What is the relationship between Fuxi, Yandi, Huangdi, Chiyou, Zhuanxu, Yao, and Shun?
Different civilizations in the world have their own creation myths.
For example, the first volume of the "Bible" is the famous "Genesis",
which records that God created all things in six days
and took the seventh day as a rest day. This is also the origin of the current seven-day week and
weekend rest system.
In ancient Indian mythology, the supreme Brahma created all things in the world.
In Greek mythology, Gaia, the mother of all gods who symbolizes the earth, is the goddess of creation.
In China, there are also many myths and legends about the beginning of the world and the birth of all things
.
For example, people are familiar with Pangu creating the world,
Nuwa mending the sky and creating man, Fuxi creating gossip, and inventing the method of fishing and hunting.
Huangdi and Yandi jointly educated the people and became the ancestors of humanity.
In addition, there are mythical stories such as the battle between the Yellow Emperor and Chi You in Zhuolu, and Hou Yi shooting down nine suns
to save the people suffering from the scorching heat.
These famous figures, either gods or sages,
jointly created the splendid civilization of the early Chinese civilization.
So what do they have to do with each other?
I believe that everyone is familiar with myths and legends such as "Shen Nong tasted all kinds of herbs", "Fuxi
drew hexagrams", "Nuwa created man", "Dayu controlled the water",
so what is the relationship between the familiar Fuxi, Yandi, Huangdi, Chiyou,
Zhuanxu, Yao and Shun? ? How to sort it?
In fact, these mythical characters involve a concept of "Three Emperors and Five Emperors".
Usually we call Shennong, Fuxi, and Nuwa the "Three Emperors"
(there is also another version: Suiren, Fuxi, and Shennong), and they
are called Huangdi, Zhuanxu, and Di. Ku, Yao, and Shun were the five emperors. The
specific order is as follows: Fuxi and Nuwa are the earliest, Yandi,
Huangdi and Chiyou are the figures of the same period,
and then Zhuanxu, Diku, Yao, Shun and Yu are arranged in order.
1. The Three Emperors: Fuxi, Suiren, and Nuwa
1. Fuxi and Nuwa
Fuxi is the ancestor of the humanities of the Chinese nation, with the word Taihao.
He is the emperor of the Three Emperors. His contribution to human civilization is very great.
According to legend, Fuxi has the head of a man and the body of a snake, and
a miraculous thing happened to his mother, Hua Xu, before giving birth to him.
It is said that Mrs. Hua Xu went to a place called Lei Ze to play, and
saw a giant's footprint in the middle, and
Hua Xu, who was driven by curiosity, stepped on it according to the footprint, and then became pregnant.
Huaxu gave birth to Fuxi 12 years after she became pregnant.
According to relevant books, Fuxi and Nuwa are brother and sister.
They lived on the Kunlun Mountains. In order to reproduce, they married
and created human beings.
Fuxi is the earliest creation god in China, and he has made a lot of contributions to the Chinese nation.
He created gossip, opened the source of Chinese national culture, taught
people how to make nets for fishing and hunting, changed marriage customs, and advocated marriage between men and women.
2. Suiren's
Suiren's is the inventor of artificial fire in China. He taught people to cook cooked food and
ended the history of ancient human beings drinking blood.
In ancient times, primitive humans used rough stone tools to hunt for the food they needed. They
ate raw meat, roots, stems, and fruits of plants, and wore animal skins.
With the increase of the population, a wise man appeared in Shangqiu,
saying that he was wise because his behavior surpassed others, and others avoided fire,
but he was close to the fire, warmed by the cold weather, and put dead small animals on the fire
Gradually he discovered the magical effect of fire. When the
wise man realized the usefulness of fire, he taught the people around him to do the same.
Later, people honored the person who invented the technology of making fire as "Suirenshi".
2. Five Emperors: Huangdi, Zhuanxu, Diku, Yao, Shun
1, Yandi, Huangdi and Chiyou's relationship
61 00:03:19.350 --> 00:03:23.850 Xuanyuan era, the descendants of Shennong had been weakened, and the princes attacked each other,
but Shennong was unable to attack them.
Seeing this situation, Xuanyuan diligently practiced the art of war, and conquered those princes who did not come to pay tribute.
After Xuanyuan defeated the princes, they all came to submit.
Emperor Yan wanted to attack the princes, and the princes all went to submit to Xuanyuan.
Xuanyuan wants to lead these princes well, practice virtue, reorganize the army,
study the changes of solar terms in four seasons, plant five grains, measure the land,
appease all the people, and train bears, brave animals and other animals for his own use.
Everything was ready, and a great battle broke out between Huangdi and Yandi in the outskirts of Banquan.
After several wars, Huangdi finally defeated Yandi and
established his dominance.
But among the princes, Chi You was the most ferocious, and no one could conquer him.
He launched a rebellion and did not obey Xuanyuan's orders,
so Xuanyuan mobilized the armies of the princes, fought against Chiyou in the outskirts of Zhuolu, and
finally captured him and killed him.
In this way, Xuanyuan replaced Shennong, and
all the princes respected Xuanyuan as the son of heaven, which is the origin of the Yellow Emperor.
2. Emperor Zhuanxu
Huangdi lived in Xuanyuan Mountain and married the daughter of Xiling Kingdom as his wife. This is Lei Zu.
Lei Zu was the main wife of the Yellow Emperor and had two sons, one named Xuan Xiao,
who was the eldest son of the Yellow Emperor and lived in Jiangshui.
The other is Changyi, who lives in Ruoshui. The second
son Changyi married the daughter of the Shushan family and gave birth to his son Gaoyang.
Gao Yang had a high moral character. After the death of the Yellow Emperor, Gao Yang became the heir, and he was Emperor Zhuanxu.
Emperor Zhuanxu had a calm and strategic personality. He raised all kinds of livestock, planted crops, made
full use of the land, calculated the four seasons to follow nature, and formulated etiquette to educate the people.
Emperor Zhuanxu was very talented, and wherever the sun and moon shined, he surrendered to him.
3. Emperor Ku The
son of Emperor Zhuanxu was called Qiongchan. After the death of Emperor Zhuanxu, Xuanxiao's grandson,
that is, Gao Xin, the great-grandson of the Yellow Emperor, came to the throne. This is Emperor Ku.
Gao Xin's father was called Xu Ji, and neither Xuan Xiao nor Xu Ji ascended to the throne of God,
but Gao Xin, who was also Zhuanxu's nephew.
Gao Xin was born with aura and was able to
call his own name when he was born. He is really a god-man.
Emperor Ku is benevolent and majestic. He caresses and educates the people,
cultivates himself, and makes the world submit.
Di Ku married Chen Feng's daughter and gave birth to Fangxun.
Di Ku married another woman and gave birth to Zhi. After Di Ku's death, Zhi
took over the throne.
4. Yao
Fangxun is Emperor Yao, who is especially benevolent and wise. He formulated a calendar and
carefully taught the people the seasons for production.
When it came to Emperor Yao, on the issue of successors, Emperor Yao asked:
"Who can inherit my career?"
Fang Qi said: "Your son Danzhu understands affairs.
108 00:05:55.800 --> 00:06:00.175 Yao asked who could use him, and someone said that Gonggong could be used, but Yao denied it, saying:
“Gonggong likes to talk beautiful words, his intentions are not right, and he looks
respectful. In fact, I like to deceive, so I can't use it."
Yao said: "Siyue, now the flood is raging, and the
people are in distress, who can be sent to manage it?"
Everyone said Gun, but Gun violated the destiny and destroyed the same people, so Yao thought it could not be used. ,
Siyue insisted to use him to try, and Yao appointed him to control the water,
but Gun's nine years of water control had no effect at all.
Seeing this scene, Yao was very distressed. He said to Siyue:
"I have been in power for seventy years. Who can follow the destiny to take my place?"
120 00:06:36.400 --> 00:06:38.775 Emperor Yao asked how Yu Shun was, and Si Yue said, "
123 00:06:43.550 --> 00:06:46.925 but Yu Shun can live in harmony with them and manage the family well."
Yao decided to let Yu Shun try, and married his two daughters to him,
so that the daughters could observe his virtues.
Shun allowed Emperor Yao's two daughters to condescend to live at home and let
129 00:07:02.475 --> 00:07:04.725 Things were handled in an orderly manner by him, and
Yao sent Shun to receive guests. The guests from afar were respectful and harmonious.
After a three-year inspection period, Yao was very satisfied with Shun's performance,
so he passed the throne to him. At
this time, although Emperor Yao was already old,
he was still observing whether Shun was suitable to be the emperor after letting Shun take over the post of emperor.
5. Shun and Yu
Yao received Shun after 70 years of his reign, and then abdicated at old age after another 20 years,
letting Shun perform the duties of the Son of Heaven.
Twenty-eight years after Yao abdicated the throne, he died, and the people were very sad.
After Yao's death, Shun's three-year mourning was over, and Shun abdicated the throne to Danzhu,
but all the princes came to visit Shun and not to Danzhu
.
Yu Shun's name was Chonghua. Chonghua's father was blind. After Shun's biological mother died, his
father remarried another wife and gave birth to his son Xiang.
The father liked the youngest son very much, and often wanted to kill Shun,
but Shun respectfully served his father and stepmother, and tried his best to live in harmony with Xiang.
Shun was famous for his filial piety at the age of twenty, was recommended by Yao at the age of thirty,
took over the government affairs of the emperor at the age of fifty, took over the throne from Yao at the age of sixty-eight,
reigned for thirty-nine years, and finally died in the suburbs of Cangwu in the south .
Shun's son, Shang Jun, was too weak to be his successor, so
Shun chose Yu as his successor. After Shun's death, Yu followed Shun and gave up the throne to Shang Jun,
but the princes surrendered to Yu, so Yu ascended the throne. The
above is the order of these characters and related stories about the period of the Three Emperors and Five Emperors,
I hope everyone can have a clear understanding.
