Akwaba and welcome to Expat Life Ghana. I'm Ayo and this is Tony and we're documenting our move
from Texas to Ghana as we go beyond the return. In this video, what are three events you shouldn't
miss in Ghana? Let's get this video started. Someone asked us this question. What are three
events someone shouldn't miss when they're in Ghana? That's a tough one. Narrowing it down to
We throw our expat parties all the time, so one, two, three.
But that's a tough one, narrowing it down to just three. What do you think?
I don't go anywhere, so I'm gonna have to lean on you for this one.
Okay, well the first one must do, must be at, see at Afrocella.
Oh, I had a feeling you were gonna say that. Yeah, I mean it's like the event of the year.
Okay, why is Afrocella a must-do event here in Ghana?
All the big headliners, the Ghanaian artists, they are at the place. They are showing up and showing
out. They know the country is watching and because it's Afrocella, the world is watching.
So you're saying it's kind of a see and be seen type event?
Absolutely. You're also an audiophile.
Yeah, love the music.
So is this an event because, is this your top event because of the music?
Yeah, I think I'm, the Afro, pop Afro beat is really big now, so it's just a great,
great time to be in Ghana.
And any other reason that you really love Afrocella? It goes on for,
it's like five or six days, right?
Well, it's a couple day event and then the musical event, the music event is like two days.
So why is that? Is that the biggest thing?
Oh yeah, the people.
People, the music, you know, everybody's in town, it's holiday, it's party.
I get that. And it's really an international event. I mean, truly, it attracts people
and performers from all over the country, all over the world.
There is a lot of seeing and a lot of being seen that whole week.
You got that right, sister.
And really, that's all part of the greater celebrations happening
in Ghana for the holidays, because there's like a lot going on.
Absolutely. If Afrocella doesn't get you out, then the entire month of December,
it's almost its own must do.
I mean, I think I agree. I heard almost 400,000 people fly into Ghana in December.
400,000. That's a lot of people, you know.
Probably a couple hundred thousand more driving in.
Well, yeah, that's true. That's a lot of people who know where the party's at.
Yeah, it's in Ghana. And definitely, it's happening all over. Party events, live music,
festivities, all over. It's all hyped up. It's great.
OK, so Afrocella in the month of December is the number one event not to miss in Ghana.
And I think, based on all the footage that I edited for you,
that the Chale Wode Festival might be number two?
I would have to say so. It is a great time to be in Ghana in August,
where you get, you know, the best of the food, the best of art and culture, and just people.
Just people from all over. The creativity of some of the artwork you see is just
it's amazing to just be part of and just watch, you know, somebody
drawn on the street and you come back an hour later, it's just big murals of something.
It's just, it's just great. It's great.
So you're seeing artists, you're listening to musicians and singers,
you're watching painters, you're poets, sculptors, designers.
Frankly, every kind of art is all on display.
And the festival happens in August, so nowhere near the time of Afrocella.
Yeah, no.
But it's, man, it's amazing.
Check out the video we made on that in the description box below.
Yeah, so you definitely couldn't do an Afrocella and a Chale Wode at the same time,
because they're just not happening at the same time.
But the upside is that in August, it is much cooler than it is in December.
Yeah, I mean, well, if you want to do them both at the same time,
come in August, stay for December.
Well, if you're not about the heat,
maybe Chale Festival is better of the two just to kind of fit into that, like,
won't, it's so hot, you know what I'm saying?
Yeah, I mean, a lot of what's happening for Afrocella is at night and it's cooler then.
So both are great times, whether or not.
Okay, all right. So what comes in at the third spot for you?

I guess this is going to be different because I'm going to pick a festival that I've
never actually been to before.
Really? Seems a little risky. Okay, which one?
Around Easter, a couple hours north of Radar Croft, there's a bunch of people strapped
up to a parachute and jump off the cliff of a mountain.
What?
Yeah, it's a paragliding festival over the mountains of Quahog.
Okay, wait, so you're going to go paragliding?
I've been skydiving before and I'd much rather not do either again.
So the festival is more than just paragliding.
There are concerts, dance troupes, and a ton of entertainment and general party.
Okay, I bet there is. It sounds kind of like a guy's trip kind of thing to me though.
Maybe, actually.
I want to get a group of guys together to participate in the event for April 2023.
If you are that guy, let me know, hit me up.
You ready to hurl yourself off the side of a mountain in Ghana just for a tour of the
week of the event? Let me know.
Okay, well, that'll be an adrenaline-filled way to experience Ghana, I guess.
Yes, yes, yes.
I'm going to pack that whole week with adventure and fun, paragliding, ATVs, the canopy walk,
ziplining, go-karting, you know, all the guy stuff.
Some mountain climbing.
That sounds like a totally guy stuff.
I'm going to climb up the mountain, rock climbing, all kinds of crazy stuff.
Okay, if this sounds like you, then check out the adventure tour Tony is putting together
for April and his third pick as a must-do event here in Ghana.
Yes, Afrochill in December, Charlie Woody Fest in August, and paragliding in April.

Are you really going to go paragliding?
Or are you just going to go to the festival?
I'm going to go to the festival, I'm going to just get in a ride.
You know, I gained a couple pounds since the last time I went,
and there's that weight thing, so I hope I'm right under at the where I can go.
Did you see the video of the guy with the selfie stick who went and didn't quite make it?
Like he didn't, I think he was concentrating on the camera and not on the directions,
because you know you have to like run first.
You don't just like take off, so there's like a sprint.
And I think he wasn't sprinting, and he just ended up getting kind of dragged.
For a good few minutes with the selfie stick still up in the air.
I'm dying, but I'm getting it on camera folks, it's awesome.
It was, it was a great video, it's a great video.
So you have to run first.
Oh yeah, I know, that's why I can't do it.
I'd rather just push my other airplane, let's go.
True.
I bet people don't even believe that we jumped out of the airplane.
You were there.
I pushed him, that's why.
She knows.
There you go.
All right, here we go.
Are you ready?
Everything's relative.
Everything is relative.
You want me to start it, or you got it?
I'll start it.
No, you do the, I'll start it.
I'll do the last one.
Ready?
How close, man.
