There are a lot of beautiful villages in Himachal
But still a lot of people are unaware of this part of Himachal
Because it is neither near Shimla nor near Manali
This place is almost 200 km away from Shimla
Himachal's Kinnaur Valley
Where there are some very beautiful and heavenly villages
And where is the easiest way to go to heaven
One of the most dangerous roads in the world
Kinnaur Valley starts from Hindustan-Tibet Highway
And because most of the mountains here are not made of soil
But made of rocks or these big big rocks
So half tunneling was done to make these roads
Which looks something like this
And when you are on this road
Then you have this cliff on your head
And thousands of feet deep ravine on the side
But after crossing this road
You reach a village near Kinnaur-Kailash's high mountains
Which is called Kalpa
This small village of Himachal
Is located in front of Kailash Range
As if this village has been made specially
For the view of these peaks
Kalpa is such a place where you don't need a car or bike to roam
But you can roam in every corner of this village by just walking
With which you will be able to feel the peace and calmness of this place
It is called perfect blend
Which means it is a perfect mix
Neither you are in a remote area
Where you don't see any people
And you are not even that close
That you get a lot of tourists or crowd
So it is a perfect balance
Where you can see peaceful surroundings, calm environment
And a lot of beautiful views
So that is Kalpa
You must be thinking where did I get this Himachali hat
There is a story behind this Himachali hat
When I was roaming inside the village
I saw the old houses
This is your house
Can we see inside?
Inside?
What is this?
This is made of goat
Not goat, goat
This is made for warmth
For warmth, okay
This is small, this is big
What is this here?
This is your kitchen
There is a bed next to it
This is for warmth
This is not for sleeping?
This is for sleeping
This is for sleeping in winter
So this is for warmth in bedroom
So this is for warmth in kitchen
It is difficult to go out in winter
So we used to put our coats inside
Okay
How much is the height of this?
The whole house is inside
How cold is it here?
8 feet ice
8 feet ice?
Okay
Lalu
Whose name is Lalu?
This one
So aunty gave me this hat
Himachali hat
Do you make it yourself?
Let me help you
Okay
Mummy is giving it to you with love
Thank you
It looks good
Now people will think it is Himachali
Not a tourist
You can take it out
Okay
Wear it but give it with love
Okay
So I got this hat
So the place where I am sitting now is
Apple garden
All the trees around me are apple trees
You can see apples little by little
But in a month or in a month and a half
You will see full growth
Kinnaur's apples are world famous for their taste and quality
And here every year
Approximately 15 to 20 lakh boxes of apples are produced
Out of which every box is of 20 kg
So you can understand how many apples are there
Namaste ji
What are you doing?
We are cutting grass
Oh you are cutting grass
And what are you making of it?
What is this round thing?
We make it like this
To feed the cows
You are making fodder for the cows
While walking in the village
I met a nun from the monastery
And she put some more flowers in my Himachali cap
Which monastery are you from?
My monastery is far away
Wow, you look like a flower
Thank you
As soon as I reached Kalpa
I was left with just one thing
The Kinnaur-Kailash range
And whether you are walking, sitting or doing anything
As soon as you see their view
You leave everything and just start looking at these peaks
And after seeing them once
I just kept looking at it until the sunlight went
But when I saw the sunrise here
That was the real view of heaven
All the peaks of this range are more than 19,000 feet high
Out of which, every peak has a different significance in the lives of the people here
And the peak due to which this range got its name
Is this Kinnaur-Kailash peak
On which is 79 feet tall Shivling
Which is a rock like a pillar
And even after being at such a height
Every year thousands of people come here to worship Shivling
And one more belief which is in Himachal
That is God
We have a local festival here
What is the name of the festival?
The name of the festival is Pooja
Every village has its own Pooja
What is inside this?
There is nothing inside, just statues
These are called Rath
These are the Rath of God
In other places, there is a stationary
We move it from our place
In other places, there is a stationary
If there is a statue of Lord Shiva
We ask him
In our local tribal area
We ask him
How many people carry it?
6 people
Is it heavy?
Yes, it is heavy
All the villagers come together
And become a part of this festival
Some people take the Rath of God
And the rest of the villagers
Make the Prasad of God
Are you making the Prasad of God?
Yes, the Prasad of God
For Pooja
What are you making?
Vegetables, Halwa, Chapati, Puri
And then we have alcohol
Alcohol
Chhang
Chhang is different
Alcohol is different
Madira
Who pays for all this?
The temple pays
We get alcohol from every house
So, they offer alcohol as Prasad
All the villagers drink it?
All the women drink it?
Women don't drink it
Women don't drink it?
For years, people from different villages of Himachal
Have been celebrating this festival
Of their local deities
Maybe this belief
Gives them the courage
To live in these mountains
And also
Keeps the less population
And the community together
This was just one village of Kinnaur
But Kinnaur has another
Very beautiful village
Which is 100 km away from Kalpa
Before the beginning of Spiti Valley
Kinnaur's highest village
Nako
At a height of 12,000 feet
Located in Nako village
Only 600 people live here
And even though Nako is in Kinnaur
Everything has changed
From Kalpa to Kinnaur
The landscape has turned
From green to desert
Wooden houses have turned
Into mud houses
And greetings in Jhule
Jhule
How are you?
I am fine, how are you?
I am fine
The most unique thing
That comes to mind
Is the mud houses
Which are made in a cluster
Which looks like
An old fort
When seen together
Because apart from
These 4G mobile towers
Most of the things here
Are centuries old
It looks like a house
But when you come inside
It looks like
A sand hill
A mud hill
And there are small alleys
And houses are made
Close to each other
People say that
Most of the land
Belongs to the government
So they have to make
So many houses
Most of the houses
Are close to each other
And this is made of mud
All the houses
Are made of these stones
These stones are found here
The whole village is like this
Of old times
I don't know where we are
I don't know where we are in history
The whole village
Of old times
From Nako, you can see
The highest peak of Himachal
Riopurgil
Behind me is the highest peak of Himachal
It looks like a golden peak
During sunset
It is more than
22,000 feet high
It is so high
That you can see
Sunset rays
While the whole Nako village
Which is 11,000 feet high
Even then, it is
Sunset and there is no sunlight
You can see sunlight at that peak
Because it is so high
Beside the village
Is the most popular spot
Nako Lake
In a deserted place
The presence of a lake
Is special
So for the people here
This is a sacred lake
Which is more beautiful
At sunset
After hiking a little
From the lake
You reach the highest point
On which a Buddhist temple
It is believed
That this temple protects
The whole village
Because from here
You can see the whole Nako village
Everything is made of mud
Roads, houses, everything is made of mud
In the old times, it was made of mud
Nowadays, people
Have built houses
Our houses are not good
It is cold
In winter, it is cold
In summer, it is hot
Like a dog
We have such houses
Why are there flags on the roof?
Once a year
Once in a year
On the day
In the month of Sakha
In the fourth month
On the day of Purnima
We put a flag once a year
This flag
Is it a Buddhist flag?
Yes
The location of Nako
It is such a location
That it is very close to the Tibet border
Nako is very close
It is only 20-25 km from here
From the Tibet border
There is nothing behind
There are very small villages
It is very remote
It is a remote village
When you live in such a remote place
You can meet people
And live in the community
There is no one here
In such a remote place
There is not much population
When only a few people live
They live together
There are small gatherings
There are some functions
There is a lack of oxygen here
There is a lack of population
And facilities
When you reach such a height
A lot of things get less
But the thing that increases
Is the spirit of living with each other
Walking in the streets of these villages
Or roaming in the buses
I felt like everyone here
Knows each other
Maybe when people get less
Then people
Realize the importance of people
And maybe when you
Come here
Then maybe
More than your city
People recognize you here
