I flew on a Korean Air Boeing 747-8 from Atlanta to Seoul Incheon in First Class. This is the current longest Boeing 747 flight in the world with over 7,100 miles and with 15-16 hours of flying time.
Check out the Korean Air First Class Suite (Kosmo Suite II) and its amenities. During the flight, I tried out the Korean Bibimbap, which is served across all classes on Korean Air. I also learned about Korean culture from the Korean cabin crew.
For many of us, the journey itself is the most exciting part of the trip. Korean Air B747-8 First Class is one fine example of luxury travel with a fully enclosed private suite, fine dining, amenities and attentive service. The only thing missing is the Wi-Fi connectivity to make the experience perfect.Credit: Sam Chui
Flying the longest 747 flight in first class today.
283rd 747 ride.
Thank you, see you.
Yeah, I need one of those.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I forgot how to wear one of these for a while.
Hello, how are you?
Nice to meet you.
You're just as excited as I am.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thank you.
Nose cabin, what else is better?
Only the 747 has it, right?
I'm not quite used to this
and the security guard stopped me at boarding
just to wear one of these
and I think Asian airlines are still very conservative
when it comes to COVID.
I'm Isawan, who will be in charge of you
with your whole service.
And today, I'm your duty crew.
I'm mainly in charge of your cuisine today.
Would you like some drinks?
We have detox juice.
Apple, carrot and beet we have.
First time I had a detox welcome drink.
Maybe I'm going healthy now.
Champagne later after take off, cheers.
Hey, I hear I found my actress today.
What's your name?
My name is Kim.
Miss Kim.
You want to see a 747 up right now?
Let's see it.
Let's go.
Of course.
Okay.
Door's armed.
We thumb up and it'll be safe to check.
Wow, I love it, that's K-pop.
We pushed back on time
and now texting to the active runway for take off.
Unfortunately, there's no one allowed to visit a cockpit,
even on the ground at Korean Air.
There's a blanket ruse.
I think it's the Korean Civil Aviation Authority.
I'm unable to meet the pilot
to understand how long this flight takes.
On an average day, this flight actually takes
15 to 16 hours to reach Incheon.
Makes it the world's longest 747 flight
because the winds are really bad
going towards Asia to in westbound.
And also due to the unable to fly over the Russian airspace
due to the sanction of Russia.
After take off, I found Miss Kim,
my favourite person here on Korean Air.
You're back.
You're like my sister here, right?
Younger sister, of course.
Oh, you finally realised.
I will keep showing you my Boeing 747 shirt.
I bought this in the last week
when I attended the last 747 ceremony at Boeing.
I have one more inside.
Hold on a second.
Let me take this off.
So this is another special edition of the 747.
But that's not the best part yet.
Wait for the best part.
747, forever incredible.
Welcome to my 283rd 747 ride.
I was very, very emotional during the last 747 ceremony,
but I also learned something.
Korean Air has the last 747 passenger,
a 747-8 out of all the 747 produced.
The registration is HL7644.
This is economy.
Are you serious?
This is economy?
This looks huge.
It's bibimbap, right?
Wow.
Gochujang.
I know this one.
Yeah, gochujang.
So you add water on the soup.
Add more water.
Like a seaweed.
This is like soybean paste.
And this is hot as well.
It's already heated.
Amazing.
Every class, I think first business economy
has bibimbap.
So we have another choice.
That's beef with the red wine sauce.
Can we see it?
Yeah, of course.
This is also pretty generous.
So you're going to have mashed potato and some vegetables.
I've got to share something with you.
This morning, I came from Dallas on the Delta flight.
All I have is a biscuit.
First class for two hours.
All I have is a poor biscuit.
When I look at the middle economy in Korean Air,
I felt poor right now.
This is our menu booth.
And we will be serving your dining courses
two times during the flight.
It's a very long flight.
And normally, we will be serving a lunch
right after takeoff.
And then the menus written here
will be served in the order.
So you can please take a look.
And then we have three main courses.
It's the bibimbap, beef tenderloin, and cod fish.
But bibimbap is very famous for Korean passengers
or other people.
So I highly recommend this menu.
Thank you.
Lunch is underway at this locale.
It's all clear, but we have some C.A.T.
Clear Air Turbulence, which is not funny
while you're having lunch.
It's rocking it.
Our next course is the tomato cream soup.
Our salad.
I don't eat vegetable.
Real men eat meats only.
Bring the meats.
I just did five course,
but I haven't even got to the main course yet.
I did the canapé, the caviar, the soup,
the salad, and the sorbet right now.
The landscape has also changed dramatically
as we fly north.
Now you can see completely snow-covered ground.
What a pleasure.
Five-star dining.
And look out, four windows
on the 747-81st class.
Wow.
Yeah.
It has lots of weights.
You can lift up the bibimbap.
I'm strong.
I can lift it all.
That's like big, big size.
May I have a look?
You can show me, yeah.
Yeah, this is the onion.
Onion.
Yeah, onion.
And cucumber pickle.
And this is, as you all know,
this is gochujang.
Gochujang.
Yes.
And this is the Israel oil.
And I'm going to make it.
This is the Korean style ribeye.
This is our seaweed soup.
Soup.
Soup, yeah, seaweed soup.
And then, may I start?
I am feeling like a king right now.
Yeah.
Sesame oil.
Yeah, sesame oil.
Yeah.
This is so cool.
I wish every airline do this,
live cooking show.
It's a very colourful vegetable.
We are always proud of this bibimbap.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, really.
I think Korean Air is the only airline, right?
Yeah.
Amazing.
Thank you.
My pleasure.
We'll skip the cheese.
I'll just have the fruit.
Oh, just fruit?
Just fruit, yeah.
Okay.
I'm done.
Out of a seven course.
I challenge anyone to come here,
to fly Korean Air,
to finish the whole course.
Seven course meal.
We have one more dessert course left.
Let's do it after later,
after I sleep.
Okay.
Right now, I have no power at all to eat anymore.
Okay, for now.
Yeah, I'm done.
I'm done.
I'm destroyed by the meal here.
Yeah, thank you.
I want to share with you the VPN I use when I travel.
It's called Surfshark VPN.
So why you need a VPN?
You can actually bypass the internet censorship.
You can actually encrypt your data
and even found cheaper travel.
So internet censorship is a huge pain
when you go to countries where your Google Gmail,
where your social media,
like Instagram, Facebook, YouTube are blocked.
I use Surfshark VPN to bypass that internet censorship
by connecting to another country.
And even better,
you can access to all the Netflix library
by just having one Surfshark VPN subscription.
There might be also a good opportunity
to found cheaper travel,
such as cheaper air ticket,
cheaper hotel and cheaper rental car
by connecting to Surfshark VPN
to another country to check out the prices.
When I'm travelling,
I normally use public Wi-Fi,
stay in a hotel or the airport,
which is not safe.
People can crack into your PC
by going through a public network.
So I use Surfshark VPN to secure and encrypt my data.
So here's the best VPN deal.

This toilet reminded me of Dreamliner.
Similar engine to Dreamliner
and also similar bathroom.
I mean, it's kind of like a Dreamliner
on a four engine, right?
This is a really long flight.
It still has 11 hours to go.
So what could be better than take a nap
and kill a few more hours?
See you guys later.
Here's the galley time.
Here is what I do usually.
I ride to the airline to get a permission
so I can film behind the scenes
and the lovely crew, what they're doing.
I'm mostly interested about your uniform,
about you wearing white and she's wearing blue.
How do you decide who wear white and who wear blue?
Well, it depends on our mood and today's feeling.
So actually today I'd like to wear a white one
from top to bottom.
And she loves the blue and white.
Oh wow.
It's cold outside.
So I wear the long sleeve.
This one is like more shiny.
I like it.
And it's silky.
Silky.
So it's cooler.
I love blue.
So you decide.
Depends on what you prefer all day.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But I'm also interested in your hairband.
It looks like a chopstick.
Chopstick?
No, no chopstick.
No chopstick.
It's not chopstick.
What is it?
Come, come, show me behind.
It's so pretty.
Beautiful, I love it.
It's pretty.
Not for me.
Who designed it?
This is amazing.
I love it.
It's designed by the Sri Lanka Ferry, Italian designer.
Italian?
Yeah, that's why.
When you fly a lot,
you get really dry and age very fast, right?
How do you keep your beauty going?
Beauty.
Korea beauty, yeah.
K-beauty.
That's the best.
Yeah.
Can you help me?
I need to.
You can come to Korea
and you can get 10 years younger.
This ramen soup here
is officially the best in-flight snack.
Oh my God.
The soup is so spicy,
but it's so warm.
It makes you feel so good
during when you wake up after your sleep.
This is the secret.
This is the top secret.
Oh, that's where my ramen come from, right?
Show me, what is this?
Seaweed chips.
Seaweed chips?
Yeah.
From Korea, seaweed chips.
And brown rice.
Brown rice.
Yeah, hey, it does taste good.
Very, very long tiring flight.
Even sitting in first class,
that jet lag is sinking in.
It's 2.45am in Atlanta.
And I enjoyed the flight.
I watched actually this,
there's a very cool KALMAN vlog.
KAL is K-A-L, Korean Airline Man video.
So they, just like me,
they're filming the vlog inside the airline.
So next time when you're on board Korean Airline,
check out that TV programme, KALMAN vlog.
Talk about the Korean Air 747 experience.
I think it's kind of a hidden gem
because Korean Air has been more well known
to the Korean people,
less well known to the rest of the world.
So it's kind of a hidden gem.
But, you know, they have the fully enclosed suite,
a huge suite,
and also caviar, pyjamas,
takes all the boxes,
perhaps except the Wi-Fi.
For 15 hours, this aeroplane hasn't got the Wi-Fi.
So I feel a little bit disconnected to the world.
As an avgeek, what can I say?
You know, I love the 747.
I think the importance for us is the journey
to get to the destination.
That's actually more important and more enjoyable
than actually being at the destination.
And then for that matter,
I love the Korean sky blue livery
and their 747.
See you.
Thank you.
Bye.
Thank you.
See you.
Bye, bye.
All right, Miss Kim, see you.
See you soon.
Bye, bye.
