Newcastle United v. Brighton | PREMIER LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS | 5/18/2023 | NBC Sports

Same first eleven back line Byrne Botman shared Trippi really strong back for Pope and goal 13 clean sheets on the season strong talented hard working midfield three Willick Jolenton and Guimaraes all of the front three and double digits with goals but Calum Wilson leads the way with a career and club high 17th and Brighton will look like this for changes does deserve a make to his team he's left a few real good players on the bench hopefully they'll need them later in the game Van Heck in the center of defense comes in for Caldwell Caicedo continues to deputize that he ties it to right back Gilmour and Gross play double six they'll hold that allows and frees up that front four to go and express themselves but Tom has been a real threat on the left hand side seven goals four assists and Undov find a real good form three goals in his last four games the seagulls in their change kit will get the match underway wonderful atmosphere wonderful gaming store and Jim this should be fun anxiety can creep in with export across here it's come back to Albaron and deflects away behind for a Newcastle corner Van Heck did what center backs tend to do just get in the way somehow he was more or less turning his back on it in the end that's a lovely little ball though to to just kind of open it all up for it for Newcastle Midsomer will drive towards trivia this will be a good battle tonight slipped inside the well back straight to the first safe and it's been given away and he's Wilson Chauvin tremendous defending by Lewis Dunn smell the danger and came across the neck of time yeah I said to you earlier that's what's happening Joe Linton is is getting tight on on gross and will it is doing likewise with Billy Gilmore it's wonderful by dunk but if he goes near post he gets one away and it might have just crept in in going far post he allowed Dunn that extra split second trippiest corner oh it's trippy a set piece the route to gold again for you there Joey and midway through the first half Newcastle lead one nil well to start with the delivery from trip here is much better than we saw at the weekend and on this occasion didn't quite reach Quesada in the end but it's it's undaft who's who's not got up to meet it he's he's always struggling he's always underneath and he would obviously been hoping that it would just glide its way over everyone far post instead it's glided over everyone into the far corner and I think on what we've seen so far I think this is merited for Newcastle and in scoring the first goal this place is ignited kept the ball in play but it's turned into a pass for Al Moron Al Moron driving on kept his feet despite real pressure there from behind oh now being well then does this go the other way VAR will check it Lewis dunk here to the naked eye look to be a penalty Jim yeah I think I'm here on was hoping he'd get a stronger nudge so he'd have an excuse to go down but this is a very loose one from dunk and in sticking his leg out then you know it's an invitation for Wilson to do what he did and check complete is the verdict right in front of steel come on fan heck at share back in again way by dunk up goes Botman Dan Byrne took it no complaining saying that it's not a corner I mean dunk is is adamant it's not a corner and yet the referee seemed to have a good view of this one's burn got a turn on it they're convinced right and that there was no touch it's score here to defeat last season stupid yeah it's over bending from it's over not bending enough added time on first half stuff is showing this is a push from share Gilmore's the one who's down and yeah touching his face trippy his ball made towards time three special times here a special moment for him local life makes good their love of that in this stadium right now you call the joke you know the worst possible time for Brighton to concede that all important second goal and I've been saying it all night long I think what we've seen from trippier silky centers you know very very good delivery for whomever to attack and well when you let somebody of that size just run loose and that's exactly what Brighton did and heck it's got kind of drawn to the ball and nobody's really got gold side of burn and it's a cracking little header into the corner away from steel what a moment and then they will be some more dance moves later on this evening Dan Burr mayor right on half time watched by one and all say physical mismatch there it's a good ball of it chance here great say by steel wonderful say by Jason steel to keep his team in the game well there's a certain amount of it that I'll be one played it at the goalkeeper but nonetheless the goalkeeper has to be in position but not a just allowed burn to get the header in the little flick on from Willock and I mean if they do get back into this game you're going to look back on that and steel will have had you know a considerable part in helping them do that was a wonderful chance to open up a three goal lead there for Newcastle and now he's owned that was in behind just like that right and right back in the game now has scored at both ends here tonight it's back to 2 1 and it's game on and just made up of that miss chance for Newcastle what a game we have now he likes that in doesn't he enough I mean this is a great ball from Billy Gilmore and I don't know why but Newcastle have just sat off he in gross at the start of this second half there's obviously a little doubt as to whether he was onside or or off Dennis Undaff hoping this goal will stand and it will the check is complete goal given it is 2 1 and the Undaff goal in again here oh it's put wide by Wilson should be his free kick can burn that was a sure beat up there his arm was certainly being pulled was the appeal mainly from the Newcastle fans rather than players Al Marom searching ball good save by steel still might be a chance here turn away by Van Hecker and hit by Byrne and blocked away again Brighton there hanging on Joel Vincent so strong here Joel Vincent and he can't find a way beyond Caicedo a few afters there too here's Al Marom spot beyond Caicedo and now then Cavan Wilson the flag is saved down Wilson's away and Cavan Wilson St. James' Park alive passport back towards Champions League football again Castle fans all mouth joyous scenes and the goal stands he's onside 3 1 Trippier I think did really well with a little shoulder barge on Mitoma just to shake him off but this is superb work for a mom you're on albeit maybe a little too easy and the check is complete so the goal will stand and it wasn't offside by Wilson think Van Hecker was was keeping him onside once he got through I think we kind of knew what was going to happen here because the form he's been in in terms of scoring goals and the way he's answered his failure to convert some of the injury problems he's had has been outstanding really in the latter part of the season and that's one of the cherries on the top big big big moment eight minutes of stoppage time and Wilson again that came down to steal the win tonight a huge win for Newcastle United that's the message around St. James' Park get your passports listen to this got themselves into trouble again Brighton it's almost kind of taken them back to the first half in terms of conceding possession but this is so cool from Wilson knowing that he probably wasn't going to be able to go all the way with dunk inside and he didn't want to hit it with his left and he waited for the arrivals and first time as calm as you like from Kim arise and who thought it would have been by this margin just a few minutes ago a team revived a city revives vibrancy of timeside is back you cast the going places that's it so close down for Newcastle a special night here once again they powered their way home in the end with those two late goals to ease the anxiety and wipe away the tension and ultimately this is a superb win for Newcastle.
