(Ligue 1 2022/2023): Highlights TROYES - LOSC LILLE

Lille knew victory at relegated Troyes would guarantee them a place in the Europa League. A repeat of their thumping 5-1 win in the reverse fixture would certainly suit Paolo Fonseca's side, although loss were winless in four prior visits to Estac. History versus current reality, Patrick Casnorvo had not got a tune out of his side. Despite a positive start, the Australian hasn't celebrated a home win. The last at the Stade de l'Aube came the first month of the season. Fonseca's main concern was Les Dogues had lost two and drawn two of the last four on the road, that included a shock loss to Angers. Benjamin Andre, with 20 goals in the top flight in 12 campaigns, elected for something more spectacular. It didn't pay off, but Lille kept looking. Gautier Cannon, well positioned to deny Jonathan David after his double of penalties against Nantes, brought three points last week. Angel Gomez back from suspension, stinging the gloves of Cannon. Romenguet, Kouame, provided a rare threat for Troyes. No problems for Lucas Chevalier. Well, Lille have hit the woodwork more than any other team in the league this season. Angel Gomez adding to the tally. Fabulous effort from the Englishman and the Man United former starlet wasn't satisfied there. He went on to hit for the second time the woodwork and the 21st time of the campaign for Lille. Well, at the break it was advantage Rennes in the race for the Europa League, as they led in Brest while Lille were all square. Troyes had won just one of their 18 Ligue 1 Uber Eats games at home this season, and could become the fourth team to register as few home wins in the top flight season. And it wasn't looking good, but suddenly the continent looked to be on its way to Lille. Bafourdi Diakite, not the cleanest of finishes, but he won't care. His best scoring season of his young career, third goal all coming this calendar year. Jonathan Bamba with a cutback, a deflection seeing the defender net. Well, Bamba with an assist trying to add a goal himself, likely to leave at the end of his contract this summer. The 2021 champion trying to leave on a high. It was a former teammate that came to haunt Le Dog. Ronnie Lopez with his seventh of the season. The Portuguese has scored as many goals since the beginning of the year than his three previous years combined. A painful goal for Lille to concede with Rennes winning, and that saw Paula Fonseca's side qualify for the Europa Conference League. That was in Les, they found a late winner, but it wasn't to be as Estac put their bodies on the line. Frustration for Lille as they finished fifth, having had all the cards in hand. We see Gallon paying tribute to the Estac fans as Lille bowed out. The season that brings Not the Europa League.
