Joey Votto powers Reds to 9 Straight W's!

It was like a scene out of a movie, right? Joey Votto's done. They haven't been in first place this late in the season since 2012. Wow. He said his rehab was long and daunting. He said, I know better than anyone this is a performance-based business. You've got to perform. He performed his first game back. And as I sat there last night, I was saying to myself, when you listen to people talk like this young team coming into their own, how would he assimilate back in? Yeah. He is the perfect personality to take this on. That's what I was saying to myself. And for him to show out like he did last night, we're going to get into it. You George Clooney? You into George Clooney at all? Sure. Mm-hm. Yeah. You seen The Perfect Storm? No. That's one of them. That's a classic. Every day you say one I have to lock in on. Yesterday, what did you tell me I had to watch? Yeah. Mark Wahlberg's in it. What was the one yesterday that you had to watch? Vision Quest. Get on that loud and swing. OK. But The Perfect Storm, George Clooney, they need to go catch fish at the Flemish Cap. And he's got his young guns with him, the Mark Wahlbergs of the world. They end up all dying in the end. So you don't have to spoil it totally. But I thought last night he was Clooney. He was the perfect storm to come back. This team, like I said, they've been red hot and built on. Everyone's showing up to the ballpark to see the young guns play. The Elie Delacruz's, Matt McClain, even Spencer Steer, who's playing a little bit of Joey Votto's position. But you talk about the perfect personality for Joey Votto to walk back in. First off, 17 MLB seasons, seven-time league leader in on-base percentage, six-time All-Star, 2010 NL MVP, where he put up 324 with 37 and a buck 13. His career war is 64.7. He's a borderline Hall of Famer for some. He's definitely getting in. And yesterday, let's go through the ABs. He's known for having unbelievable eyesight at the dish. He came out ultra aggressive, swinging at the first pitch off Austin Gomber. And then his second bat, I mean, come on. I was off my couch when he did this. Knowing he was going to get the Viking treatment, he's an entertainer. Like I said, met him in 07-08, playing in the NL Central. A completely different presence when you got to first base. He is so comfortable in his own skin. He is one of the most interesting men in baseball. And for him to have this moment last night, they have ridden these young guys to a first place in the standings right now. And last night, when they needed all reliable to show up and have a moment, he did exactly that. It was awesome to watch. And I'm going to keep going right here, because he slapped four quality ABs. But his postgame sound says it all. Long time coming. And I thought, ever since I watched them put it on each other, I was thinking about how badly I want that on me. Because it's tied to a winning moment. And that's exactly, exactly what this team's about. And this is a different energy. This is a different energy than I've experienced in years, maybe in my entire career. The way these guys think about themselves, how hard they play. I want to be a part of this. We are all a part of this. And it just feels so good. It's exactly what we deserve here in Cincinnati. Are you kidding me? You know what the first sign of a true leader is? When you make it not about you. When you make it about everyone else. OK? Joey Votto wants the best for the Cincinnati Reds. The organization. Their fan base. These young kids. It can't be understated what he means to this team. And for him to come back last night, I just thought it was such an awesome moment. Because they are. They're going to have to nickel and dime. I don't think he just goes right back into playing every day. The way they're built. Spencer Steer's going to move around. Joey Votto's obviously going to get the bulk of the ABs. Because when he's healthy, last time he was healthy, he threw up 36 and lost 90. I think Hunter Green just went on the injured list. Been bothering him. I want to be a part of this. They are going to struggle at some point. It's just the nature of a buck 62. And he will be the perfect guy to kind of navigate through murky waters. Through the storm. We got it. Because that's where the fish are.
