With the digger I'll take off some high bits here and there and then it's a
pretty even slope. Then I can add some gravel. They've got a here at the
building center they've got a mix of sand, gravel, sharp gravel which really
compacts well. So I think I'll get that.
Just a little explanation of what's going on at the moment. So I'm moving a lot of dirt around so I want to
explain where that's going and why. I'm basically creating a flat area on the
front and here on the back. The arrows indicate the flow of the water so this
is slightly sloping down towards this retaining wall. And here the same way
it's sloping down downhill. Just quickly from the side it's a bit like that. Two
flat areas. This is about one meter twenty lower than this. This is actually
slightly higher. And here it goes down into a drainage system. So the water
actually around goes there away and the same here. The drainage that I built in
a few weeks ago that's here that's coming out of the wall here. The same
with a separate pipe of the rain gutter. It's coming out of this retaining wall
there. It's not connected to the septic system. Those are two different systems.
Now right now I'm working on this area to add more dirt here so I have a larger
flat area here. Right now I can come around with a wheelbarrow but not with
the trailer. And I want to be able to back up the trailer until here so I can
unload sand, wood, furniture and whatnot. It makes this whole area just easier to
walk around with wheelbarrows and carrying stuff around. This part I'll be
working on next year. I mean this is all looking nice and grassy right now. I don't
want to touch it. If I would want to build this entire thing this year I'd be
busy this summer to make it look nice. So I'm waiting for a big demolition drill
to get this huge stone out that's right here. And it's in the way of the drainage.
So that needs to go out first and then I can make this area nice and build a part
of this wall probably and flatten the soil here.
temperature. End of the work week. I had dinner here this evening. I've been
sitting here a bit more often because it's so nice with the cut grass and the
wilderness back there. It makes a big difference. I cut most with the the
petrol trimmer I have to admit. The scythe is really nice. I like the sound
and the rhythm but it's impossible to do it in the corners and around obstacles.
So it was a big job mainly because I'm allergic, I have a fever, asthma. So all that
good stuff is coming up. So it was kind of hard. But good week. A lot of digging.
Next week there will be more cleaning up on that side and that side. I hope I can
break that rock. Let's see. Trailer. So it's Thursday now. Tomorrow I'm gonna go
to Switzerland for a trailer because there was some Dutch guys, some friends
from my brother. They offered to bring me a trailer from the Netherlands because
the one I need I can't find here. Because I want the same one actually. I've been
talking about a bigger car and trailer but let's talk about cars another time.
But I'm gonna get the same trailer with a little fence because I need to be able
to have big pieces like four meter planks on top of that. And all the
trailers I could get here in Italy were those aluminium ones and they don't have
a fence and they're actually quite expensive. So I want this just cheap
off-the-shelf trailer like this one is as well. But then a new one because this
one is broken in many parts. Because I'm gonna abuse it quite a bit. Guys from the
Netherlands, they have a wedding in Switzerland and they offered if they
needed to bring one here. So that's why I'm gonna drive to La Corvegne tomorrow
morning and then to Switzerland to pick it up. And then I'll be back on Sunday I think.
I've got a squirt.
Yeah this is what I need. The guys already moved on. They're a bit in a rush.
They're attending a wedding here. So Jelle and Hendrik Jan, thanks for bringing this.
You can buy these also in France I believe and in Germany but not in Italy.
I need a fence. It's almost the same. It's slightly bigger and wider.
Perfect for a chair.
I'm nearby Meiringen in a Swiss beautiful place. A lot of cyclists.
Traffic on the road.
The Grimsel Pass is very popular.
Alright.
