Now after Harry Kane completed his move to Bayern Munich, fans have been queuing up to
buy the latest shirt ahead of the new Bundesliga season. Our reporter Paul Gilmour is inside the
club shop for us and we can cross there now. Well we're in the heart of Munich where Harry Kane's
fever after the weekend is at an all-time high. Just have a look behind me here. They haven't
wasted much time in the Kane shirts going up costing 100 euros. The authentic version of
and we're told that shirt sales have been sensational. So Harry Kane, the talk of Munich
and here to talk some more about the England captain is Lee Koller from Sky Germany. Thank
you so much for your time. They bought five Kanes as you see up there. There are a lot of Kane
shirts. We're seeing them everywhere around Munich. Has this transferred grip to the city?
It's the first time I've imagined. I'm for a long time around and I tell you
never had that hype before Harry Kane. What is it about this? Is it the fact that it's
one of the best strikers in the world? Is it the England captain? What is it about?
I think it's the package. It's the English captain of the national team. I mean that means
something. He's leaving the Premier League, the number one league overall in the world,
and coming to the Bundesliga. That's a big impact for the Bundesliga but also the Bayern Munich
fans. They are desperate for a centre-forward and they want the best. They had Lewandowski.
They let him go. He's six years older than Harry. So everybody's hoping for that. But in fact,
it makes a lot of sense playing with a centre-forward. That's a modern game.
But Bayern scored without a centre-forward also 92 games in the league and over 130 overall
in the other competitions. So does this propel, as much as Bayern Munich didn't score goals
before, does this propel them into major favourites for the Champions League?
They were our favourite last year. Then everything fell apart, you know, and Thomas
Tuchel is still working on it. So they're hoping for the Champions League for sure.
It's always a goal for Bayern. Percentage is always low. If you play in the first play-off
against City, then it will be tough, you know.
Of course. I mean, you look at Harry Kane, you mentioned Lewandowski before that.
Are there any comparisons in the way that we always heard about Lewandowski? He was the
ultimate professional, a real fitness freak, did all the right things. Harry Kane has a kind of
similar mentality that he lives and breathes football. Is that why he has got to the level
he's at? I think these centre-forwards are exceptional. You have only three, four,
five in the whole world. So Harry is the best thing ever Bayern can happen, especially because
I have the feeling, I don't know him personally, I haven't had so much contact with him, but
he gives the feeling. He has not his nose up there to the shirts, no. He's a humble guy,
as far as I've seen. And this is what Bayern needs. This is for the Bavarian mentality.
He's a star, a big star overall. But I think the whole package of Harry Kane and scoring goals,
some challenges are coming up. Scoring enough goals so everybody is happy
and driving on the wrong side of the road. I mean, this will be a challenge.
I was going to ask you if you have any advice for Harry Kane about living in Munich. Is that
the number one piece of advice? Well, first, I think as a driver. But I know
when I come to England, it's really hard driving on the wrong side. But still,
language is something. I mean, German is a horrible language to learn. Even a lot of Germans
can't speak proper German. So it's really tough. But I think on the field, especially all the
teammates, English is the world speech, the world language. So I think he can communicate well.
Thomas Tuchel has been almost quite apologetic about the performance the other night. His
comments have triggered a lot of debate after Harry Kane has joined. What did you make of the
Leipzig game and looking ahead to the Bremen game when we can expect Harry Kane to start, actually?
Well, yeah, he will start. But what Thomas Tuchel said, I cannot understand. I mean,
one of the basics, as far as I know, is that the manager is a friend to the players.
And with his statements, he's not making much more new friends. I hope the old friends stay to him,
because I don't understand him. It's also his responsibility that the players play like he
wants to. And if he goes and says no, it's a tough time, especially with this holding six.
He tells everybody they are not good midfielders. But with Kimi and Goretzka, they won the
Champions League with this midfield. I mean, I understand Thomas Tuchel. I don't want to hang it
too high. But there are problems coming up if they don't perform well against Bremen now.
What kind of challenge can Kane expect against Bremen?
I think having Kane there, it means it's an impact also to Bremen and to everybody who
plays against Bayern. Because everybody watches Kane. And if everybody watches Kane,
then some other players will have a little bit more space to score as well. So I think a big
impact now. Harry has not to care about nothing. Just being in the box, scoring or whatever he
wants to do, let him do it. Because Thomas Tuchel said already that he doesn't need any time. He
plays from the first second on. Brilliant, Ulle. Thank you so much for your time. There we go.
Harry Kane needs to watch out for driving on the wrong side of the road and the language. But in
the meantime, he's focusing on this game against Werder Bremen. He's expected to start his league
debut live on Sky Sports in the UK on Friday night. Good tips there. These are more shots
from inside the club shop where Kane shirts are being printed and bought by supporters.
We spoke to a few fans who are optimistic for the new season after they signed the England captain.
One of the best strikers in the world right now. And I'm just so happy that he's finally here.
Now we need to change the style that we play. And then we're going to win the Champions League.
Harry Kane, I think he's the best player in England. And now I'm so happy that he joined
Bayern Munich. And I want to see a lot of goals. I think just to have a striker, a number nine,
that's as iconic as he is, that's been proven in the Premier League, the most challenging league
in the world. And to now come over here and hopefully add to a long lasting legacy of
success at Bayern. I'm very happy. He's a really great striker. We needed a number nine. So
I think he'll help us a lot. He's got a lot of goals. Hopefully win all the trophies possible,
Champions League, Bundesliga, everything. I'm really happy. I hope he wins the Ballon d'Or
and the Champions League. And in 2026, he will play in the World Cup.
I want him to win it as well. It's coming home.
