Heat star Jimmy Butler and his teammates were confident as they practiced ahead of Game 2 of the NBA Finals.
Okay, well now to the finals fever.
It's game night for the Miami Heat
as they get ready to take on the Denver Nuggets
in game two of the NBA finals.
The Heat looking to bounce back
from a tough loss in game one.
And local 10's Janice Fernandez joins us live
with all the excitement from Denver.
Good morning, Janice.
Good morning, Alex and Amy.
From what is a very rainy Denver,
it feels more like South Florida.
But look, the Miami Heat looking to turn things around.
It was a rocky start to game one,
but their confidence is still very much there
and that all starts with their coach, Coach Spoh,
giving his players this advice, let it fly.
And that is exactly what the Heat intend to do.
And here's the thing, yes, many improvements need to be made
after that rocky start to game run.
The Heat know they have to improve their shooting,
they need to be more aggressive at the rim,
and they absolutely need to get to the free throw line.
And Jimmy Butler very much saying
that it all starts with him.
He knows the players look to him
when it comes to keeping up that energy
throughout the game, but he says he's not really going
to change up the formula here.
He has full confidence in his shooters.
I'm still going to throw you the ball.
And if you miss the next 10,
if you're open on that 11th one,
I'm still going to throw you the ball
because you'll never be the reason why we lose.
It's always a group effort
and I want you to take the same shots
because they're going to be there
and we are going to throw you the ball, stay aggressive
because you've been the reason
that we've won so many games before.
You're going to be the reason that we win games now.
And here's the thing that should hopefully
make Heat fans feel a little bit better.
Game one was on Thursday.
The team has had two days to not only rest up,
but to watch that film and really be eyeballed.
Okay, we're not going to do that.
We are here and we are staying here.
But like I said, is that they've had two days to recover.
They've had two days to look at film
and make those improvements.
They intend to do just that going into game two tonight.
The excitement is filling in the air.
We are just getting things started here in Denver,
but of course we'll bring you that live coverage
all day long.
All right, you tell him, Janice.
And one thing we want to talk about,
teams, we've got some statistics here.
Teams that win game one of the NBA finals
have gone on to win the series 69.7% of the time.
Talk to us, is that a statistic that Heat are worried about?
Listen, to be clear, the Heat,
they're never worried about any statistics, right?
This is an AC that no one expected to make
to the NBA finals, but they are here.
But the reason why Heat fans are not worried
about that statistic is because
if you've been a lifelong Heat fan like I have been,
you know that the three championships we've won
in each of those series, we never won game one.
So we are not worried at all about those numbers.
We know this team has what it takes
and they can turn things around.
And we are expecting to see an explosive game two tonight.
Yeah, the Heat, they're always pleasantly surprising us.
Listen, Jenny, a big question before you go.
I know a lot of people are wondering,
will we see the return of Tyler Hero tonight?
Oh, wouldn't that be exciting?
But Coach Spoh will not say either way.
He was questioned a lot at yesterday's press conference
if they plan to put Tyler Hero in,
but he says that that decision has not been made.
But with that being said, we did see Hero at practice
and he was looking really good.
So yes, it is a game time decision.
He has not been completely ruled out.
We should find out later on today
if they plan to put him in, but it is safe to say,
at least from what we've been able to see,
that it is looking very likely
that even if Hero does not play tonight,
we should see his return for game three in Miami.
All right, we will all be waiting at the edge of our seats
to see what's gonna happen tonight in terms of that score.
Janice, thank you so much.
Miami, we are ready and ready.
All right.
Thank you so much, Janice.
Thank you again, Janice.
And don't miss all the action tonight.
