And Nicola is walking out right now.
I think he's getting ready to take a seat.
He is about to take a seat.
We'll get him miked up.
Congratulations, champ.
Way to go, Joker.
Nice job.
Can you hear us yet through the mics?
You halfway there?
No, not really.
We'll get you there.
You might need this.
You're going to need that.
This is Serbia.
Wow.
This is what's happening tonight in Serbia.
See all his family and friends.
Do you know how much time is in Serbia?
Like 4 o'clock in the morning?
It's 4 AM?
Look at the people.
Wow.
On the streets.
My bad.
That's all for you, boss.
That's everybody.
That's good.
Having grown up there, what does this scene mean to you?
This is a dismal.
Oh.
Yeah, that's good.
Now that's good.
Beautiful.
That's good.
You know, in Serbia, it's 4 o'clock,
maybe even 5, plus 8, 6.
Yeah.
6.30 in the morning.
They put an all-nighter for you.
Yes, you know, when you go home, you always
don't kind of let the people that, you know,
I have a lot of guys and a lot of people that I've grown with.
And I'm coming from a small city.
And everybody knows me.
And I'm always worried what they're
going to say when I go home, you know?
And I hope they're going to say good things about me right now.
They're going to say a lot of good things about you.
I think they probably will.
I think a lot of them are also calling in sick, is my guess,
because it's 6.30 in the morning.
You were so calm when the buzzer sounded.
You went over and said congratulations to the Heat.
But the moment didn't seem surprising to you.
What was going through your head?
You know, my mom taught me one thing.
Don't get high and lose.
Don't get high and win.
Don't get down and lose.
And I really respect Miami Heat.
I think they're a great team.
Maybe in some eyes, they exceed expectation,
but not in my mind.
I think they're a really, really intelligent team, really
teams that know what they're doing,
defensively and offensively.
And I think that's why they're in the finals.
And I'm just happy that we won the game.
Nicola, talk to us a little bit about your relationship
with Coach Malone.
It seems like it's such a unique and special relationship.
It's such a different one than what we normally
see in the NBA with coaching players.
To be honest, even when I say, when I sign my, no, or yes.
No, when they brought me an MVP title in Serbia,
I told the whole family.
It was a family, Kroenke, Josh, and coach.
And I told, I'm going to be honest with you guys.
And honesty is something that I drive.
And I was always honest to them.
I think that's why coach and I have a good relationship.
I always tell what I think.
Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad.
But honesty, relationship, good communication,
trust and believe in each other, I
think that's why we came here.
It seems like you and your family
have adopted Coach Malone.
After the game, your brothers are throwing him up
in the air like a little baby.
I mean, look at that.
Yes, Coach was in my hometown a couple of times.
We were drinking a couple of times, so, you know.
Just a couple?
In my hometown.
He's a great competitor.
That's why he said, it's not the first one.
We were hungry, we want the second one.
And that's actually what, if one sentence to describe him,
that's the sentence to describe him.
Well, I'm trying to describe your game
because your game is nothing like I've ever
seen from the center position before as far as your
completeness.
And one thing that really stands out to me is your passing.
And I can't remember if it was Jamal or if it was Aaron
that said, you're a point guard at the center position.
How did you develop that special passing ability that you have
that makes everybody better?
I think one guy cannot win it.
Maybe a game, of course, but the whole thing, he cannot win it.
I think you need the teammates.
And when you're passing, when you're trusting each other,
and when you're passing in the game,
I think the whole team wants to play.
It's better to play when you're passing.
Everybody touch the ball, everybody
feel they're contributing to the game.
So I think passing is something that is always in my game.
And I just like it.
What part of the season that you really felt,
you guys have had success, you've had individual success.
What part of the season where you felt,
we really can win this, we can win the whole thing this year?
And the additions that you guys.
That's a great picture.
I'm sorry, I was listening the whole thing, yes.
No, no, I was listening for real.
No, you wasn't listening.
There it is.
That is a great picture.
There you go.
I was listening.
I like the picture, too.
I was listening.
Finish.
What part of the season?
To be honest, in the beginning, yes, if you
look at the schedule of the last four games,
we lost Detroit, we lost Houston,
we lost at home somebody.
I think Chicago was struggling, and they beat us in our home.
But like I said, you need to fail.
You need to be bad.
You need to lose, and then you're
going to figure out how to win.
It's the team that wins, and I really truly believe in that.
Well, what do the next week or two look like for you now?
You've got a parade coming up here on Thursday.
How soon till you're back in Sambor?
On Sundays, I have my horse racing.
Horse racing?
I was going to get to that, the horse racing.
Maybe, I don't know how we're going to arrive.
Thursday, parade, Friday, maybe.
Would you make it?
I don't know.
Maybe you got enough time to squeeze it in?
I'm going to ask Josh to give me a plane.
Oh, I think he'll definitely let you get the team plane.
I think you deserve that.
You deserve a little more than that.
I'm going to finish by-
I put him under the pressure.
Yes, I did.
I don't feel bad at all.
I'm going to wrap up by telling you something
that I know you don't care about,
but it's worth repeating.
You're one of 10 players in NBA history
now with two regular season MVPs and a finals MVP.
Two players?
10.
The league's been around a while.
How many years?
75, 6, 7?
I don't know.
What do we have?
76.
It's pretty good.
Pretty good.
Not bad.
Not bad, he says.
Not bad.
It's a small club.
Thank you, guys.
Congratulations on your entry in the club
and the championship club as well.
Great job.
Thank you.
Get that plane.
Finals MVP, Nicole Stankovich.
Best player in the world.
Good luck in the horse racing, getting back
to Sambor, the parade, all of it.
