So this is the beautiful chapel of St George's in Hamplet which is buried deep in the Oxfordshire
countryside and I wanted to show you this chapel because I came across it earlier this year
and I fell in love with it so much that it inspired a scene in the novel and the scene
is when Anne Boleyn comes from Hever to meet Henry at Bewley as part of his progress and
and she's taken to meet him and he's waiting for her at his private devotions in his chapel so
I'm just going to show you around a bit because this is one of the most exquisite little churches
that I think I've ever seen in England. The church itself is actually Norman
the church itself is actually Norman but in the Victorian age quite controversially
this is decided to repaint a lot of the what would have been the original medieval
paintwork on walls so you're left with these beautiful Romanesque arches
all coloured in these beautiful I think all this ochre paint and then if you come into the chapel
it's absolutely exquisite
and one of the things I noticed you're going to have to come closer to see this
all over the walls there is the initial A painted everywhere
which I just thought was really really sweet and then all over actually there's one over there
we haven't got the sun at the moment but when the sun does come through there's this
that just comes through that same glass window
which depicts the crucifixion of Christ. Anyway so that is going to be all from me
and I hope you've enjoyed our little tour of St George's Inhabitant. Thank you!
