So the Mets are not happy with the way Marcus Stroman acted, especially after getting out
of a jam in the 8th inning.
So we have the top of the 8th, 4-2 Cubs over the Mets.
We get an off-speed pitch here, double play ball, Dansby Swanson, you see Stroman pointing
at himself, yelling over at the Mets bench, and if we look at it from another angle, I'm
pretty sure he said, I'm that mother effer, I'm not a great lip reader, so let me know
if you read something different.
Now after the game, there was an anonymous source from the Mets, I never understood the
anonymous source, if you get something to say, just say it.
But here's the tweet that's going around, it says, an anonymous man on Marcus Stroman's
exit from last night's game, quote, show some respect, be a professional, it isn't about
you.
So they asked Mets manager Buck Showalter after the game what he thought about the comment
and also about Stroman's actions.
Now this brings me right back to minor league baseball, because anytime we complained about
anything in the minor leagues, this is what they said, oh I hate eating peanut butter
and jelly every day, oh you don't like it?
Play better.
Oh I can't stand these 10 hour bus rides with no air conditioning, oh you don't like it?
Play better.
Oh I can't afford to support my family making $5,000 a year, oh you don't like it?
Play better.
So here are my thoughts, baseball is an individual game disguised as a team sport, it's pitcher
versus hitter, both players are basically on an island and the spotlight is on them
and every player needs something different to get locked in and play their best.
Some pitchers need to get pissed off, they feed off that energy, some pitchers need to
stay calm.
Stroman pitches off of motion, he's playing his former team, he's pumped up, I don't mind
the guy playing with emotion, I don't mind him talking a little smack.
If you want to shut him up, then take him deep and do the same thing back at him, that's
what happens in other sports, basketball, football, hockey, I'm sure it happens in other
sports also, but those are the 3 sports that I've played and there's a lot of smack talk
going back and forth the entire game.
So what are your thoughts on this?
Do you like it?
Do you not like it?
