The Biggest LOSER In Baseball

The Kansas City Royals are awful this year, and the only reason they aren't being talked
about or clowned on that much is because the A's are busy taking up all the negative
attention with that debacle over in Oakland.
Everything about this Royals team is a joke, at least the vast majority of it.
The offense is terrible, the starting rotation besides Zach Granke is bad, and the bullpen
just isn't good enough.
It's sad and frustrating to see, considering the Royals were supposed to be ending the
Well, within all the crap on the Royals, you will find the biggest loser in baseball, literally,
and that man is starting pitcher Jordan Lyles.
But before we get any further, if you're part of the 70% not subscribed watching this video,
make sure to hit that button, thank you.
Now I mean this in the most non-personal way possible, obviously, I don't know Jordan Lyles
the person.
He might very well be the nicest, most kind man on earth, but as far as his pitching on
a big league mound goes, it's ugly.
The reason I call him the biggest loser out of all the pitchers having poor seasons in
2023 is because Lyles has the most losses in baseball at 9.
He's 0-9.
0-9.
And not only that, but the Royals have lost the other three games he's started, which
ended in no decisions for Lyles, so the Royals are 0-12 and Jordan Lyles has taken the ball
to start the game for the team this season, which is just the 7th time in MLB history
a team lost a pitcher's first 12 starts of a season.
He's given up the most runs in baseball with 51.
He's given up the most home runs in baseball with 17.
He tends to not strike anybody out.
He's allowing well over a runner on per inning.
I mean one quick glance at these numbers and it's just a total joke out there for Lyles.
It's really bad.
It's brutal.
And it's gotten to the point where even when he's good, which is like never, but the one
time he did good, which was in his latest outing against the Rockies, as he struck out
8 hitters and allowed just one run, the Royals still lost the game.
His baseball reference wins above replacement, which is a stat that tells you how many wins
a player is worth to a team, is negative 1.
So if you're watching this video, you, yes you, have been more valuable to the Kansas
City Royals this year than Jordan Lyles has been and he's getting paid millions of dollars.
Oh, and if you think 2023 has just been bad, wait till you hear what's next.
Jordan Lyles has been in the major leagues for not one, not two, not three or four, but
13 years.
And guess what?
He hasn't had a single good year amongst those 13 years.
He's been on 8 different teams throughout those years too.
I don't know why, you would think after like the 4th or 15th the league would realize this
guy is awful at pitching, but no, apparently not.
Apparently nobody got the memo because he keeps ending up on a new team that somehow
thinks he's going to be a serviceable major league starting pitcher when he has proven
what he is at this point, a terrible major league starting pitcher.
His total career baseball reference version of wins above replacement is negative 2.3.
He has 66 wins and 99 losses.
Again, bad.
But I am most certainly not done here, because what I'm about to tell you may be the craziest
thing about Jordan Lyles yet.
Maybe it won't be, maybe you won't be surprised about this, but I most certainly was or at
least found it to be pretty wild.
So Jordan Lyles is currently in the first year of a 2 year, 17 million dollar contract
with the Royals.
He's making 8 and a half million dollars a year to help his team lose every game he
has a say in, and again, I just told you, he's always been this bad.
It's not like 2023 is an outlier, yet the Royals still decided to pay him 8 and a half
million dollars a year.
Why?
Your guess is as good as mine.
So Lyles is making bank this year and next year, and overall, the dude is rich.
He hasn't had a single season worthy of millions of dollars over 13 years yet has
built up a really nice net worth.
Are you ready for this?
Jordan Lyles' net worth is, I can't believe this isn't real, 51 million dollars.
51 million.
His career war, aka wins above replacement, is negative 2.3.
His career ERA is over 5.
He's lost 99 games, yet he's made an average of about 4 million dollars a year and has
built a net worth of over 50 million dollars over 13 years.
I have no idea how he's lasted this long in the big leagues.
What that money all shows and proves is that as long as you make it to the big leagues,
you can become rich.
You don't even have to be good.
You can be pretty terrible, actually.
You can be the worst pitcher, yet still become a multi-millionaire.
I mean, it makes sense, I guess a little bit, because even if you suck at the big league
level, you're still at the highest level and one of the best of the best, and there's
only so many guys to pay because there's only so many big leaguers, so there's money
to go around, I guess.
Obviously, it helps if you're good, as you'll, of course, accumulate way more than 50 million
like Lyles has, but 50 million still seems absurd for a guy as bad as Lyles is to have
made.
But, yeah, just make it to the big leagues and you will be rich, even if you're Jordan
Lyles.
Again, don't know the guy.
He could be the coolest dude ever, but on the baseball field, he is statistically the
biggest loser in baseball.
I mean, I guess it's impressive he's been able to stay in the league as terribly long
as he has while being terrible.
That's a talent.
That's a skill.
That's an art.
To be that bad, yet still get paid millions of dollars and play for 13 seasons and counting.
Absolutely insane.
