task ahead. But I don't think it will
be that bad. £10 a day in places like this is more than affordable and I'm going to show
you how. Right, I'm also going to be slowing down quite a bit. I've been moving around
a lot for the last couple of months and now I'm going to have to slow down maybe for the
next month or so in Bali and in Ubud, where I am now. Not just to save money but also
because I can't keep up with the pace I've been doing. I'm going to stop here and focus
a bit, do a bit more work, do some more videos and just enjoy living here for a bit. So,
why choose Ubud? It's beautiful. I mean, look at this. This is where I'm staying for £3.50
a night. So, right, the way I see it when you're travelling, there are three main things
that you have to pay for. Accommodation, food and water and transport. So, if you can minimise
any three of them then you can save money. What you need to do really is you need to
sleep, you need to eat and you need to move. So, right now I am planning to stay here in
Ubud. So, get rid of that one. That leaves eating and that leaves sleeping. So, I've
already said staying here for a night is £3.50 and this is where I'm going to stay for a
little bit at least. So, £3.50, that leaves £6.50 left for the rest of the day for eating
and water, which in places like this is plenty. I'll show you what I'm eating. I like that
place. Anyway, I went there. It's not actually the cheapest place but I went there because
it's good food and it's still good value and free wifi. It's a nice atmosphere. So, for
that was £24,000, which is just about £2.20. Right, onwards. One thing I forgot to mention
earlier is that I also rented a motorbike. So, I guess that's the move part. That was
£40,000 a day, so an extra £2 to add on top. So, I've just been for a bit of a nice
dip in the pool here and I was planning to go out and explore but it's just about to
start raining so I can't now. I'll do that another day here and I'll show you around
the rice terraces in Ubud. But okay, so, today I've spent £3.50 on the broom, including
breakfast, £1.20 on lunch and £2 on the bike. And for petrol for the bike, it's about
£20,000, which is £1 and that'll last me a few days. So, let's say I've spent around
£7 today. That's about 75%, 70% of my budget and I haven't really done anything. So, as
you can imagine, with that budget there won't be much room for added extras and luxuries,
which isn't a bad thing. It means I won't be out to drink, which is a good thing. I'm
going on a bit of a detox this month anyway, so that's fine. But I still want to live quite
comfortably. That's why I decided to eat in a nice restaurant today and why I'm living
in quite a nice place. And that's what I will show you as well, how easy it is to live on
a budget and still live reasonably comfortably. It's also not just going to be a case of I
can only spend under £10 every day. I'm going to make it balance out over the next
30 days. So, let's say there's one day where I spend £5, that'll mean the next day I'll
be able to spend £15 and vice versa. Just to make sure it balances out over the month
to be under £10 or under $15 a day. Now, I do want to say that the next bunch of videos
isn't just going to be me saying how much everything costs and saying that I'm keeping
to a budget of under £10. I'm going to be doing that anyway and maybe a few times I'll
come back to it. But I'm still going to be going out, exploring and having fun and trying
to make a bit of money as well. So, that's what I have to do this month. I'm going to
be able to travel the world continuously. I need to stop for a bit and make some money
as well. So, I'm going to show you how I'm doing that. But, right, I think I've spoken
enough for today. Quite a wordy vlog. I've been talking a lot at the camera today. So,
I'm going to leave it there. Thanks for watching and this is my life.
