Here are six timeless staples for spring and the multiple ways I would wear them for different
occasions.
Starting with a classic trench coat, one of the most hardworking items in my wardrobe
for spring.
This is from Under the Stories.
I love the camel stone colour, it's such an easy shade and tone to style with the neutral
I also really like the cuff detail and the exaggerated collar, Under the Stories is one
of my go-to places for shopping for elevated basics.
A trench coat is great for spring but also all year round.
Here I've styled it casually with blue jeans, a striped t-shirt from Cozz and Converse.
A trench coat is a chic and timeless staple for work too, a simple and easy to recreate
work wear outfit shown here with black trousers, a white blouse and black slingback heels.
A trench coat added on top of my outfit instantly makes me feel more put together, for spring
I also like to wear a trench coat with cream and white for a fresh and brighter monochrome
outfit as I've shown here with the white tailored trousers and ribbed white vest.
Next we have a blue and white striped shirt.
This one is from Zara, they do a similar style every year.
The blue adds colour and brightens up your wardrobe.
This is a go-to spring summer outfit for me, a striped blue and white shirt with white
tailored trousers and tan accessories.
Wearing a tan Isabel Marant knot belt and a tan bag from Pauline Paris.
The tan accessories really bring the outfit together and tan and brown are such great
colours to wear in spring summer and they really make the outfit pop.
For a more relaxed weekend spring look I have paired it with a tank top, off-white jeans,
trainers and a basket bag.
A favourite of mine for spring is off-white cream straight leg jeans.
I'm really loving denim at the moment and straight leg jeans are a classic shape and
easy go-to for building outfits in the spring.
I pick these over a blue jean as the off-white tone is perfect for spring and brightening
up your outfit to match the weather.
These are from River Island.
I love River Island jeans as they do them in a regular, short and tall length catering
for all heights.
I do also have this shape and style in black because I love the fit of the jeans so much.
I've styled it here with a khaki bomber jacket from Zara, a black vest, black bag and black
boots.
Black contrasts really nicely and brings the outfit together against the cream jeans.
For a more laid back look I've styled it with a tank top and striped knit and they can be
dressed for the evening too with a cute top, heels and a clutch bag.
For this outfit I've added a leather jacket on top for when it gets chilly in the evening
which is another great piece to add to your spring wardrobe.
Another way to style for a smart casual occasion is with a structured black blazer and a striped
bandeau top.
Any tank top or scoop neckline will give a similar look.
The off white goes perfectly with the neutrals, tan, beige, black and the list goes on.
You really cannot go wrong with a classic neutral blazer.
This one is Arquette's well known wool hopsack blazer.
Beige tones lift my outfit to give a fresh spring look.
A blazer is a timeless staple that will not go out of style and is versatile for a variety
of settings.
A blazer can be dressed up for the evening with tailored trousers or dressed down with
jeans and trainers for a more casual look.
A more feminine and in my opinion fun piece to add to your wardrobe is a satin skirt.
I'd opt for a midi or maxi length which is super chic.
It's a great piece that is also so comfortable to wear and weather appropriate for the spring
season.
Here's a casual outfit with a denim jacket and trainers but equally wearing with a satin
blouse or fun evening top quickly makes this outfit perfect for date night or a more dressy
occasion.
Here are two more ways to wear a satin midi skirt showing you that there are so many different
combinations to be made when wearing a satin midi skirt for spring.
And last but not least, a tank top.
A perfect base layer item, I've included a tank top with all of the previous spring staple
pieces and it's such an easy item to wear under a denim jacket, a blazer, a biker jacket
or a trench coat.
Personally, sticking to classic items and elevating the outfit with accessories and
tailored pieces is key for looking chic without looking too try hard.
These are some of my favourite timeless staples for spring but also for the most part all
year round as well.
