Sonny Gray on the mound for the
Twins Gray pitched a year and a
half roughly for the Yankees
toward the end of his time was
sent to the bullpen wasn't even
in the Yankees starting
rotation he's got a little chip
on his shoulder why wouldn't he
you see the numbers for Volpe
had his 10 game on base streak
snapped yesterday there's a
called third strike that's how
you come back from three you
know real good late movement on
his fastball judge scuffling a
bit since the Twins left New
York towering pop up right side
Polanco with Kepler in the
vicinity to a result Yankees
hottest hitter but he's been
stymied by Sonny Gray just one
for eleven how's that from
coming back from three and all
the opening of bat you strike
the guy out get a quick pop up
for out two and then strikeout
Rizzo to end the inning they
will face Johnny Brito I love
his stuff and his command the
heat everything comes off the
fastball must command the
strike zone with that fastball
and then you can throw that
Bucs Bunny that nasty changeup
Max Kepler Carlos Correa Jorge
Polanco to start this one lifted
to left and it'll carry the
Cabrera for the first out here
is Correa with one man out.
Backhanded pick up by LeMahieu
and he throws him out to down
and that'll bring up Jorge
Polanco.
And a much different first inning
tonight one two three go the
twins on 10 pitches from Johnny
Brito no scores we had to the
second Torres leading off the
second no score four five and
six in the Yankees order rolled
slowly going to be a tough play
Polanco across the bag not dug
out and Torres is going to reach
on what should be an infield
single.
So Torres at first nobody out
now LeMahieu Gray to second and
Correa rifling his throw to
first and that takes care of the
stretch single just off the
plate and a lead off one second
walk from Brito and sure enough
the twins do put the lead off
man out for the first time
tonight.
And here is Michael Taylor up
the middle and through great at
bat for Taylor Vasquez will
check in at second base right
over the rubber right over the
second base bag Kepler at the
plate first and second base hit
right field Vasquez to third
he'll be held and Kepler fills
the bases with a sharp single
right.
Now excuse me Polanco with the
bases loaded and one out into
right field base at Vasquez
scoring Taylor right behind him.
Polanco is clutch once again
great to strike hitting
especially in a situation where
you know the guy's got ninety
six miles an hour back there if
he throws that terrific hit by
Polanco and Kepler scampered to
third now Buxton at the plate.
And Buxton has thrown out he'll
get a run batted in a bullet
back to the glove of the
pitcher Kepler coming in from
third base if Rito had held on
to the line drive they would
have had a double play.
But as it is Buxton is retired
driving in the third run of the
inning and Aaron Boone is going
to turn to the bullpen early and
a short night for Johnny Brito
again against the twins.
Judge had a tough homestand just
five for thirty four fourteen
strikeouts in the homestead
judge.
That's that in the air right
field and deep Kepler back on
the track looking up and it is
off the overhang that will be a
double for Aaron Judge and
probably because of the cold
weather that didn't get out.
That would have been the first
home run that Sonny Gray would
have given up.
He hasn't given up one yet.
This year Torres had an infield
single that is the other Yankee
hit along with the judge double
got him judges one out doubles
left the board and it's still
three to nothing.
Joey Gallo will lead off the
fourth against Weissert.
High and deep to right center
field.
Then what had to feel good for
Joey Gallo home run number six
a no doubter once again from
Joey Gallo.
Not everybody can play in New
York and he was one of them and
he was the first one to admit
it.
So you got to like that.
O'Brien has come in and walked
the first two men that he has
faced now after the second out a
single a couple of walks
Vasquez walked and scored in the
third.
It was his walk that started the
three run third.
Let's leave him full still lead
for nothing.
A Sonny Gray out here and they
top have the sixth inning.
He said he's been shut down the
Yankees.
They've got just three hits.
First walk issued by Sonny
tonight.
It's a two out walk.
And here is Aaron Judge breaking
ball.
Got it.
Both six nearly perfect innings
for Sonny Gray against the
Yankees.
Michael Taylor will lead off the
bottom of the sixth for the
twins.
Slowly hit Taylor can run.
And putting a ball in play and
awarded for it.
Larnach just hit the ball off
the end of his bat last inning
and got an infield hit.
And now it's Taylor's turn.
Polanco drove in two with a
single in the third inning.
Not a left hanging in the air
for Cabrera long run and drop
the ball got there but didn't
catch it.
Kepler will score Polanco to
second base probably a pop fly
double because there was a long
run but Cabrera got there.
And I'm not sure he even got
leather on it.
It'll be Rizzo leading off the
seventh against Sonny Gray who
has faced 20 batters in six
innings.
Three ups.
I'll go to Galloway Torres with
the bases empty.
Got him looking.
Buzz to fastball right on the
edge of the strike zone and
that'll bring up Cordero.
I wouldn't want to be the guy to
get the ball out of Sonny Gray's
hand right now.
This could be his last hitter.
Two strikes two down.
Here's the pitch.
He struck him out swinging once
again a curve ball and Sonny's
night is over and he departs to
a standing ovation here at
Target Field.
Seven strikeouts in seven shut
out for Sonny Gray as he
maintains a sub one ERA Sonny
Gray has pitched twenty nine
innings this year and given up
two runs five nothing twins two
down eighth inning here's Max
he's been on three times he has
scored twice third hit the
sampler has pulled to right
field Correa will back with a
man aboard and two down Correa
hitless couple of strikeouts
Correa drives it to the right
field corner.
Cordero back and he can't make
bird he'll score and Correa is
digging for three and he'll
reach Correa needs something
like this and it is indeed a
triple good for him just what he
needed and it will be the
birthday boy Giovanni Moran
pitching the ninth inning with
the twins up six to nothing.
Oh my you just can't give the
Yankees opportunities like this
two walks in a single.
It is Cabrera the seventh place
hitter grounded a third and
Miranda goes to the bag was
looking all over the place.
Look for a while like you might
want to throw a home and it
looked like you might throw
across the diamond and finally
ended up getting the force at
third base.
Oh and to the count on Hicks
ninth inning two on two out
here's the pitch.
He struck him out swinging and
the twins win the game six to
one denied the shutout but
they'll take the win.
