Chan Chan is an archaeological site located in the Peruvian region of La Libertad,
Five kilometers east of Trujillo.
It was the capital of the Chimú empire.
which reached its peak in the fifteenth century,
little prima di cadere under the domination of the Incas.
The urban planning of this enormous city,
The greatest of pre-Columbian America,
This reflects an elaborate system of social stratification.
Chan Chan constitutes the pre-Hispanic settlement
in the largest mudstone in the Americas,
and it has been reported to the light in all its complexity
After years of intensive archaeological excavations.
What impresses this site is its grandeur.
The articulated organization of its urban space, strictly hierarchical.
The whole city covers an area of almost 20 square kilometres.
While the monumental central area is occupied by Ben Sei.
The city centre is formed by ten walled citadels.
Every citadel, built of dried bricks and covered with mud,
The Commission has not yet adopted a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens.
Cemeteries, gardens, cisterns and other places arranged symmetrically.
It is considered that these functions of the residential quarters,
Burial places and warehouses for the aristocracy there.
All outside of these ten rectangular units,
The south and west are now called the four industrial districts.
The majority of the population, however,
I lived outside the citadel in the most modest quarters.
The ruins of Chan Chan, which rise in one of the driest regions of the world,
They're literally disappearing.
A cause of the action of the wind and the scant atmospheric precipitation.
Because the abandoned and fragile site of Chan Chan
preserves the remains of a complex society and culture
which require constant protection from natural erosion,
It was declared a World Heritage Site in 1986.
It is believed that in the city of Chan Chan live 30,000 people.
The walls of the buildings were built with dry bricks,
And then covered with a uniform layer of cement
Decorated with the right type of relief.
Realistic representations of subjects such as birds, fish and small mammals,
Or simpler and more stylized representations of these same subjects.
This Chimu archaeological center takes the name of Waka el Dragon,
I also know Waka dell'arco iris or Tempio dell'arco baleno.
It was a votive temple used for ritual purposes and belonged to the citadel of Chan Chan.
It was built in brick and is now restored.
It's among the country's most important and best-preserved temples.
The archaeological complex formed by the Waka del Sol and the Waka della Luna,
over the temples of the Sun and the Moon,
It includes two large pyramids, the Waka Las Estrellas or the Tempio delle Stelle.
and Waka del Serro Blanco or Temple of the White Hill,
The Geoglifo del Ragno and other buildings.
These temples were the center of power in Mochica,
a millenarian civilization that developed between 100 and 900 A.D.
Today the site, also known as Wacas de Moche, covers an area of 60 hectares.
In front of the pyramid, the Waca del Sol is erected, the Waca della Luna,
Another fundamental component of the urban center is the ceremonial of the pre-Hispanic Moche civilization.
Peruvian and foreign students are conducting the excavations.
They reveal the complexity of this fascinating structure.
In numerous platforms and piazze are emerging colorful reliefs
The Commission has already taken a number of steps to ensure that the Commission's proposals are implemented.
So far, no one has identified at least four.
Along the walls of the Waca della Luna, which is composed of overlapping temples,
We can admire extraordinary figures that reproduce the rituals of the Moche.
If you want to see a beautiful mural,
The image of the god Ai-Apaek.
The Temple of the Moon is a stunning example of the results.
that can be reached after long and patient years of archaeological investigation.
The Chimu founded their capital a few kilometers away from Wan-Chako
And the name Yang-Yang, which in the ancient lingua mochica meant alone-alone.
I'm talking to the girl, while you don't know what language I'm talking to.
In antiquity, the ten citadels of Chimu and Chan-Chan were visited by visitors.
With their temples and palaces adorned with geometrical friezes of brilliant colors,
With their elaborate ceremonies imprinted forever on the painted ceramics
and his gold masterpieces, which would later become the treasure of the Incas.
Each citadel was independent and developed within ancient walls.
Some of which reach almost eight meters in height.
They had one entrance, straight and facing north.
It led to a corridor.
This was followed by other corridors running parallel to the walls of the building.
Characterized by a wonderful rectangular architecture.
Interior courtyards, residences, administrative buildings, temples, platforms and warehouses.
The walls were decorated with friezes with geometric figures and animals in relief.
The buildings of the citadels were built with brick.
Then covered in wood, and then made into wood, can and paper.
Unlike most of the other coastal sites in Peru,
Chan Chan's place is particularly close to the Pacific Ocean.
The main structures, which probably include the Citadel of Chai Wak
The temple of Wak Eligo, was built around 850 AD.
Each of these palaces, many of which were built following a very similar taste,
Although they have diverse dimensions, it is characterised by three types of premises.
The sale of publicly traded horseshoe craft, in stores and stores.
There were a variety of sizes and shapes of horseshoes, not including the name of the audiences.
They are considered to be the administrative offices of the Chimù elite.
Some of these are decorated with elaborate frogs in clay that depict medusae,
To stilize, marine birds and fish.
Another typical structure of the Chan Chan citadels are the great and deep wells
In which you could enter, which we can admire in the citadel of Scudi.
Today many of them are completely dried up, as are the summer gardens,
It probably came from growing the fruits and vegetables consumed by the inhabitants of Chan Chan.
Many inhabitants of Chan Chan resided in intermediate structures,
The smallest of the cities, but the most complex of the simple towns.
It is estimated that in these structures lived 12,000 artisans who worked in Chan Chan,
There are 35 other monumental buildings connected to them.
The Chan Chan Museum, which is located along the street of Trugillo.
It hosts a small collection of ceramics from Chan Chan.
and some exhibitions on nature and the history of the city.
The Moke civilization, which developed between 200 B.C. and 800 A.D.,
It was born near Trugillo, then spread along much of the north coast.
The Cimù civilization, which developed when the Moke were already extinct,
He built the complex of Chan Chan, the largest pre-Hispanic city in Peru.
Trugillo, which stands near the archaeological site, is one of the main cities founded by the Spaniards.
Maintained unaltered gran parte del suo fascino coloniale (maintened unaltered in most of its colonial fascination)
It is characterised by numerous archaeological sites and a lively tradition.
During the colonial era, the town grew in importance thanks to its agriculture.
Today it still preserves numerous and elegant churches and colonial houses.
Trugillo is such a pleasant and fascinating city.
It's worth spending some time walking along the same paths.
Or sitting on a bench in one of the romantic piazzas.
Founded in 1534 and baptized Trugillo,
the name of the city of birth of the Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro,
It is considered the cultural capital of Peru.
The city of Trugillo is becoming well known in Peru for its market.
and for your traditional footwear.
In the main area, next to the streets Ayacuco and Pizarro,
They can buy handmade shoes made of good quality leather.
Trugillo is the most important tourist destination in northern Peru.
And it's the starting point for visiting the site of Chan Chan.
