Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals
on a beautiful Sunday afternoon
at the ravine as the Dodgers go
for the three game series sweep
with Noah Syndergaard on the
mound.
The vibe with him is going to
be find a swing and miss pitch.
Find something to make him with
that getting ahead throwing
strikes.
He does that all the time.
New Bartlett lead off for St.
Louis.
It's ripped to the right side.
Freddie was in perfect position
one out Paul Goldschmidt now and
a one for three Saturday.
The first pitch in the center.
James Altman doesn't have to
move much.
One pitch for the second out the
twenty two year old Nolan
Gorman another three to.
High in the air to right field.
Mookie Betts just in front of a
warning track for a one two
three first for Noah Syndergaard.
Well Brad an interesting match
up today for the Cardinals.
You've got Jake Woodford who's
an interesting case when he gets
the ball on the ground.
He's very effective when he
makes a mistake it gets hit out
of the ballpark and he's facing
the top former hitting team in
the National League today in L.A.
Usually you have a speed demon
like Freddie Freeman leading off
Mookie Best.
It's got that position today.
One to rip to left center that
will get down and one hop the
wall.
We don't double for Mookie Betts
who's a triple away from a
leadoff cycle and chances to
get serious.
Homer on Friday a single on
Saturday and a double today
Freddie Freeman three hits in
the series hitting two ninety
four for Los Angeles.
Here it is.
And Freeman chase that good
pitch after the leadoff double
strikeout ground out sets it up
for Max Munsey.
But to now fly ball right field
pretty well track in the
ballpark will hold it and that
retires the side Wilson
Contreras is one for seven in
the series to homers eleven
driven in for Wilson that ball
is hammered in the left.
Good start first Cardinal hit it
comes with one out Contreras
to support you know Wilson
needed that one.
He jumped on a sinker Alec
Burleson the batter and a check
swing.
That's going to be a thing of
beauty into the left field
corner Contreras around second
on his way to third.
There'll be no throw to second
and the Cardinals on a check
swing are in business.
Finally a break goes their way
second and third one out.
We were showing the graphic
earlier about the hard hit balls
with runners in scoring position
Cardinals have nothing to show
for it.
Sometimes you just kind of stick
the bat out and see what happens
here.
Now you've got to get a run here
Dylan Carlson the batter high
fly ball into left center
Peralta and Altman converge.
It'll be out and catch a running.
There's the catch the tag throw
to the plate is going to be up
the line and the Cardinals score
on a sack fly from Dylan Carlson
it's one nothing.
So Carlson's good series
continues.
That's his fifth RBI on the year
and St. Louis strikes first.
Now Brendan Donovan there's a
line drive in a left center
field that's going to make it to
nothing.
Burleson streaks around third
and scores and the Cardinals get
to get done with two outs six
RBI for Donovan it's to nothing.
But that has been a hallmark of
this club.
They don't give it with two outs
the top two scoring teams in
baseball with two are on the
field right now the Dodgers and
the Cardinals and change up goes
the other way here by Donovan
just stays down on it.
Here's Altman this young man's
off to an impressive start and
he rips out one to the right
side diving play and a throw to
first excellent effort by
Donovan to hold the bag.
How did he catch that.
Wow that saved a run.
That was shades of Goldie over
there by Donovan.
First of all the play by Gorman
is a great one.
He ends up getting stuck there
on the turf but ends up making a
heck of a play.
Man that is such a dangerous
play.
Athletic play second and first
for the Cardinals to get that
first down Jason Heyward did
advance third three to pitch
grounded to short.
Heyward hustles home the
Dodgers get one back.
Now it's Carlson on first base
Brendan Donovan at the plate
ground ball Taylor's there
spins and fires.
It's a nice way to end the
fourth inning.
Keeps it a one run game one more
time or back to back walks for
the Dodgers to start the inning.
Now he's facing someone with
good plate discipline and Miguel
Vargas that's grounded.
Oh great play.
Donovan steps on the bag for
round number one.
If he doesn't get that we've got
big trouble.
Vargas advances the runners but
that diving play by Donovan
who's made two outstanding
efforts at first keeps the
Cardinals in front.
Now second and third one out
David Peralta up bouncing to the
right side.
It's an out for Peralta but a
run for the Dodgers to tie the
game.
James Altman at third Chris
Taylor at the plate.
Taylor reps one fair down the
line into the corner and left
the Dodgers have a three to
lead.
CT with a stand up double with
two out the Cardinals with two
runs and they happened with two
outs.
CT with the Dodgers they have a
lot of two out RBI and he
doesn't miss his opportunity.
The scoreboard's been flipped
here in the fourth.
No Cinder guards now been handed
a three to lead Cardinals and
the nine one and two hitters up
here in the top of the fifth
inning that ball hammered toward
right center field that ball's
got a chance to get down it's
going to it'll bounce off the
fence.
And there's a good start for the
Cardinals Edmond with a lead off
double and St. Louis looks to
tie this game with the top of
the order coming up.
Newt Bars played Pepper with
Freddie Freeman twice and he
grounds that ball to the right
side and throw for a base hit.
Here comes Edmond around third
here comes Betts his throw to
the plate it's going to be late
and back to back hits for the
Redbirds tie this game in the
fifth inning.
Newt got the ground ball it
found a hole.
Tommy Edmond was on the jump as
soon as this ball was hit and
the Cardinals fight right back.
You love it.
Thompson back to work for his
first full inning.
He'll face Smith Muncie and
Hayward and pops this one up
Donovan shielding his eyes long
run back to the infield
Staggers can't make the play
ball drops throw to second is
going to be late.
Donovan tough play trying to
catch it over the shoulder.
Good hustle by Smith the entire
time on that ball as it drops.
And just like that leaping off
an inning with another runner at
second base the blue double and
the lefty lefty matchups turn
into two walks and L.A. has
loaded the bases with nobody out
and now Altman is coming up goes
with a hammer and breaks it down
and on three pitches Altman is
out number one.
That's going to be it for
Thompson as Burr Hagan is ready
but a big strikeout there.
The Dodgers and Cardinals are
tied at three.
How long will the scoreboard
stay that way.
Now it's two to one Vargas look
out bounces for the backstop
Smith trots home L.A. back in
front Peralta with a pair of
groundouts one score to run to
tie the game at two on the
ground right side could be to
no it won't be to David Peralta
uses the right side of the
infield which is the harder way
to turn to get it done fly out
in a double bounce back.
Ninety three.
So if you're wondering why the
crowd is going nuts dad's making
plays nice a beverage a baby and
a baseball that is going
national for against Yamada
hoping that he can kind of
repeat what she did to God
Harris pokes it to right.
That's a one two three eight
inning for Yancey Almonte still
five three L.A. chance for more
when we come back with runners
at second and third they brought
the infield in the count was
three and on they said Freddy
why don't you just take first
base and an open base you can
understand that base is loaded
for L.A. and Will Smith will
goes after the first pitch on a
line and Carlson didn't know to
do it first brings in the out
that Smith brings in a run now
six to three Dodgers now
extended the lead to three Evan
Phillips has the ball in the
ninth inning lost today for St.
Louis would mean a bad kind of
history would match the 1972
Cardinals for the franchise
second worst twenty nine game
start the expansion era so that
goes back to 1961 right to
Freddy steps on first for one
they got to that's a win and a
sweep for L.A. six three the
final defense pitching offense
and while another good day for
the bullpen.
