Right, we've had plenty of psychic animals over the years, haven't we, when it comes to World Cups.
Who can forget Paul the Octopus back in 2010. For 2023 we've got a new character, Dave the Cat.
He's already got a history with some of the England players and he's going to predict
the result of England's semi-final against Australia tomorrow. Unless he says Australia,
he's getting it right. Our reporter is Gary Cottrell. Hello, well this is exciting. I'm Gary,
this is Anna. Hello. Hello Anna. The star of the show, I'm sure Anna won't mind me saying so,
is Dave. Let's see if we can see Dave who's here in his new home. Obviously he's a part of the
feline family. He's not a lion, he's not a lioness, but he's still part of the family.
He's got the same DNA. So who better to predict who's going to win this game between England
and Australia. The Australians have had a koala who I think was a little bit set up and the koala
picked Australia, but Dave has got pedigree. Now he's not a pedigree cat, he's a bit of a street
cat, but he's got world cup pedigree, hasn't he Anna? Explain that to us. Yes, so in Qatar in
December, Dave kept appearing in the team hotel, quickly realised he was a stray and a lot of the
players fell in love with him, particularly John Stones and Carl Walker, and they wanted to adopt
him. So I put my hand up and volunteered and the children are absolutely delighted. We've never had
a pet before and what a first pet to have. Dave became a bit of a star out in Qatar. Look, we
set up a picture there, if you can see it, with the son of John Stones, Carl Walker and Dave,
making himself very welcome. Not an official guest, but a very welcome guest. Let's have a
bit of a wonder as we get Bertie and Archie to join us. Bertie and Archie, come on, you come along
as well Anna. And now we're going to put the food down, Dave's food down on the flags and he, because
of his world cup pedigree, because of his world cup fame, is going to decide whether or not, in his
opinion, England or Australia are going to win this crucial game. Dave, come and get your food. Dave,
here he comes, behind the camera man, he's coming now. Bear with us, you can hear him meowing.
Dave is going to pick.
Dave, the world cup cat has picked England, the lionesses, his older sisters in the feline family,
to go ahead and win that match tomorrow. Delicious meal there for Dave. Well done, Dave.
The England lads will be proud of you. Let's see what Anna thinks about that.
Anna, that's good news. It's absolutely brilliant, the lionesses are so inspiring
and we're so proud of them. Good luck tomorrow. Yeah, they're feasting away, they're on the food,
lads. Happy with that result? Yeah. Tell us who you think the score's going to be.
Two-one. And what do you think? Same. Okay, Dave, what do you think the score's going to be?
The score is, he's a very hungry cat and he's a very clever cat. I'm no vet, but I suspect if you
give an animal wet food or dry food, like my dog, they're going to go for the wet food. So,
I slightly think that was rigged, just saying. Anyway, let's move on.
