Meanwhile, West Ham are becoming increasingly frustrated about the delay with the deal to
sell Declan Rice to Arsenal. The £105m deal was agreed eight days ago, but it hasn't yet
been signed. West Ham are still waiting to sign the contracts and the hold-up is being
caused by delays with paperwork that's being drawn up by Arsenal's lawyers. As far as West
Ham are aware, Rice has passed his Arsenal medical. Speaking on Backpage's Night, David
Johnson says Arsenal fans don't need to worry.
Yeah, full respect to everybody's reporting and whether or not that's the case, my understanding
is that pretty much everything is done and dusted and for Arsenal fans there's nothing
to be concerned about. They are committing a record fee, £100m plus £5m in add-ons.
Of course, they still needed to agree the payment structure which got done and yeah,
the announcement can take time of a deal of this magnitude. There's a lot to work through
on various sides of the deal, but to my knowledge, it is on track and they'll get the final stages
done and then everybody will get this announcement they've been waiting for in due course.
