Ducks. Hands up who likes ducks! Yes, me too! Ducks are water birds that can live in salt water or freshwater environments. They can be found all over the world except Antarctica. Do you think ducks are great swimmers? Yes, they are. They have wonderful webbed feet to propel them along and a waterproof waxed coat. This can keep them warm and dry, even in icy water. Brr, that looks cold! Ducks love to bob for their food, which consists of small plants, fish, and yummy insects. Some heavier ducks can dive really deep to catch fish. They're called diving ducks. Common ducks come in lots of colors. They have shiny heads, a beak, wings for flying, and funny waggly tails. A mummy duck is called a hen, a daddy duck is called a drake, and little baby ducks are called ducklings. Hello little ducklings! Would you like to play with a tiny duckling?
